The location of the hotel was perfect. You’re not even a five minute walk from Waverley. The room was more spacious than we imagined and the staff were very friendly. Carlton Hill is next to it for perfect views of Edinburgh. Don’t miss the restaurant Howies on the corner, best food we ate in Edinburgh! We will definitely be back!

Right in the city centre by Calton Hill. Close to all shops and the Playhouse Theatre. Room was really spacious and very clean!! Even had a wee view out of the window (stayed in Room 12). The Reception staff were brilliant, especially the lassie that showed me through to the hotel - she was so lovely, polite and smiley (which I loved!) Thank you to that receptionist - made me feel so welcomed into the hotel.
The only gripe I had was that there was no milk with the tea tray upon arrival, but it was very easily solved later on when I arrived back from being out for dinner. There was nothing after this that I didn’t like!

Beautiful accommodation almost in the city center. Excellent accessibility from the airport, with public transport stops all around; you can reach the main street on foot in just a few minutes. The hotel’s common areas are very nice, and while the rooms are small, they are completely adequate. We tried the Scottish breakfast and received a full plate of food, but on the other hand, it wasn't anything we couldn't find nearby for a lower price.
These are just minor details that didn’t spoil our overall enjoyment of the stay in any way. The bathroom fan was a bit disruptive, as it continued to hum for quite a while after being turned off. In the end, we dealt with it (especially at night) by removing the key from the power holder. The room was quite damp in the morning, and it was a pity that the windows couldn't be opened.

Staff was at all times very helpful, especially when we needed help with the heat in our room. Housekeeping was flawless. The fireplace in the lobby was a godsend, as it was very cold in Edinburgh when we were there. The location makes it easy to walk to almost everywhere.
We went back to Parliament House for two reasons - the location, and the fabulous breakfasts we had there in 2017. (I have spent the last 7 years trying to duplicate the silky scrambled eggs we had there.) Alas, the cook has changed and the breakfasts were marginally edible. The first morning I ordered the Eggs Benedict Royale (with smoked salmon). The salmon had gone over and was quite inedible. The poached eggs were nicely cooked, but the Hollandaise sauce was runny and had no detectable flavor. The haggis was very unpleasant this time around, whereas before it was heavenly. The Continental breakfast was a safer option, but the pastries were consistently dried out. Very disappointing.

Excellent location, right next to the tram and not far from the national gallery and a lot of great pubs and restaurants. The bed was also extremely comfortable, sockets right next to the bed too. Good heating the room was always very warm. Mirror and sink in bathroom were nice and big and the light in the bathroom was great.
Some parts need updating, the fridge wasn't cold, there was no toilet brush in the bathroom, the bath/shower combo was also quite small despite the big enough bathroom and the tv was very small

The staff here are all wonderfully kind and helpful. This was my favourite thing about staying here. I also think the price I got, for a fairly last-minute booking, was not bad, and the room was a good size, comfortable, and very clean. The hotel is housed in a beautiful, historic building and I simply loved the classic interior decoration. Very good location, pretty much right around the corner from the high street, although it is a bit of an uphill walk so make sure you wear good shoes. Lots of good restaurants on the same street. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would consider staying here again if I ever came back to Edinburgh.
The hotel's layout is a little complicated, especially for certain rooms. It can be confusing to navigate. Thankfully, after checking in one of the staff showed me to my room and then explained how to get to reception from there. There will be signs showing you the way to and fro, but again, it can take some getting used to.

I have stayed at this hotel on 3 occasions as it is a lovely and clean hotel in an ideal central location. A very quick walk from Waverley train station. The staff have always been helpful. I have loved the view from two of the rooms I stayed in so far (one overlooking Old Calton Burial Ground) and was a nice spacious room, and the other had a view of the front facing Calton Hill which was also lovely. I love the Brodies coffee available in the rooms too! I have recommended this hotel to people and would stay again.
The last room I stayed in I wasn’t keen on as there was no option for a bath and the view from the window was not scenic unfortunately and didn’t let in much light. However, the first two rooms I stayed in previously were great.

The location was easy walking distance from the train station, next to Calter Hill, with short walks to the Royal Mile, shops, museums, parks, etc. We climbed Calter Hill and Arthur’s Seat, toured the castle, went to several museums, and visited the extensive botanical garden. We enjoyed returning to the hotel tucked into a quiet street with a fireplace in the reception room. (Even in May, a fire was welcome.) For breakfast, there was a choice of cooked food along with the continental breakfast spread, or cold food only. There is a recommended restaurant (Howi’s) within steps of the hotel, but it was booked when we checked. We found good casual food places a few blocks away on Rose St.
It wasn’t a problem for us, but the breakfast room is down a few steps.

A good warm and spacious room with a large comfortable bed ... clean linen and towels...11am checkout was really useful for my journey home.the members of staff I encountered were pleasant but not enthusiastic..the reception lounge was a comfortable place to be with drinks available if I had required...the location was perfect for me...the room drinks offer was good...also I like the addition of a small fridge ..over all I was satisfied and would visit again..
The footpath directly to the front of the hotel had a nearby restaurant rubbish bins overflowing...I had to step into the road to pass....some of my room was probably ready for a more concentrated clean..dust clinging to the top of the curtains and pelmet.

The room was efficient and had everything we needed. Excellent location, walking distance to just about everything. Absolutely loved the heated towel rack. Will definitely stay here again!!!
I could tell the comforter at the end of the bed had not been washed. As they are typically for show. I've been told by numerous friends and family who have worked in hotels that's a common thing. So I never use them anyways. Room was hot at night even though I turned off the radiator.
