The room was beautiful, and the view was absolutely exceptional. Sitting out and looking over the river, watching the cranes, we counted 10 at one point, a man sat feeding them, another threw meat into the air feeding hawks that flew down catching fish right in front of us. A woman came at sunset and played the flute beneath our balcony while we watched the sun go down over the mountains and temples, honestly I could have stayed there forever it was magical. Gion, Nishi market, and many wonderful sights and temples are within walking distance. We found a market nearby and bought vintage kimonos for a few pounds for myself and my children. Our children LOVED the little room divided wooden wall dividers and the traditional beds. I have to also make a special point of saying how wonderful the manager Alex is. Not only is he brilliantly helpful and kind, helped us when our daughter fell poorly, and went out of his way to attend to our every need, also seems to run it single handedly, but when we got into trouble the day before we left with transfering our luggage to the airport he sorted everything out for us, made sure it was sent to a nearby depo, printed off instructions for my partner to get there, messaged us to make sure we were ok and had got our luggage ok and just generally went above and beyond. What a wonderful man! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to families.
Honestly nothing. I would have moved in if i hadn't have had to leave! The lift was too small to fit all four of our suitcases and all four of us in haha, but i didnt want to leave anyway!

A Spacious and Scenic Stay in the Heart of Kyoto Kyoto RiverView House exceeded all expectations! The unit was incredibly spacious, easily accommodating three adults with luggage, which is a rare find in Japan. The location is unbeatableâright in the heart of Kyoraku, surrounded by Kyotoâs most iconic temples and shrines. The view from the unit was breathtaking, overlooking the river, two beautiful shrines, and a Buddha statue across the water. Exploring the city was a breeze, with the world-famous Nishiki Market just a pleasant 15-minute walk away. The only downside was that the windows werenât double-glazed, which let in quite a bit of cold during winter. However, this was a minor issue compared to the overall comfort and convenience of the stay. If youâre looking for a spacious, well-located accommodation with stunning views, Kyoto RiverView House is an excellent choice! âââââ (4.5/5)
As I said, double glaze the windows over the river.

The location is amazing - just across the river from Gion but a little quieter. The views from the river side are great and I really enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching birds and fish and the city. The apartment is quiet large. Although it is 2 rooms, the walls between are slatted so no privacy from the kids at night. A small dining table and couch made it a very comfortable place to stay.
The only complaint about the place is the pillows - in not sure what they are filled with but they are hard and uncomfortable. I ended up using a cushion from the couch.

We stayed 2 nights and everything was wonderful. Our party had 3 people and a futon was made up and ready for us on arrival. The room was very clean and comfortable and looked out over the canal - a special surprise. We ordered breakfast bento boxâs which were great to have before busy days of sight seeing and delicious (we especially enjoyed the vegetarian box). The host was very accommodating, friendly and helpful, even helping us plan the most direct and least expensive trip back to Osaka airport. The street is very quiet but still only a short walk to several different public transport spots. I would definitely book here again!

Large apartment style room, we booked a river view which had a small balcony, this was lovely to stand on in the morning sunshine and watch the herons fishing in the river. It has a washing machine, stovetop, microwave and fridge freezer all really useful. Some English labels but used google translate to work all electricals properly. There is a drying rack which we put on the balcony to dry our washing, the machine can dry but wasnât sure if it would be too hot for our clothes so didnât use it. We stayed for 4 days so it was good to have enough space to unload our cases and have a sort out before leaving for another small hotel room in Shizuoka.
No UK tv, but this is normal at all bar one of our Japan hotels.

The property is located in a very convenient and beautiful area and very close to all the trains and buses. Itâs also within walking distance to many tourist attractions and shops and markets. Since itâs located by the river in a relatively quiet area there is no traffic disturbance and I always slept well. The surrounding is simple stunning and the staff are most friendly and helpful. I would like to say a special thank you to the front desk staff Alex who posted my laptop that I left behind by mistake on the same day as I called. He was very courteous, efficient and helpful. I would highly recommend this place and will surely like to stay here if I visited Kyoto again in the future.
Nothing I dislike.

Front desk hosts are great! They are extremely helpful and super pleasant. Alex made sure we know how to get help if needed especially at night when thereâs no English speaking staff at the front desk. Yuya and Dani saved us from missing our scheduled tour. The first taxi that we were waiting for didnât come and my familyâs getting panicky. They helped us get another taxi and we got to our tourâs meeting place just on time! So grateful for them. Spacious property for four people. It can accommodate 2 more. We didnât cook but there are basic cooking utensils provided and front desk has seasonings. Love the river view. If itâs not that chilly I would have stayed at the patio longer to see the sun rise and just people watch. Joggers and people walking their dog by the river as early as 4 am. Heater works great. Thereâs also air purifier. Love that thereâs a washing machine and that we hang out clothes to dry with the drying rack provided. Enough towels are in the room during check in. They have towels near the front desk that you can grab and thereâs a hamper to put in the dirty ones. There are towels to grab if you need new ones. Thereâs no cleaning staff on our 4 days stay. We didnât mind since weâre mostly out and not need any cleaning or emptying garbage. Yes you have to dispose your own garbage if it gets full before you check out. There are garbage bins on the corner. Comforters are great, pillows are not the fluffy ones.

The place is more of a ryokan style w/ serene riverfront. Good for family w/ most amenities available. The front desk Eric & Vincent are awesome & very accommodating. Place near Gion district and 17 -20 mins walk to Nishiki market.
Itâs a bit of 20-25 mins walk from kyoto station . If you have luggage better take a taxi -1,200-1500 yen or bus.

Had the pleasure of staying at this hotel during my travels to Kyoto, and I was thoroughly impressed with what it had to offer. The location is outstanding, nestled near Kawaramachi Shijo. The area surrounding the hotel is remarkably quiet, providing a peaceful retreat after a day of exploration. Additionally, the kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped, boasting a complete set of tools that made cooking a breeze. What stood out to me was the thoughtful provision of various condiments like salt and pepper at the front desk, which significantly enhanced the cooking experience. The staff at the front desk were nothing short of kind and helpful, making my stay even more pleasant. A particular highlight of the hotel is the Kamogawa Riverview. The view from the balcony, overlooking the serene Kamogawa, is truly a marvel, offering a tranquil space to relax and reflect on the day's adventures.
However, there was a minor drawback that I noticed during my stay. The sound insulation between the floors seems to be lacking, as I could occasionally hear the footsteps from the room above mine. This was a slight annoyance, especially during quiet evenings. Despite this, the overall experience at the hotel was exceptional, and the positives far outweighed this minor inconvenience.

The property boasted a fantastic location, just a stone's throw away from the train station and vibrant shopping areas, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the surrounding attractions. The accommodations were truly comfortable, providing a restful night's sleep that left us rejuvenated. What truly stood out, however, was the staff; they were exceptionally friendly and attentive, always willing to go the extra mile to meet our needs and ensure our stay was enjoyable.
Nothing at all.
