We had the perfect stay at the Hostelrie. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is in a beautiful building and very peaceful surroundings. Our room was delightful. The restaurant decor is exquisite, a really beautiful room to enjoy your evening meal or breakfast. Above all I have never stayed in a hotel with such warm and helpful people. From the girl from Taunton, sorry forgot your name, to Tyler and Beth and the housekeeper they all made our stay unforgettable. Thank you also to Katherine for great communication and your husband who cooks a most wonderful breakfast. A must to visit the castle, a few minutes drive away.

Next time can you get some gluten free bread for toast please.

The bar area and the restaurant were lovely , the staff were really friendly and polite, everything's was very clean , food was well cooked and delicious 😋 . There was a lovely hessian bag in the bathroom which contained a toothbrush, toothpaste, ear plugs and a small sewing kit which could be really useful if you had forgotten something. There was also a lovely tea and coffee tray which had a selection of tea bags , fresh coffee with a cafetiere and there was a small fridge with fresh milk and some cans of water, The Hotel is in a really lovely peaceful village , Within walking distance of Goodrich Castle, which was beautiful. The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, hand lotion and body lotion all on dispensers and a small black towel for if you have been wearing make up which I think is a fab idea to save white towels ., The whole place was very clean.❤️

This is only personal preference, but I found the bed to be really hard, and the duvet was quite thin, although I did see extra bedding in the wardrobe, which I hadn't noticed the night before. The furniture in the bedroom was also quite old-fashioned. There were a few things which seemed a bit odd to me , i.e., the bathroom was really lovely, but then had a really old-fashioned wooden toilet seat, which didn't really seem to fit in with the decor, and I noticed these similar toilet seats in the toilets downstairs as well.. There is no iron or ironing board on the room .

Staff were lovely and welcoming. Food was delicious for breakfast and dinner. Room was lovely and quiet and bed comfortable. I stayed in double room to the back and it was great so I recommend that and we will all return!

My mother and auntie stayed in a twin room at the front of the property with the original old windows, which didn't fully shut and were directly above the bar and restaurant and found it very loud. They would return but stay at the back of the building next time.

Lack of choice on menu hubby only eats chicken there was chicken on the menu which he had but if we had stayed for longer would if ran out of things to have. having said that food was top notch liked sourcing of local produce and alcohol from the local area

Pretty much everything! Lovely helpful staff and owners who clearly care and want to give their guests a great experience. Beautiful building, everything immaculate, and very tastefully decorated. The food was exceptional - everything we had was beautifully cooked and one steak main we liked so much we had to have it again! Room really comfortable - immaculate, tastefully decorated, great shower, fresh milk! Lovely comfy bed. The location and setting is excellent - beautiful countryside to explore all accessible from the doorstep. Altogether, we had a really great stay here

There really wasn't anything we disliked - everything was just spot on

The Owner/manager was very warm and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. The staff were lovely too and very attentive to our needs. The bar area and restaurant the was nicely decorated and a pleasant place to eat and drink with the presence of guests and locals. The food in the bar and restaurant was very good, tasty, beautifully cooked and well presented. The breakfast was exceptional too - all freshly cooked and brought to us hot and in good time. The tea and coffee was plentiful and it was nice to have fresh milk in the fridge. The room was clean.

As we were late to book the room - we had the last room available - which was small. Also, as we were close to the external area where the beer barrels/bottles were been stored/moved and thrown out late in the evening - so it was a bit noisy. The furniture was somewhat tired and the room cluttered because of its small size. It was good to have a fridge, but it was just placed on the floor in isolation. There was no wardrobe - just a clothes rail. It would have been nice to have a couple of biscuits to go with the tea/coffee. The bath towels were not replaced for the second day of our stay.

Staff were friendly and welcoming and Tyler deserves particular mention for his helpfulness. The bedroom was warm and cosy and the bed very comfortable. The building has character and is ideally located for exploring the Wye Valley. I enjoyed dining in the bar area each evening and recommend the Butty Bach ale.

The hostess, Sally , gave us a very warm welcome, helped with our bags, and made sure that we had everything that we wanted to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful The food was freshly prepared and tasty. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again.

Everything was good.

The pub onsite was amazing, good staff, drinks and food. Rooms are quaint and have a lovely feel to them, facilities aren't super modern, but they are clean and everything works just how you'd like.

Bed was only a double, but to be fair it would be difficult to fit a larger bed in the room we stayed in.
