I was truly enchanted by the property, steeped in rich history and brimming with life during my stay, which included two beautiful weddings and a delightful birthday celebration. The grounds are absolutely stunning, offering the chance to spot native Scottish deer. The attentive staff were always available to assist with any needs, and I was blown away by the exquisite dining experience—every meal, from the hearty breakfast to the delectable buckwheat salad and heavenly desserts, was nothing short of five-star quality! I also treated myself to a rejuvenating seaweed-hot massage that provided the perfect retreat for my mind and body. The incredibly comfortable bed ensured I enjoyed restful nights. I wholeheartedly recommend this exceptional place for any occasion, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Large comfortable room. Super sized bed. Great shower. Plenty of parking. 20m indoor pool - not over-heated so good for doing laps. Buffet breakfast not overly fancy but plenty to choose from. Dinner meals (Sri Lankan Vegie curry and Beef Ale Pie and Mash) were great and saved us from having to drive back into Aberdeen. Lovely to be able to eat dinner in the lounge room overlooking the grounds. Even with a wedding ceiligh for 300 guests happening in one of the function rooms there wasn't any disruptions. Not sure if we got some special deal but our booking was great value. Not much more per night than staying in a hostel in Edinburgh. And we got breakfast as part of the package. And it was Friday/Saturday night.

Beautiful property in a lovely location, out in the countryside but a short drive to the city centre. Modern bathroom, spacious bedroom (privilege double) and lovely outlook from our room over the grounds. Great breakfast and receptionist at check in/evening shift was so friendly. Spa treatments were brilliant and staff there weee fantastic. Waiting area in the spa is a lovely space too.
Cleanliness in the room left a lot to be desired- pink/brown mould in the shower, edges of carpet not hoovered, some coffee/tea spilt on the front of the desk and not cleaned up. Mattress topper made the bed far too warm, uncomfortably so with the warm weather when we stayed.

Our room was comfortable. I'm glad we paid a wee bit extra to get a room with a view of the beautiful gardens. The variety of food available at breakfast time was impressive. We went for a swim in the spa on both days that we stayed at the hotel. We were surprised there were so few people in the pool on the first evening. On the morning of our departure, there were parent and baby classes taking place in the pool, but it was sectioned into lanes, so we didn't get in each others' way. This is a beautiful hotel, we've visited a number of times, and will book again in the future when we're planning a trip to Aberdeen.
I had a problem with the locker in the spa--after locking all of my clothes in it, I couldn't unlock it. There were no staff members available at the poolside, so I had to borrow another spa user's phone to call the hotel reception and ask them to send someone into the changing rooms with a master key. This was a minor inconvenience, it was my own fault. Because we've visited a few times in the last 3-4 years, we noticed signs of wear and tear in the carpets and furnishings both in the public corridors and in our bedroom.

Beautiful property catering mainly for large events, weddings etc. Plenty of parking and good disabled facilities, albeit we did have to ask for a shower mat as none was provided. Ideal for families and large groups, with catering to match. Food and bar very expensive for what was on offer - no wine list and chef was heavy with the salt. Wouldn’t recommend the restaurant (Wagyu steak was the toughest steak/poorest cut ever), which was quite disappointing as this place externally offers more than it delivers - especially as the pool and spa were closed during our stay.

We loved the drawing room where we enjoyed the views whilst having drinks and dinner. The staff were friendly and very helpful to our needs. The room was clean and the shower room was lovely and looked newly renovated. We had an early start so very much appreciated the take away breakfast organised by reception.
The spa was a bit tired and needs renovation. In the changing the floor was quite dirty (I was glad I brought sliders). There was a broken bench in the sauna. We didn’t spend long there. It’s not a criticism to the staff who were exceptional, but the hotel is impressive with lovely features. A uniform for staff would help keep that atmosphere with a fitting appearance to tie in with that.

We both loved the food, the meal we had was exceptional and worth the money. Our room was quiet, cosy and comfortable. The inside of the building was a joy to look around, all the paintings, drawings of the original house, decor, carpets etc
We were both slightly disappointed by how cold it was. We sat in the drawing room before dinner, it was cold and draughty. The log fire was not lit. After dinner around 8:30pm we came back through to the drawing room to sit down and enjoy a coffee. It was still cold, so I asked staff at reception if the log fire was going to be lit - Nope ! Which was really disappointing. We moved through to the whiskey bar and sat beside a radiator, and watched a few other couples wander into the drawing room and leave again. Had this fire been lit I think more guests would have enjoyed a drink in there, aiding the atmosphere also.

The location, building & setting were all perfect! My partner & I visited for our anniversary & the hotel made it special for us! Everything was very clean & prepared well. There was complimentary drinks & snacks within the room which were welcomed! The staff were all extremely polite & the food within the snug area was great value for money! Fantastic portions :-) The grounds are peaceful and the spa/pool/steam room/sauna were a great way to spend a stormy afternoon.
We couldn't spend longer than the weekend with yourselves - can't wait to visit again!

Lovely first impression of building. Inside nicely decorated though showing wear and tear though added to charm. Good selection at buffet breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room lovely. Spa and swimming pool lovely although had to go outside and no rain covered area to it. Lovely walkers biscuit each morning with new supplies of tea, coffee and milk. Water bottles in fridge replenished daily. Had lovely facials at Spa. Early morning swim was good and spa staff very helpful. Swimming pool open from 6am til 9pm and free to hotel guests. There was a timetable of swim activities such as aquafit etc on although I didn’t use these. Would def visit here again especially loved the friendly highland cow in the grounds. Just needed a bagpipe player standing at the hotel doorway for a full Scottish experience.
Having to go out in the rain to get to the spa. A covered walkway would have been nice.

Lovely hotel and staff. Large airy rooms, modern shower and toilet. Very comfy beds and loved being able to open the windows
The dinner wasn’t great. I had Cullen Skink - rather than chunks of fish it was in one big chunk, the broth was tasteless, no potatoes and hard carrots. It didn’t come with any bread which is unheard of and when we asked for some (this was when we still expected a rich tasty broth), it was like supermarket bread and not home made. My friends had Cranachan but again, nothing like that dish, it was like a pannacotta with a few raspberries and no oats. Lastly we’d chosen the hotel for its Spa but all 3 bookings were either booked in for the wrong day, or were cancelled due to an emergency the day before we arrived. We’d booked using Itison vouchers and were told we’d need to seek refunds from them ourselves which added extra hassle and anxiety to our deep disappointment.
