BREAKFAST GOOD .ROOM FACILITIES AND A LA CARTE RESTAURANT

FINDING OUT ON OUR LAST DAY THAT THE HOTEL HAD BEEN VISITED BY THE COUNCIL HYGIENE AND GRADED AS A 1 STAR AND NEEDS TO IMPROVE. IF I HAD REALISED THIS EARLIER IN OUR STAY I WOULD HAVE MOVED BUT THIS WOULD HAVE COME AT A HEFTY COST TO ME.

The hotel was very good, the location superb with sea views from our bedroom and the breakfast room. Breakfast food was very good, Dinner in the dining room was OK but the menu was quite small so you wouldn't want to eat in every night if you were staying for more than a couple of days. All the staff were very cheerful and helpful, we would definitely stay there again.

The hotel had a problem with the lift, I understand that they are waiting for parts to repair it. They did advise us of the problem after we had booked but when I asked for a room on the 1st floor because of our age they were very obliging.

I loved my warm welcome to the hotel and the room was very luxurious and spacious. The best point was the spectacular view from the hotel and my room.

I paid £126 for an overnight stay at your hotel. The cost should have included breakfast for that price. I spoke to a few couples who spent the same money as me and had breakfast included in their stay. I was disappointed that the hot tub jets were not whirling. Other guests complained too. No sauna and no steam room either. So I am annoyed that I never had breakfast included in my stay cost.

A beautiful hotel with wonderful sea views. The staff were all so friendly and helpful - especially Aliysha and Dan. The facilities were grand and comfortable and we loved having breakfast looking at the sea. Great choice of food and all served very nicely The only thing that was disappointing was the noise of the wind rattling through the windows. It was so loud it was difficult to sleep. We appreciate it's an old hotel and situated close to the sea but our room was underneath a balcony and some scaffolding so the noise may have been intensified. The staff were very apologetic and said they would check it out. Another time we would ask for a different room. It's in a great location for Fistral beach. We would definitely stay there again

The staff, from reception to room service team, was amazing. Everyone was exceptionally kind and friendly. The sea view from the room, the spa, and the breakfast area was spectacular. The location of the hotel is also very convenient, as it’s super close to the centre and Fistral beach. Overall, we had a fantastic experience!

The breakfast wasn’t too varied or high quality though more than satisfying for us and a bit of a shame that the sauna was still closed, but we very much enjoyed the steam room, hot tub, and pool so not really a massive issue for us!

I feel this us my new favourite hotel in Newquay. The location is excellent. The staff went above and beyond to ensure all your needs are met with a smile. It would 100% benefit from some TLC to the exterior of the hotel especially the front entrance (steps). The beds are really comfortable. The view from the dining room is amazing. The view from the bedroom is amazing. The food was all excellent and they bent over backwards to meet all dietary needs as my daughter is celiac. I wasnt impressed with the jacuzzi.. It's not what you would expect in a hotel this size and it's functioning is poor. The indoor pool was clean and refreshing. Although this hotel is dated in areas I would definitely return as both myself and my daughter absolutely loved it.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel is grand and historic, with the benefit of modern comfort. There is an air of luxury, which has been maintained and is not at all out of place or undeserved We had an ocean view room which was warm and clean, with amazing sea views. We ate at the restaurant twice, both times the food was delicious. We didn't use it, but the pool area looked lovely.

The restaurant is very chilly! Although the rest of the hotel was toasty warm, the restaurant, in an extension to the original hotel was cold both nights. It's not helped by solid marble freezing cold tables and metal chairs, which although stylish are like ice to sit on. The car park is small and really difficult to negotiate. There are decorative metal grills on the side of the building which will grate your car as you try and squeeze into tight spots.

Dissapointed that my booking for room with sea view was inpractice room with patial sea view facing inland. On the second day we were offered a room facing out to sea but by then we aere settled into our room and declined the offer. It all turned out fine in the end and had an enjoyable stay. The view turned out to be quite interesting with harbour activity and waves crashing along the different beaches visible on our left. Brekfast and dinner were perfect with helpful and very pleasant staff.

Bathroom a bit larger next time. A soap dish would have been nice.

Bed size, room size, warmth/temperature

The tap water wasn't warm, it stayed at a less than Luke warm temperature for the hot setting. Dine in option was unnecessarily expensive, £5 per meal to bring it to your room? Delivery for Uber eats costs way less and they are delivering it for miles away?! It doesn't make sense how it costs £5 to take the lift per meal? Breakfast wasn't a buffet, it was an order option, with this it needed to be fast when you're on holiday as you have places to be, it took more than 45 mins from sitting at the table to get out food. So breakfast was a 2 hour affair. As when you're on holiday you don't want to eat your food fast like you do going to work in the morning. So you are forced to spend most of the holiday eating breakfast here. TV was really old, didn't have apps.

Beautiful hotel with superb sea or harbour/beach views. Very comfortable rooms & well equipped. The hotel lobby & seating areas are elegant & breakfast was very good. Advocado & eggs on toast/tradditional fry up/Pancakes, bacon & maple syrup were on offer as well as the standard continental fare. Hotel is well located for a walk into Newquay or Fistral beach. Really enjoyed our stay thanks to very helpful staff.

No issues at all. Ideally the very top part of the hotel building will have the winter-weather induced grime cleaned off but this doesn't stop you enjoying an excellent hotel.
