Glad to have stayed at Kamagasaki as absolutely love what it stands for. An amazing place for the vulnerable and challenged population of Osaka. Please stay here to help them keep their charitable work going! Plus, the artwork throughout is so unique and amazing.
This is definitely a poor area of Osaka and therefore very different from most of Japan that tourists get to see. Expect to see lots of alcohol being consumed and the challenges that go along with that. We didn’t feel unsafe but we did feel on edge when walking back late in the evening. There are some cool sights within walking distance.

Very very homey and comfy. They have lots of activities that you can do there. The staff was extremely friendly, the garden was beautiful such as the whole accomodation. They even have a little shop in the front with second hand clothing (for people who forgot to take warm clothes with them :D!!) so its very convenient. The area is okay, you have a family mart not so far and a Seven Eleven, the station is 5 min by foot.
I dont know if it was maybe by mistake or because of the guests from before that left it like that, but my bedding wasnt clean or apparent that it was washed, not dramatic since you get washed sheets that you can throw over!!

As a pianist and a credentialed music teacher as well as a Korean language teacher in public schools in Los Angeles, when I saw the vibe of this place via videos and pictures posted in Google maps by guests and host, I thought to myself, ‘These are MY people!’ I had a wonderful 3 nights stay in one of their private room traveling solo in Japan before going on to Hong Kong to meet up with a friend for 2 nights, and then to Korea for the rest my 3 week trip. I want to come back here and enjoy the family like vibe and enjoy their delicious home cooked meals they offer for 1300 yen. That was under $9 US dollars. You just beed to let them know at least an hour before meal time that you intend to join them for the meal.

I really enjoyed staying at this hostel. The atmosphere is great. Everyone is kind, nice and happy. I like a lot the community vibe, and the chill style. There is art everywhere. My favorite were the books in the toilette. It is super clean. I saw them cleaning in the morning and I never saw people doing such a deep diary clean before. They serve dinner and breakfast for a super cheap price. Both great. And for dinner I ate until I couldn't anymore. It was lovely to share dinner in the hostel. The location is also great. I totally recommended!!!
That I had to leave. I would have stay so much longer!

I had a pleasant stay at this guesthouse. It’s well located, making it easy to use public transportation and explore the city. The space was clean and comfortable, with a cozy dormitory setup. What I appreciated most was the sense of community—locals often gathered on the ground floor for activities or shared meals, creating a relaxed and welcoming vibe. The staff were friendly and thoughtful, regularly offering hot tea. It’s a nice spot to both rest and unwind if you need a break from exploring.
Unrelated to the staff but I did a laundry, dried it out and one of my t-shirt disappeared. I guess one of the guest must have not paid attention and took it by mistake but it was still very frustrating.

Probably my favorite place I’ve been to! The place itself is beautiful and interesting, full of art and books and music. The staff is incredibly nice and welcoming, making you feel at home right away. Its like a family there. The staff and the guests and so many costumers who come back every day, and for a good reason. For a really cheap and reasonable price you can eat lunch or dinner with everyone, and I highly recommend taking part in making the meal. Everyone can and is joining, and its so much fun. The neighborhood is very different from others. Its kind of poor and very diverse, which I actually love, but if you’re looking for a high class area its probably not the one. As a girl, I suggest not waking around alone late at night. I can keep on writing about how amazing the cocoroom is, but I highly recommend to just go and see for yourself. And one more little thing, the bed is probably the most comfortable one I’ve slept in😁
Nothing not to like.

It's a beautiful hostel with artwork everywhere and very hospitable staff that have worked hard to create a great community feeling amongst travellers as well as putting on events for local people. This hostel isn't for everyone, but it is perfect for those who are looking to socialise with other guests and to dine with local Japanese people.
It can get quite cold in the common areas and the room, but there are plenty of blankets and hot tea!

This is quite a unique hostel, as it seems to offer many more activities. It functions as a meeting places, has a cafe, a shop and is filled with various art pieces made by locals or those who passed by. There is also a shared breakfast and dinner one can attend for 1100 yen. Which is quite unique as it is homemade with the help of those in the hostel. Other than that the facilities, bedding and such are all in order.
Please note that you have to pay 100 yen to rent a towel. There are several locked doors in the building, which you open using a keycard. Getting to your sleeping area for example involves opening three locked doors. This is due to the second nature of the hostel acting as a store and more. Please also note that the hostel is located in a somewhat more seedy area. The red light district is for example a stone throw away and many of the bars nearby have female barkers at night. This on the other hand also is a unique experience compared to the rest of Osaka.

Really nice social athmosphere and staff. Room for communication and morning exercises to get together and start tje day of nicely. Lot of space downstairs in the community area. Second hand shop in the entrance. Got an award for the categorie "arts and homelessness". They host art events.
Room was a bit too tiny to organize all of our luggage. The surrounding area is known for poverty and homelessness which can be scary even though nothing bad happens. I did not mind much. The interior was very maximalistic which can be a bit overwhelming.

What a great place to have found. The atmosphere here was lovely, creative and interesting with really friendly staff and guests too. It felt like a calm oasis in the middle of a busy hectic city off a quite potentially noisy area. Having the outside space was really a bonus and the view from the roof top really great to see. The guest house was extremely clean and being a European though the bed was harder than I am used too it was softer than in other Japanese homes I've stayed in. The bedding was clean and fresh always. The showers, sinks and toilets kept immaculate too.
