Pretty much your ideal 3 star hotel. Rooms are small compared to North America but reasonable for East Asia. Hotel is nicely put together. The rooms have a pleasant aesthetic. The location is both close to the "temple district" and the downtown area. Quite walkable
It didn't impact us but doors shutting at midnight with no way to get in could be an issue for many people. I would be looking at revising that policy if I were the manager.

All of the staff went above and beyond to help and were so friendly. They really made my stay better. Nothing was too much trouble. Comfy bed, Quiet, felt safe in that area, cute tasty continental breakfast, lift.
Trying to find it for the first time jet lagged and tired with no obvious name. I’ve added a pic of the cute sandy entrance! Hopefully that will help someone else find it better.

Very clean and comfy hotel in a good position to explore Kyoto. Helpful staff. Yummy little breakfast. The fresh fruit was a nice touch
Having to give your key in every time you leave the hotel. Having a midnight curfew. Possibly could have had a larger breakfast

Very lovely place with beautiful tranquil cypress baths in the rooms. The rooms were simple but elegant and very nice, with small terraces and large bathrooms with beautiful painted fixtures. The bed was small but moderately comfortable. Very pleasant lighting as well, and very clean. The neighborhood is just gorgeous. Very peaceful and historical, and not too touristy or crowded. Lots of incredible food nearby as well, and they serve a wonderful continental breakfast with great coffee.
They don't mention on the listing that there is a 12AM curfew!! They take your room key any time you exit, then give it back when you re-enter. Meaning if you aren't back at midnight, you have no key lol so you have to They are very insistent about reminding you to be back before midnight any time you leave at night. I don't really mind the curfew, but I wish it was mentioned on the listing because it was kind of a surprise and seemed like it would be a very big deal if you broke it. Only one pillow on the bed and it was very small. Still absolutely recommend this place though, very nice spot to stay for an authentic Kyoto experience.

Good hotel. modern decor. clean. Perfect location close to Gion, so perfect. staff friendly. room size is decent, has a lovely bath and everything you need. breakfast was 3 pastries, fruit, yoghurt, corn flakes, milk, juice, tea/coffee, water all served to you. The hotel is in a quiet street, but 2 blocks away from the main road and the station for Gion.
Breakfast was too early 7am to 8h30. The hotel doors are locked between midnight and 5am, for safety they say, but we felt it could be restrictive, but then again everything is closed around the area then. There's a mention of drinks between 5pm and 7pm, but we never got that. Didn't see any drinks on display or anyone having and we looked around.

I was very impressed the second I saw the hotel entrance and the rest of the hotel didn’t let me down. I loved the small and cozy room. Everything was very good quality and the bed (duvet especially) were so lovely. Beautiful cup to drink tea from. The cypress bath was beautiful and relaxing. Good location near beautiful, narrow and peaceful streets. The staff was very friendly. I wish I would have stayed longer!
There was a balcony but the view was blocked. You have to leave the room key to front desk when going outside and come back before midnight (the doors get locked). It didn’t bother me but it’s good to acknowledge beforehand.

Everything was amazing. 1. Great location, 2. the water pressure in the shower was insane, 3. I wish I could take the bedsheets home with me, 4. Super clean, everything feels new, 5. The personnel was exceptionally kind, 6. The toiletries were great. I will definitely stay here next time in Kyoto

A really lovely place to stay, lovely high quality wood finishes. Having breakfast included was helpful given there aren't a lot of options for breakfast out in Japan in general. The staff were so friendly and extremely helpful, they helped us send our bags on to Tokyo and made it an easy experience.
The only thing I feel needs to be improved was the shower. Even through the shower room and bath were stunning and having a bath was lovely. The angle/placement of both the shower head holders was very awkward, resulting in the water spraying horizontally straight at the wall rather than on a usable angle.

Probably the prettiest room we have stayed in so far. The wooden bathroom was very cool! Location was good as it's about 10 minutes from the station and is located in a geisha district. Breakfast service was lovely but the thing that stood out the most to us was the customer service! Staff were amazing, super friendly and accommodating. They really were the best part of the stay.
We did have to hand our room key over everytime we left the building which was a little inconvenient (especially as we tend to come and go a lot). The hotel also closes at midnight so you're stuck outside until they reopen at 5 a.m. if you don't make it back in time. This wasn't an issue for us but I can see how it'd impact other guests' stay. There was a weird smell on our last night, which I assume was a plumbing issue? We flushed the toilet and ended up opening the balcony doors and the smell went away but it was very strange (happened around 3 a.m. too, spooky!)

Very professionally run - everything was exactly as advertised and explained upfront. Efficient and cheerful support- no vagueness or confusion in communication. Matcha tea welcome was a nice touch. Very comfy bed and an alternative pillow was given to be at my request. The bath tub was lovely- pretty toiletries and hair styling equipment in the room. I felt safe there while travelling alone. Breakfast was simple international style -cooked pancakes for example with fruit- and good.
Breakfast was served within a narrow time window. This worked most days for me and on the other day I ate elsewhere. There were options nearby although most did not open until 10.00am.
