The staff was warm, hospitable and patient. They were polite, courteous, and greeted guests everytime they see us. I was thankful to them for helping us check with the next hotel if they will accept our luggage in advance, and offered to store them and deliver them a later time to fit the next hotel's schedule. We initially thought we would not survive the tatami experience but it was actually more comfortable than hotel beds. Thank you to the Luck You Team for making this experience so wonderful!

It wasn't near any metro or JR stations (i.e. not within 3 to 7 min walks). But it is highly accessible by bus from kyoto station, shopping areas and attractions. Which means it will be really convenient for guests to deliver their big luggages at least via TaQBin or the like when making your way to the guesthouse on the day of checkin/check out.

I loved this place. Location was good in central Kyoto and the buses nearby could take you anywhere you may want to visit. You can also buy a day pass for the buses at the ryokan! the futon was very comfortable and the traditional pjs provided were very soft. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They gave me all sorts of information about places to visit, how to get there and events going on during my visit. There was also a complimentary ticket to use the onsen opposite them free of charge and they gave you a little basket with amenities to use while there which was fantastic! I recommend it unreservedly if you're staying in Kyoto.

We spent two days in Kyoto, and this hotel was the perfect choice! It's located in a quiet residential area—very peaceful, yet easily accessible thanks to the many nearby bus routes. It's also within walking distance of the city center and its main attractions. The staff were friendly and welcoming. On our last day, we needed to store our luggage for a few hours, and they were happy to help without any issues. The rooms are compact but very comfortable. Some members of our group had rooms with an inner garden, which looked beautiful, especially at night. Overall, it's a great place to stay when visiting Kyoto!

We liked everything about the hotel!

Booked this property for the onsen access due to being heavily tattooed and it did not disappoint! The staff were so friendly and accommodating, go the extra mile taking you over and explain everything a first time go-er needs to know! As well as supplying a lovely lil soap basket. The room was very clean and traditional, futon was surprisingly comfy! Staff also offer to make it for you. Breakfast was nice, simple selection of fruits toast and Japanese. The staff could not do enough for you and it was probably the best place we stayed on our trip out of 4 hotels definitely recommend! It is a bit of a walk to the station but we didn’t mind that.

Our first time trying a Ryokan style hotel in Japan. What an experience! The property is beautiful, full of authentic charm with a cute zen garden. Our room was clean, decently sized, with a tatami floor and futon beds to experience sleeping the traditional Japanese way. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. I wish we could have stayed longer. They spend time at check-in to explain all the property has to offer, give you many treats to enjoy, and make the guest feel special. The best guest experience I've ever had!!! We feel Lucky ❤️

The breakfast served was delicious but not outstanding. Nothing wrong with the food, just simpler than we thought.

What a great service, what a great place, what a great breakfast 🙏 The room we stayed was Momo It was nice decorated and enough for three The room and bathroom was super clean. The bathroom was little narrow but it is perfectly fine for us. The breakfast was mix of eastern and western and it was fullfilling. By the way the breakfast is a big plus because you dont spend time to go for breakfast and even to think of where to eat. The staff was professional, super kind and lovely. The location is very close to a bus stop where you can easily go to the most common spots by using them. Finally, We loved our stay here and recommend to anyone seeking a japanese ryokan experience and meet with great staff. Life is an experience and this was a great experience for me and my family 🙏

An unexpected gem, which showcased great Japanese hospitality by the staff, who are proficient in English. Arrived before check in time for luggage storage. As soon as we were done with the paperwork, staff welcomed us into the lobby area for a short break, where we were served drinks and helped to answer questions we had as tourists. We even managed to get the bus pass at the ryokan itself. During check in, we were served snacks as the staff shared information about the ryokan, including the complimentary onsen tickets for the onsen just opposite the ryokan. Staff also did a room tour with us and offered to help us setup the futon beds. To round up the stay, the ryokan served a simple buffet breakfast, with the attentive staff topping up the dishes which were running out. During check out, staff asked we needed any help to get a taxi, but we didn't need to as there was a bus top nearby If you are looking for a ryokan experience at an affordable price, this is it.

This is a super little establishment that is thoroughly authentic Japanese. We chose a Japanese style bedroom which proved to be precisely that. It was an average size room (for Japan) which contained just two legless chairs and a small low table. The beds was a rolled up thin mattress' and duvet in the cupboard! This was laid out in the evening for us and was comfortable. We asked for a double mattress and it became very comfortable! We were fine, but you wouldn't want to do this is your had any form of limited physical ability. There were four rooms of this style next to each other and we found it comfortable and far quieter than I had imaged. The WIFI was very good in the room. We stayed for four nights. There are 'Western' style rooms also available. There is a small but functional bathroom, with a shower over the small bath. Directly opposite the building is a public bath that were were provided with free access to. It a cultural expedience, very similar to an Onsen, but with heated rather than hot spring water. We enjoyed it. Breakfast if a buffet style and good, and taken in one of several communal rooms on the ground floor. You can eat in the Japanese style or on more conventional chairs and tables. The staff were absolutely brilliant. Either guiding you through Japanese customs and etiquette, or through to the normal customer experience you would want for a stay in Japan. This little establishment was absolutely perfect for our stay in Kyoto, but you must be prepared to 'go with' the Japanese approach.

The signage on the outside of the hotel is very small and discrete. I stood directly outside with a map and still couldn't initially work out where it was. Then location is not great for any of the sights. That said the North/South tube is 13 minutes walking away and the staff provide a map of all the bus stops that give access to the sights.

Very traditional ryokan with a home vibe. As soon as we walked in all staff were super friendly and we got great advice on where to go and the best way to get there. Room was very clean. Fantastic breakfast which included Japanese pickles, tamagoyaki, toast, sandwich variety, rice and miso soup a home style Japanese breakfast which was tasty and fresh. Staff continued to check in with us and offer advice. An Onsen across the road where you get free tickets, I suggest to go later in the evening for a less crowded experience. Would recommend if you want a traditional stay in Japan.

Room and bathroom were small but to be expected and this was clear in the description.

Thank you Luck You Kyoto team! Everything was excellent! We stayed in 9 hotels on our Japan trip, and Luck You ryokan was the best in terms of kindness. We really felt in our Japanese house. The rooms are simple and small, but so well organized. It was such a nice experience to sleep on the futon for two nights. The welcome treatment and clear explanation of anything we could ask for was so nice. I also thank you for helping me to book the restaurants I wanted. We will definitely recommend you!

The position is not so "easy" by walk. But the kind ryokan staff gives you a map with all the shops and restaurants on a walking distance. With a good walk of 20 minutes you may reach Gion. Buses are very close to the ryokan but crowded, so better not to try them with your suitcases on busy hours. And the train station is at 10 minutes taxi distance.
