We have stayed here twice now because of its location in beautiful Port Sunlight. Free Parking. Lovely breakfast. Friendly staff. Lovely big room. The train station is a 10 minute walk away, and there are regular trains to the centre of Liverpool or Chester. For £7.50 you can get a smart card with a day's travel anywhere in Liverpool on train, bus and ferry across the Mersey. (£1 for reusable card + £6.50 for train, bus ferry travel)
The only negative is that the stair carpet leading to rooms needs replacing. It is covered in tape on the edges for safety, but it is off-putting when you first arrive and are being taken to your room. But this did not detract from our wonderful stay.

The room was very good, the bed really comfortable. The staff were helpful and courteous and the overall impression was of a clean, welcoming establishment that was worth the charges. The food was good and sufficient for me.
There were a small number of things that could have been a little better. I had a major issue, however, with the shower. I am age 82, disabled in several ways, not the least of which is Arthritis of the spine, neck and ankles and, as there were no 'Grab Rails' for physical support and steadying myself making it dangerous for me should I have stepped into the bath to shower. The carpet on the stairs up to the rooms is somewhat heavily threadbare in places which leaves an impression of lack of care (I know that this is an expensive point but, feel it wise to be honest. Lastly, the Full English Breakfast was let down by the fact that the sausage was over cooked and the mushrooms appeared to have been cooked in to much oil/fat.

Excellent location in Port Sunlight. Ideal location for visiting Art Gallery, Museum, Gladstone Theatre and walking around heritage site. Staff friendly and welcoming. Food choices extensive, well prepared and reasonably priced. Well stocked bar Bedroom a little dated but clean, comfortable. Usual facilities hair drier, ironing board etc. Large car park
Generally Hotel requires refurbishing and redecorating/ updating inside and out, stair carpets worn and patched. General air of a little run- down. Does not detract from advantage of location

Very friendly and efficient staff. Simple but very comfy room (lovely bed) with all the facilities necessary. It's a bit quirky because its an Edwardian building (120 years oldish) with lots of the original features - lots of heavy, dark wood about and stained glass in every door. There was also a lovely smell of a coal fire in the lobby (not the bedrooms). Some of the corridor carpets might have been installed on new build! :-) The local area Port Sunlight - is great for an evening walk and architecturally very interesting. If you need a super new, anti septic hotel its not for you but if you want somewhere with character book it now.

The Room is lovely..and the place welcome pets..sorry but we only needed the room..we did not have food in this place. The staff were good enough to print me the map to go to Wirral because I ran out of data on my phone...Thank you very much for the very kind staff who were on duty on the 8 of the 8th..It is very highly appreciated.
I find it hard to operate the shower..i spend more time working the right temperature than having a shower so I just ran the bath instead which is not very much for my liking

I booked a family room for the two of us which was very spacious, we had dinner in the hotel which was as expected, and a full English breakfast the next day which was cooked just for us and we enjoyed, there wasn't much choice of continental breakfast, but to be fair I don't think they had many guests staying so didn't put much out. It was a pleasant walk around the village of Port Sunlight and along to the art gallery (with cafe beneath) with lots of historic buildings to see.
I was told the hotel was only partly open due to refurbishments, but the room we were in, even though comfy needed some updating.

Bed was very comfortable and bedding felt like good quality. We were in a small double room, but absolutely fine for overnight stay and plenty of wardrobe space. Bathroom was quite big and nice and bright. Staff were really helpful and friendly. We had lunch and a couple of pints in the pub which I'd recommend and the breakfast was excellent! Overall our stay was great value for the price.
Parts of the hotel accommodation was tired looking but our room seemed recently refurbished so guessing it's something that will happen in the future. It's a lovely building that just needs some TLC

Very surprised by this hotel, just booked something cheap for an overnight stay on the way to Wales. Not far from the motorway at all. With certain preconceptions of the area just expected something basic, functional and probably not that well situated. Not the case at all, it is a lovely mock Tudor building set in a leafy and obviously affluent area. Free parking, good start, staff friendly and efficient. The room was huge, clean and well appointed, quite grand really! The pub itself was buzzing with locals and had a great atmosphere, We ate there, just standard Greene King fair which is absolutely fine and reasonably priced. Breakfast was also completely adequate. Will use again if in the area for sure.

Friendly country pub charm in lovely surroundings. Excellent Flaming Grill food and drinks at unbeatable prices. The brilliant staff make it all worthwhile.
The stair carpets are badly worn and patched in places with gaffer tape. This is totally out of character with the rest of the hotel which is old but well preserved.

Staff were amazing, friendly and extremely helpful! The room was neat, clean and smelled nice. We ate dinner in the pub and it was really tasty, there were some vegan options (which we both are) so that worked well for us.
There were a couple of bugs on the windowsill and the shower was difficult to use with no instruction on how to swap from bath to shower. We ordered dessert at dinner but there was none of what we ordered in. Finally, we were able to access the hotel late at night but because we went to Liverpool, it was quite hard to get back to the hotel after the last train. (Not the hotel's fault, but worth knowing!)
