beautiful setting and lovely grounds, parking available, very nice pool and lounging area and good spa, short walk into Bath. The bedroom was comfortable and stylish with water, tea and coffee provided

the only problem we encountered was the breakfast which was shambolic. we were asked if we would like toast and replied yes please but it never arrived even though we asked several times! my coffee was full of grounds as the cafetière was broken, again I had to ask several times for replacement coffee and a fresh cup. the cooked breakfast was ok but not great.we mentioned this to the receptionist on checking out but he was very monosyllabic and didn’t seem interested, no apology was forthcoming and we left on a low note!

I have stayed at the Bath Macdonald Spa Hotel several times and always come away feeling relaxed and energised.

I do feel the quality of the breakfast has gone down hill in recent times and the spa and swimming pool needs major refurbishment.

This is a beautiful hotel , cannot fault it terms of cleanliness, beautiful rooms , friendly staff & great spa facilities. However we stayed here a couple of years ago and i do feel it’s getting rather overpriced now . The breakfast is extortionate for what you get ! We didn’t include breakfast in our stay & paid at the hotel & it was £20pp for a basic continental breakfast. If you wanted a cooked breakfast it was £26pp. My mum & partner included the breakfast when they booked the room & it only cost them an extra £9 more than what we payed for our room. We also had 4 coffees there which came to £24 it was £5 per cup but they had put a service charge on each cup of a £1 each. So £6 per cup!!! When I’m paying good money to stay in a hotel I don’t expect to have to pay service charge on coffees I feel good service is included in the price of your stay! We wont be staying here again.

Room was comfortable and spacious. Spa pool was very good and the grounds were beautiful. Breakfast in the room. Hotel is within walking distance of the city centre and you can park your car easily in the spacious car park. The staff were all very friendly & helpful.

Checking in/out system needs to be sharpened up as there were lots of very unhappy looking clients in a long queue waiting to check in and check out. We were very lucky and seem to have missed the queues fortunately. Warners use a much more slick system. Whole hotel needs closing for a spruce up eg painting, decorating, woodwork replacing etc as it is looking rather tired. Our bathroom badly needed painting, re grouting etc.Not a five star because of the need for decoration.

I stayed with my dog the evening prior to competing at Bath Championship Dog Show. The staff were very welcoming and had prepared a beautiful ground floor room and had even supplied a dog bed and bowl for us too. There was a view out the window on to the balcony and the bed was soooooooooooooo comfy! Will definitely return when I show in Bath again next year.

There were only 2 coffee pods so had to chose either to have a drink on the evening or in the morning - not both :( I also like to make a flask of tea to take with me when I leave but there was no kettle in the room so this was simply not possible

My Husband and myself had a very lovely time, the full English breakfast on the first morning we did not enjoy it. could of been hotter and and the toast was extremely cold . However the following morning I asked for Omelette which apparently do not do but was accommodating. My husband asked for scrambled eggs on toast I thought the portion was very very small on small bit of toast on the side and a handful of scammed egg portion a bit mean I thought. On the Saturday night we did have their 5 taster menu that was excellent and valve for money. Last the Staff all very very lovely and nothing was a bother , would highly recommend a stay.

We stayed at the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel for our fourth wedding anniversary and it was a truly special experience. The Grade II listed building is absolutely stunning - it felt more like staying in a royal residence than a hotel. The historic charm has been beautifully preserved, with elegant interiors and an atmosphere of timeless luxury. The spa facilities were exceptional with heated indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a range of thermal rooms including an aromatic sauna, rock sauna and cold room. The staff were incredibly accommodating and attentive. They even decorated our room for the occasion and surprised us with a thoughtful card and complimentary chocolates - a lovely personal touch that made us feel genuinely valued.

If I had to mention anything, it would be that the pool tiles could do with a bit of modernisation but that’s really just being picky. Everything else was fantastic.

Beautiful hotel. My suite was lovely.(119)Yes, some paint on the woodwork in the bathroom would freshen it up. However, the rest of the room was luxurious and spacious. The bed was comfortable with lovely bedding. The hotel is in a quiet and peaceful location, a 15-minute walk straight into the main high street. Breakfast was very good. Mixed fresh fruit would be a good idea to display. Then the breakfast would be 10/10 . Excellent staff throughout the hotel. The gym and pool were an added bonus .It was lovely to have the facilities after a day walking around Bath. The terrace is lovely to have a drink before you head out or simply to sit and read a book or newspaper. I would definitely want to stay at this hotel again .

The room service menu needs some work. Not the quality that matched the grounds. Also the spa was busy, should be exclusive to staying customers not open to public

Probably one of the nicest hotels in the UK I’ve stayed in. This is due to the mix of pros the hotel has to offer… It’s a stunning building situated on beautiful grounds in close proximity to Bath town, with plenty of areas to sit, dine, chat and relax. The room had a real charm to it, and was substantial in size. Staff were absolutely wonderful, which makes all the difference. We were lucky to stay during beautiful sunny weather so early in the year, and to be able to relax in a heated (and I mean VERY heated, like hot-tub-hot!) swimming pool outdoors with the sun shining down on u really was heavenly. The restaurant food was fantastic, too. If a little pricey, and I wonder if that’s why it wasn’t as busy in the evenings as you’d expect. Whereas in the day many people seemed to come to the hotel to have al fresco business meetings outside in the courtyard, enjoying coffees or afternoon tea.

I don’t have any complaints whatsoever, but will feedback that the 24hr room service didn’t seem to be available late in the evenings.
