Breakfast was delivered to your room door in a bag. You select the items you wish to receive from a list, e.g. Cornflakes, yogurt, oatcakes etc. We quite enjoyed this system. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was also a pot of filtered coffee in the dining room that you could use at any time. The dining room also had tables, a micro, toaster and a fridge for the use of the residents at all times of the day. You could bring in food from outside then enjoy it in the dining room. There was also a nice sitting room with a piano open to residents. There was also a computer and printer in the sitting room, however, we did not use them. A lovely welcome from Justina on arrival. Thank you Justina.

Parking is expensive if you take the car on week days.

Breakfast was good (option of 10 items pp ) no hot food supplied, ordered day before . Items ordered were placed outside the room by evening time . There is a dining room with fridge toasters, etc, if you don't want to eat in the room. We used a fridge for milk for cereals. Room is spacious we ask for twin room ,when we booked in there were 2 doubles and a single . 2 wardrobes hairdryer supplied, towels and shower gel , soaps, and body lotion in the on suite. Location is just 10mins to old town . Also not far from Authors Chair which is a most for a hike.

There is no outside space to rest for a coffee before going on your adventure around Edinburgh, especially when the weather is good . I would class this as a B&B more than a hotel.

Location of the hotel was perfect. About 10 minutes of walking to city centre. Calton Hill just behind the hotel. Many restaurants nearby as well as Tesco store if you need something quickly. The hotel and the room was clean. The room was big enough, bed was comfy for me, bathroom was clean, you get breakfast delivered to your door at 6 am. If you need a place to stay for a short trip I would definitely recommend Terrace hotel. Thank you, it was a pleasure :)

Beautifully decorated and well cared for in the style of the house as it should be. Easy to get to local restaurants and bars as long as you like walking. Nice, quiet area with lovely, similar properties along the street. Staff were great and posted back a couple of cards I’d left in a drawer, nothing important but saved the inconvenience of replacing them

It’s not on any public transport route so a bit of a walk from any bus stop etc and uphill whichever way you approach it. Not sure about the breakfast being dropped in a bag at the door but worked fine for us wanting to take time to get ready to go out for the rest of the day.

The hotel itself is in a beautiful location with wonderful views. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was enormous and spotlessly clean. We had a kettle and a supply of tea and coffee and there was also a guest fridge downstairs. We could leave our bags after we'd checked out until it was time to go for our train. And it was really exciting seeing a heron on top of a tree from our window while we were eating breakfast!

The system or ordering breakfast in advance and delivering it to the door works really well (a bit like finding your stocking on Christmas morning). There was also sufficient allowance for us to order a bit extra for our lunch. However, the food provided was a bit 'cardboardy' which meant it was adequate but I'm sure fresher croissants and brioches are not impossible to obtain. The room was overpoweringly hot when we arrived. However, once we turned radiator down it was absolutely fine.

The location is perfect!!! Close to buses, trams, shopping area, bars and restaurants - just what we needed. The place is peaceful and it has so many mature, beautiful trees along the street , we love nature!! Rachel was so accommodating and very pleasant to talk to. We requested for a change of room from the 3rd floor to a lower room and it was attended to right away. Other staff were very helpful and friendly! Overall, it was a lovely experience!

More options for breakfast. Maybe everyday there should be variations for breakfast, ex, on Mondays: Croissant etc Tuesdays: Muffins etc

We were allowed to check in very early in the morning to our absolutely gorgeous room with a view to the water. The beds were made beautifully, breakfast was very good and convenient and after checkout we were allowed to stow our luggage and lounge around in the sitting room for more than an hour before leaving to catch our train. The location was close to everything you could want to do and the place was just so beautiful and homey that I loved spending time there.

The water in the shower was low on pressure and not consistently hot.

This hotel is in a grand old building, is very clean and as a bonus has a common dining area and lounge room. The one staff member who greeted us was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very spacious with two queen sized beds and good ensuite bathroom. Because of the location, a bit of walk out of centre of town, it was very quiet at night for sleeping.

Nothing really. As above the location is great because it is quiet, but it is a little out of the main centre if you are walking. Also, not an issue for us, but I don't believe there is a lift, and it is a bit of a climb up the grand staircase to the rooms.

Very friendly, helpful staff on arrival and during our stay. The continental breakfast delivered to our room was perfect for our needs. The hotel location was perfect for attending the Royal Garden Party at Holyroodhouse. The room was very spacious, a double bed and a single bed, both very comfortable. Full length mirror and nice bright mirror for putting on makeup.

I hadn't realised that parking on the street outside the hotel was for a maximum of 4 hours only. After that, you would have to move your car to another street and so on. Parking charges apply from 8.30 am until 5.30 pm and are approx £4/hour. There is a cheaper car park but that involved a tram/bus ride of 20 minutes or so after you have dropped your car off. If you want to drop your luggage off at the hotel first, you need to keep your hazard lights on in the 'permits only' spaces closest to the hotel (or pay for an hour's parking across the road).
