Simple, straightforward accomodation, fine for our 4-night stay. The room itself was clean and everything was usable. Was a super easy base location from which to visit the Fringe; you're a few seconds away from bus and tram stops into the town, and it's entirely walkable without them. There didn't seem to be any major problems with the temperature in the room, although fans (and all toiletries) were available at the front check-in desk. Kitchen area was clean if a little chilly.
It's student accommodation, so it's fundamentally a little basic. The walls are thin and the bed is rather compact for two people, but neither was a significant issue during our stay. The fusebox in the hallway did cut out on one night, but this only affected wall chargers rather than room lighting, and front desk were happy to immediately reset the fusebox.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The accommodation was good value and the location was great.
The WiFi didn't work and the bed was stripped and the clean linen left on the floor in the communal hallway. Plus was, that the receptionist was helpful and sympathetic and gave me a complementary bottle of water.

We booked a bigger room and didn't regret it. It was spacious, with a good bathroom, a kitchenette, a vacuum cleaner, a microwave, a kettle, an oven and utensils. The bed was comfortable and the space was sufficient for my husband and me (we are not very large though). Using earplugs is recommended because the seagulls can be quite talkative. We slept well, but with earplugs. The staff were great. We checked in very fast and were given the key, some toiletries, tea/coffee and a towel per person. Bear in mind that there is no soap in the room, so either use the body wash given or bring your own soap. There is toilet paper, however. The check out was also very efficient and fast. We used the laundry which is easy to use: download the app, put some money on it (we used about 14 pounds for 3 loads + 2 dryers). The app tells you how long it takes and informs you when the cycle is done. Overall, a great value for money, so we will stay again.

It’s located close to the city centre, has everything you’d need nearby - restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, the apartment had its own kitchen - living room, shared with another couple of units. Its own bathroom is rare at this price point. The kitchen had all you’d need to do your own cooking. The staff were nice and accommodating.
The double bed would be considered small by some people. It was fine for us. The shared kitchen was used to cook some extremely spicy Asian food and it smelled for the whole day, making it unusable for the rest of us. (Just a few minutes there would make your clothes smell) A few more hooks on the wall or a drying rack would be nice - there’s no place to hang two bath towels, not to mention clothes wet from the rain.

Staff were there 24 hrs so it was very convenient if we needed any assistance. Not a bad location if you don't mind taking a bus into the centre of town. They also offered basics in the common space like body wash and tea etc. We felt quite safe staying there. Its an especially good option if you are a student with a small budget or are just passing through.
The kettle in the shared kitchen was missing for a day. Not the fault of the staff but maybe some signs about taking stuff from the kitchen would be a good idea. Also the room got pretty hot so if you're staying in summer ask for a fan. Occasionally our key card was quite fiddly to get into the room.

I stayed in very similar accommodation when I was a student and so knew what to expect. I was just there for one night and so it was handy to have access to a kitchen so that I could use the fridge for things like milk for coffee and the bed was pretty comfy which was all I needed really.
My only criticism would be that the walls are thin (like a lot of student accommodation) and so sound passes from room to room easily (I could hear snoring, someone plugging in a charger etc). I brought my own earplugs in anticipation of this kind of thing, but they also had some available at reception.

Good to stay in for a short trip. It has all the facilities you need to stay for a few nights. The area is very close to the tram and bus that are only a couple of stops away from the main city centre, but you can also walk it (20-30mins) if you wanted. The room is cosy, the bed was not as bad as I have read from other reviews and fits two people quite comfortably. The bathroom is a tight spot but gets the job done. I enjoyed using the common areas for heating up food in the microwave, having a fridge to store drinks or food in, a kettle for complimentary tea/coffee from the main reception, etc…The staff were very friendly and helpful and they offer luggage storage, fans and extra towels if needed.
The bathroom doesn’t have a bath mat so the floor gets soaked after you shower. Would appreciate a floor mat in there to prevent that!

The security was good. It was convenient for us to get a bus that took us right to the train station. The room was clean and private with its own bathroom. The cost was within our budget. It was the favorable review of other guests that helped us decide to take the room.
The advertisement was inadequate and did not give many details of the property. Difficulty finding the exact location of the place. In the room we stayed, the shelf immediately over the bed is not in an ideal position as you could hit your head or arm against it. It should be relocated perhaps to a higher position.

Check-in and check-out was easy, and the staff were friendly. There is indeed a *fridge* in the kitchen (I didn’t see it mentioned anywhere, so I contacted them through the chatbox to ask), in case you have medicine which must be kept cold.
It would have been nice to have some sort of bathmat in the bathroom- otherwise the floor quickly gets slippery when you get out of the shower, and I worried that my friend would slip and fall. Even a rubber mat would be fine, and would just need a spray of disinfectant in-between guests? The bed itself was not especially comfortable, but I was only there for one night.

It works perfectly for what it is. The bathroom - the most important and scary thing when you read words such as "youth, hostel, student accomodation" - was great, probably the best part of our stay. The rooms are very tidy and comfortable, but the beds are a little short and - as advertised - not wide enought to properly accomodate two reasonably sized adults. For what it costs it's great. The only real problem would be the impossibility of properly opening the window. Being it a student accomodation most of the time, there are some anti jump-out-of-the-window measures that cannot be removed for the sake of the more pro-life inclined guests such as myself and m'lady. Said impossibility caused the room to be really really warm at night. Mind you, though: warm as in "I hate summer, I hate sweating, I cannot sleep" and not as "thank god this room is warm for Edinburgh is a chilly city even during summertime".
Not being able to open the window, the room being a little too warm, but all in all it is great stuff.
