Brilliant hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautiful, very clean and comfortable. Great location - tube station a 5 minutes walk away, and covent garden etc is close by too. Will 100% be staying again. Don't think I will ever stop anywhere else again in London.

Very comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom. Very clean. Lots of towels. great location for major galleries, shops and restaurants. We had room only as lots of cafes around for breakfast. The hotel breakfast is in my opinion over priced at £28 pp. I had room service once and it was very good and the restaurant has a small menu but good quality food.
At check-in the hotel requests that you commit to an "optional" £10 per day service charge. We were happy to pay but the way its presented as soon as you check in after a long and tiring journey -it would sit better if this was asked at checkout and then you feel you are "tipping/paying" from a basis of experience rather than paying ahead which could be compromising. If you say you don't want to pay based on your experience that's slightly different and feels less pressurised. The check in staff put you in a position on arrival where it's difficult to say "no " or "we'll think about it ". Its all about timing......

I have not stayed in this exact location before. I have been a fan of hotels located in Mayfair or close to Harrods. I decided to have a change. No regrets. One reason is that arrived by train at Euston Station and the hotel is an easy 12-minute walk even with large suitcase. It is located in a street of typical Regency styled houses and is easy to miss because there is no large neon advertising sign in front of the hotel. This reflects the hotel. Effective and efficient service with a smile from room service to the bar. Bar was kept open for those late-night drinkers without any hint from the staff that it is time to go to bed. British museum and convent Garden are an easy 5 and 12 minute walk respectively. Tottenham court road is your nearest tube station. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs with food within 15 minutes of the hotel so there is no need to jump into a taxi. Bed was very comfortable with a turn down service in the evening. I was pleased that cups and saucers were provided together with a kettle so you could make coffee or tea for yourself. There was an area where could relax and read the paper. An inner courtyard reflected the location and added to the character of this particular hotel. A doorman was always on watch to help new arrivals with their luggage. I have stayed in a number of London Hotels over the years. I have now discovered a new one that I happy to place at the top of my list to stay at next time i visit London.
For once i cannot find any negatives about this hotel. Only negative is that the door insulation could be better. Ie the very large space under the door meant that corridor noise was easily heard in the room. I understand why the shower is over a large bath. Yes sometimes people do take bathes but i prefer the bath being taken out and being replace by a large shower space. My preference but if you have a baby the bath is a must.

Every member of staff that we met throughout our 3 night stay was extremely polite and helpful. The service could not be bettered which suggests that the staff is happy and management is successful. Our beautiful peaceful room was upgraded as it was my birthday and complimentary cakes were provided. There was plenty of space. The room service menu was of a high standard. The lounge features complimentary (and delicious) hot chocolate during winter evenings. The Montague is perfectly placed for theatre and shopping districts but on a quiet street. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. I was unfortunately ill throughout our trip but the hotel provided a calm place to rest. This is our second stay at the Montague and we will definitely be back.
Nothing, it was perfect.

This hotel exceeded expectations in every category. The decor is beautiful, the Staff are amazing, the bed and room extremely comfortable, and every small detail has been considered. We had a lovely welcome and birthday treat waiting in our room, and nothing was too much trouble. Considering everything it was great value for a great location in London. We liked adding Staff gratuities to the final bill instead of tipping especially as we don't carry cash anymore. We had a flying visit for one night but will return for more leisure time in the lovely welcoming atmosphere. Super job done by everyone thank you!
Our visit too short!

There is everything to like about the Montague on the Gardens. It is such a welcoming hotel with lovely, comfortable and clean rooms. The staff at this hotel are genuinely caring, helpful & friendly. The hotel is perfectly positioned in an area that makes it very easy to get around London, in walking distance to the theatre district, Covent Garden and many other areas with a convenient tube station close by. Love this hotel and highly recommend it!
There is nothing negative to say about this hotel.

My goodness what a gem this hotel is. I saved up for a Christmas trip to London and thought I’d treat myself to a nicer hotel than usual. I’ve been to several hotels across London but this was by far the warmest, cosiest, most welcoming. True elegance and the real meaning of hospitality. My room, the simplest in the building, is so beautifully decorated and had a tea-making tray, a robe and slippers and beautifully scented Floris body care (made me feel like a Princess) and the shared areas are so charming and gorgeous - I loved the paintings and the Christmas tree. It doesn’t feel like a hotel, it feels like a house. I think what makes this place special though is the staff. Franki checked me in and she was wonderful throughout my stay, Megan checked me out and she was kindness itself. Truly excellent front desk staff, so professional. The porters are a class of their own and the heart and soul of this place - always there to open a door, enquire about your day (and truly having a conversation with you as opposed to just politely listening, that’s care right there), help with transportation and with bags and frankly everything. I chatted with Levente as I was leaving telling him how hard it can be to be away from family (this was a solo trip) but this is the only hotel in London that’s made me feel at home. The breakfast team is absolutely incredible - always there to set up tea and chocolate stations, telling you to please please come to them if you’d like anything at any point. Everyone was just so incredibly attentive - especially the blonde younger lady who greeted us - and I thought the older gentleman in particular was just fantastic and very kind. Housekeeping is gorgeous, everything was spotless and they’re so incredibly attentive to your every need (there’s even a turndown service). I’ve never spent a more gorgeous stay. This is a home away from home which is amazing in bustling, busy London. Absolute gem, I tell you. I’m never going anywhere else.
Nothing whatsoever

The hotel is well-placed adjacent to the British Museum and close to the Russell Square tube station on the Piccadilly line. It's also within a moderate walk of "attractions" including Trafalgar Square and the London Eye if you prefer to discover London on foot. The staff are extremely attentive -- there are a lot of them! I counted 8 people helping to serve breakfast, and there is always someone there to open the front door for you. The common areas are beautifully decorated as appropriate for a heritage building and the restaurants on site were good. We enjoyed a glass of wine in the Leopard Bar and dinner in the adjacent conservatory overlooking the gardens. The bed was comfy and the room kept clean. We loved the pieces of fudge or other sweet on our pillow at night!
This is very small, but the lighting in the ensuite was very dim. Lighting was great elsewhere. Also, as might be expected, the tea at breakfast is far superior to the coffee!

Staff are very helpful, the room was small but very cosy with good facilities, the Bar area was very nice with live music, staff very helpful and efficient, we did not use the restaurant so cannot comment. In the morning staff were very helpful with everything, including getting a cab for our onward journey, will definitely be back
Small room , cosy for 1 night but could become claustrophobic if you stayed for a few nights, but I'm sure larger rooms are available at a higher rare. Breakfast was expensive at £30 a head, especially with additional supplements for example, eggs benidict was £10 extra so £40 for eggs Benidict...we used a local restaurant as £80 for 2 for breakfast seemed extravagant

The location is superb in a quiet street near the British museum. Walked past it first time ,it is discreet! Great Door Staff. Excellent Check In . Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our room on the ground floor was spacious as was the bed and bathroom. It was immaculately serviced by the Staff. I have serious back problems but the bed was very comfortable. Choice of coffee ,tea, water and biscuits was excellent. Fresh milk in a bottle was a nice touch. Door staff brilliant at getting taxis.
I was amazed how good it was and am unable to find fault with any one or thing.
