It was in a very popular street for youth to go shopping and I really liked that. There’s great vintage/thrift stores that I recommend checking out. There were a lot of food options nearby. The hotel room was very clean and spacious plus also nicely decorated. Breakfast was super tasty! Lastly, the staff was very kind and cute. They spoke english well, not a must but definitely appreciated!
I didn’t like that there was no seperate entrance for hotelstayers and customers for the café. Walking through the café with big lugage was not ideal because of the bumping into chairs and tables. I also preferred to check in with more privacy as you had to do this in the café part as well. If you reserved breakfast, you had to choose the moment you checked in what you wanted to eat the next day. I understand that the staff wants to prepare but I would have preferred the day self what I was craving in that moment. These are some minor things but I thought I’d mention it anyway.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Lamp Light Books Hotel. First, the hotel is unique with a full cafe on the first floor. Always busy since it a 24 hour cafe. Second, the hotel room was clean. Maybe cleanest I have stayed in Japan. Since the accommodation was new, that may have an effect on cleanliness, but the staff takes care of the facility. Convenient to Tenjin shopping and restaurants. Since the hotel is close to everything, there is some outside noise, but nothing a little white noise cannot overcome (plus earplugs were provided if needed). Overall, I would stay again in the future.

If you’re a book lover or just someone who appreciates a calm, aesthetic vibe, you’ll probably love this place. The lobby and café area feel like a modern library - relaxing music, gorgeous bookshelves, and plenty of cozy seating with power outlets at every spot. Perfect for catching up on emails, working, studying, or planning your next ramen stop. Even better, the café is open 24/7. One night I found myself sitting in the library-style lounge from midnight to 2am, sipping tea and planning my next day on my laptop. Super peaceful and such a rare find. The café serves decent coffee - nothing to write home about, but it does the job. If you like your coffee strong (like, wake-me-up strong), I’d suggest asking for an extra shot or less milk to give it more punch. Their standard ratio leans heavily into the milk side of life. Soy milk was available, which was great. Unfortunately, no oat milk on offer. My double room was spotless and well laid out, with a comfy reading chair that made the whole "book hotel" theme feel like more than just branding. The toilet and shower setup was also impressive. The staff were super friendly and helpful - they also booked me a taxi without any fuss and answered all my questions with a smile. Location-wise, it’s solid. About a 10-minute taxi (roughly 1,100 yen) to or from Hakata Station, and an easy walk to Tenjin. You’re also surrounded by bars, restaurants, and convenience stores, so there’s no shortage of options. If retail therapy’s on the agenda, Canal City Shopping Centre is about a 20-minute walk or a quick 10-minute cab ride.
Only downside? A particularly loud flock of crows decided to start every morning with a chaotic little concert outside my window around 4–5am. Obviously not the hotel’s fault, but if you’re a light sleeper or not an early morning person, you might want to pack earplugs. If you're an early riser - congrats, you’ve just scored yourself a feathered alarm clock!

I just love this hotel. From the moment you walk into the lovely smell of croissants baking to the friendly and helpful staff, it just has this very homely feel to it. Watanabe was super helpful with booking Yamato for luggage transfer and offering suggestions around the area. The cafe has such a lovely ambience about it, I could spend hours perched in an armchair reading a book. I love the coffee too, made perfectly to my taste. The location of Lamp Light Books Hotel is fantastic, right in the middle of the trendy Daimyo area. It's a 5 minute walk to the train station and bus stops too. Highly recommend for location and hotel ambience.

Cool hotel slap bang in the middle of some great restaurants and shops. The ground floor is mostly taken up with a library themed cafe. There were limited food options - mainly sandwiches and cakes but the food was tasty. The coffee was very good. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was clean but cramped - so much so that we contemplated seeing if we could book a second room. We did spot one room that looked as though it had some sort of bunk bed arrangement - which might have made that room less cramped. There is a laundry room on the ground floor which was a bonus.

Lamp Light Books Hotel in Fukuoka was beyond my expectations. I arrived in the late morning (around 11:00am) and relaxed in the hotel lobby until check-in. The hotel lobby provided such a calm and relaxing atmosphere, with a cafe at the heart of it. I would often end my nights with an iced matcha to take to my room and even spent an evening in the hotel, relaxing before dinner (you even get a discount on cafe items if you are staying at the hotel). The hotel's location is a 10 minute walk away from the subway station which takes you to Hakata. There are lots of shopping, dining and cafes located nearby - a soft-serve store was just across the street, it was a nice treat to enjoy upstairs.
I don't have any outstanding negative complaints about this hotel. I loved my time in Kyushu, and if I am able to visit again, I would stay at Lamp Light Books Hotel.

The location of this hotel is excellent for exploring Fukuoka. The rooms were cosy but very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful when we requested to forward our luggage on to our next hotel. There's a good selection of coffee and beers downstairs too. As well as a whole selection of books you could pick up and take back to your room if you wanted to. This place had a lovely atmosphere and was a great base for our short stay in Fukuoka. I would gladly stay here again and recommend to others.
One very small recommendation - The hairdryer being stored directly next to the sink basin had toothpaste splats on it from people brushing their teeth. We could see it had toothpaste on it from previous guests. From a hygiene perspective, I would recommend adding the cleaning of this to the steps when cleaning the room, or move the hairdryer to a higher or different location so it remains clean.

1/3rd bookstore, 1/3 cafe, 1/3 hotel. The concept alone is cozy and relaxing, and the actual experience lives up to that. The staff are incredibly kind and the atmosphere is calming. It was raining during a good portion of time I was in Fukuoka and there was nothing better than coming back to this hotel in the rain, ordering a matcha latte and relaxing in the lobby with a good book and music softly playing in the background.
The location is a bit farther away from the major train stations than I thought at first - about a 10 minute walk. Not a big deal, but make sure you add a 10+ minute buffer to any trip you're taking. Also, breakfast is pretty limited with just six variations of croissant sandwiches (they're all delicious, though!).

Love this little hotel, what a gem! Located right in Daimyo, a hip neighbourhood in Fukuoka - loads of clothing shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. Downstairs lobby doubles as a 24/7 cafe and coworking space - so cute! Staff were all insanely lovely and helpful. Laundry machine downstairs was super convenient also! As for the room itself, although it looked small the bed is MASSIVE and so so comfortable! We were able to fit our 2 large suitcases fine. Bathroom was really nice with the bathtub and shower are modern and separated in a wet room. Will definitely be staying here again!
No notes, we really enjoyed our stay!

The hotel lobby is a 24 hour cafe with attentive staff and amazing popularity with locals that are not hotel guests. This is actually very positive, because the constant presence of customers creates an environment that feels super safe and lively. The hotel rooms are typical for Japan, small but with everything one needs, practical, efficient and clean. It has a coin operated laundry facility, which we did use and was super convenient. What we liked the most was the location. At first glance in seems a bit out of "the action" of the more commercial streets, but in fact, this is what turned out to be most appealing. It blends with the neighborhood, which is very safe and clean, with the typical Japanese mixed use type of setting with many small shops, restaurants and bars intermixed with the residential buildings. It was great to feel like it was OUR neighborhood that made us feel very welcome.
There was nothing that I did not like.
