Great location and lovely building,we have stayed here on and off for over 25 years. Always comfortable, clean with friendly staff. The breakfast is also excellent. Booked a small double this time as it was a good price, however it really was small. The bedroom was reasonable for what we needed, clean comfortable bed. The bathroom however was tiny and would not be suitable for everyone. Another downside was the noise from the water in the pipes everytime anybody in the hotel turned on a tap or flushed the loo, not to mention the guests above walking about rattled the lampshade in our room. Probably won't be back again due to this.

Again loved our stay here , not to far away from the start of the main town of York Easy to find and parking for one car per room ( £10 charge per night ) This is a well established place from the main building to the out buildings We stayed in the main building on request and enjoyed a comfortable and more than adequate sized room for our stay The loverly stairway leads up from the lobby reception to corridors for individual rooms ( we had a bonus the first room before this and previously more attic type room ) the staff member Joseph welcomed us on arrival and also was point of email contact, went through check in etc and anything there after always offering any further assistance. We quickly got settled in and chilled with a purchased drink at the bar very reasonably priced!! Getting in on the happy hour well 2 actually but also was give a first purchase ticket of 10% off drinks ( not combined discounts ) Breakfast is always a plus here very nice and always plenty to have plus tea coffee juices

Can’t fault it (has a few minor points if you want be fussy like a tile cracked in the bathroom or a bit of mastic missing )

Good and quiet location. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Plenty choice of cooked breakfast. Breakfast room staff are most friendly and warm. However it has a major drawback - the bathroom. Whist we can put up with it's tiny size and no plug for shaver the shower itself is unbearablly weak almost like dripping. We had two rooms one on the 1st floor and another on ground floor. Both have very weak water flow. The owner really needs to install a house pump to increase water pressure to provide decent showers.

Location was excellent for the center.Direct booking through the B&B entitles you to free parking.As we booked through Booking.com we encurred a £10 a day charge.Breakfast choice is good and a full Yorkshire was 2 rashers of Bacon 1 Egg 1 sausage beans mushroom grilled tomato.Toast as required.A selection of cereals , Yoghurt and Jam.Tea and Coffee.The staff are really friendly and helpful.And appear a happy team of people.Breakfast served 8 -9.30 during week.We would probably hit room at 9.10 They were quick to clear the tables so felt a little rushed.But that would be our only criticism.If we book again will look to book 2 singles or king size if available.As a foor foot 6 double is a bit tight for a big Lad and a little lady.

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The staff were all very pleasant and cheerful and courteous and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Our room was at the top of the hotel and was an excellent size with a good bathroom. We slept well and it was exceptionally quiet on a night. The bathroom was a decent size with a good shower. Breakfasts were excellent with a varied choice of cooked items which were all cooked to order and of good quality. The hotel is in a very quiet side street off one of the main roads into York and was in a good location. We were on foot and able to walk into the centre of York in about 10 minutes.

There was really nothing to dislike.

B&B York was perfect for what we needed for a short stay. About a 15minute walk to the centre, which was perfect as we love to walk. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Our room was visually clean but we dropped something under the sofa and there were chocolate buttons hiding, other than that everything else looked clean! Bed was comfortable and room was warm. We had a large flat screen tv with netflix, prime etc. There are no toiletries in the room but available on request which is great and avoids waste! Breakfast was okay, you can choose from a menu and there is also cereals, tea, coffee and juices available. Overall, we were super impressed!!

Andy and all the staff at the hotel were very friendly, polite and helpful. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable. The lounge area was lovely and it was great that they had a bar with a range of drinks and you could get a beer on tap. The quality and quantity of the breakfast was excellent as was the service. So pleased that B+B York is dog friendly. Our dog was welcomed to go anywhere with us in and around the hotel. Lovely to have a small outside area where we were able to have our picnic on arrival with our young children before heading into town. Parking onsite was a bonus. Where the hotel is situated allows an easy stroll into the centre of York with all its amenities.

Would like to think if you are staying at the hotel you could park for free on the hotel car park even if it is only for the first 24 hours.

Cheap & cheerful, great location with a bit of a walk to town but doable, great breakfast, clean room.

We were really disappointed they wouldn’t allow us to check in 20 minutes early especially when we had driven 5 hours from scotland, we really needed to freshen up before we walked into town but we were sent off for the trek into town before they’d allow us to check in, then all the way back to freshen up then back into town again for dinner. We asked for a late check out & was asked what time we’d like then it changed to an extra fee, won’t be staying there again. No toiletries in the room either, had to ask for them.

Staff very friendly and helpful. I am 80 years old, am told I don't look it, walk with a stick and appreciiate offers of practical help. My room was on the 2nd floor, no lift, they apologised but I was very lucky to get a single room in a a central location just before Easter. I managed the stairs with help, no problem. Room perfect for my needs, v clean and comfortable. I was in York for the Theatre Royal that night. Reception ordered a taxi for me to the Ivy for a meal before the show - delicious - then I walked to the Theatre, 10 mins away, and had a wonderful evening. Thought I could walk back to the B+B but took a wrong turning so called a taxi, but what arrived was a huge vehicle and trying to ciimb up the step I lost my balance and fell and broke my shoulder. Ambulance came in 5 mins (!) and York Hosital gave me priority care cos of my age. Taxi to B+B at 12.30 am (I phoned ahead) and I was given all the help I needed to get to bed, propped up with pillows, furniture rearranged so I could get myself out of bed safely. Woke early. packed case slowly and made it down to the dining room for a Yorkshire Vegetarian Breakfast - wonderful - ate it all, mostly with my fingers as left hand is awkward and right arm strapped up in a sling. Staff were so caring, lovely team of young people, nothing too much trouble.. Called me a taxi to the station and waited with me till it arrived. Special thanks to the young guy on reception and to Holly who gave me a big hug as I left. Exceptional service, just what you hope to find when accidents happen.
