Friendly welcoming staff that made me feel at home. Also appreciate the flexibility of late check in and late check out, which is very important for me. The property is well maintained and clean, and a lovely place to stay at.

The continental breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices. You could also if you wanted go to the Lionshead inn for a Hot breakfast for £3 more i think if you have paid for your continental breakfast. The Lionshead is only a minute by car up the road. Our room was excellent as well with the only downfall being, there was no fridge in our room but you just needed to ask for milk at reception if you wanted some, so no big deal. I have to also mention the very friendly cheery Staff who were always there for you if you had a problem. . I would highly recommend staying here. P.S A great place to stay for walkers and hill climbers.

I liked everything about the place

Very reasonably priced (for peak holiday season) and a comfortable stay. A perfect spot for walkers who don't want to camp! We picked this site for the easy access to walks around Thirlmere, Raven Crag, the Vale of St John's, and further walks up to the Dodds / Raise and Helvellyn. Facilities were as expected for the 3 star standard, and the staff were welcoming - very pleased with the stay and would return to finish off the other hills! Cafe attached also has nice outdoor seating area for sunny days! Good public transport access from main road also

We got breakfast included, which was a continental - good selection but unfortunately not a full English. Cafe setting was slightly strange - no music or TV at the hotel. Cafe closed at 21:30, and if you wanted draft beers or drinks, it's a 3 min drive / 20 min walk to the nearest pub so felt slightly removed

Location was excellent, though next to a main road so there is traffic noise early in the morning. Staff were very lovely and welcoming. Room was clean but a little on the small side. Advertised as dog friendly but it was a squeeze with our little spaniel. Cafe on site was lovely and open til 9pm everyday. Ample parking and easy access to the hotel. Overall a lovely stay and would recommend to anyone.

Very hot upstairs - would recommend bringing a fan. Beds quite firm. Dog friendly property but not a lot of areas for your dog to toilet and not a lot of space in the rooms to put a dog bed in as they aren't allowed on the beds or soft furnishings understandably. Other rooms may be different and more suitable for dogs!

A great stay - Really friendly staff, I was upgraded to a slightly bigger room, which was cosy and comfortable. The location is great - Not too far to travel into town (Keswick, Ambleside, Grasmere all relatively nearby). Breakfast was fresh and tasty - I took breakfast most days at the sister hotel: the King's Head Inn, and it was delicious.

As lovely as breakfast was, I didn't like having to travel to another hotel to get a hot cooked breakfast. A continental breakfast included with the hotel stay was £12 a day, whereas a hot cooked breakfast was £15 a day and felt like a lot better value for money.

Clean, tidy, easy to get to, friendly staff. Tea/coffee and biscuits in room. Small but very good shower in bathroom. Only downside was lack of available food on site. Cafe style catering but no hot food. Nice pub 3 minutes away by car but food expensive. Rained a lot when we were there and was a bit noisy with rain hitting the roof.

Photo on Booking.Com shows hotel in a place at the back of an expanse of a grassy area and behind a stone wall. Reality is that it is just off a main road which is between the stone wall and the hotel, with a rocky hill behind it! A little misleading!

Arrived to be greeted and checked in, with both friendliness and efficiency. Loved the location and the property was simple yet comfortable and with attention to detail re guests needs. Seating area and Coffee Shop are a nice feature and the views all around superb. Would have perhaps stayed out to enjoy the environs more if there had not been a cold wind that evening. Slept well in an upgraded standard double, and in the morning enjoyed a good hot shower and a super continental spread for breakfast - choice of fruit juices and tea and coffee order taken and brought hot to the table, self service fruit and yoghurts, cereals, bread / toast and jams, croissant, cold meats, cheese, muffins, eggs. There is the option to upgrade to a cooked breakfast at the pub 2 minutes down the road - but continental was just what I wanted. I did make use of the pub on the evening I arrived. There was a menu to view at the accommodation and the reception staff rang across to check there would be a table - perfect and simple and delicious!

There was no down side - all as hoped and more!

The hotel went above and beyond for us. This was a surprise trip for my mums birthday and they decorated the room up with banners and balloons for her. She was over the moon with it. It was so lovely of the staff to do that for us, very, very kind. Everyone had an amazing time. Fantastic location, not far from Grasmere and there is a free car park at the rear of the hotel. Great continental breakfast in the morning, loads of choice and fresh tea/coffee. You can go to their sister hotel the Kings Head Inn for a cooked breakfast for just an extra £3. The pub is about a mile down the road from the hotel. We stopped there for an evening meal one night, the food was outstanding. And again the staff were lovely. They made a fuss of our springer spaniel who loved the free tasty dog treats! Hotel rooms were beautiful, very clean and the whole hotel was dog friendly. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday. The staff are an absolute credit to the hotel, genuinely lovely people.

Free parking was great as a lot of nearby places you have to pay for overnight parking. Self-controlled heating which worked fast and was very effective, our room was tropical in January!! Was perfect for drying off our wet kit and dry bodies. Staff are really friendly and welcoming with great service. Overall the whole room was clean and smelt great. Great location for getting to Helvellyn and other nearby walks. Didn't try the food, chose to drive into Keswick which is only 9 minutes away and off the main road near the museum there is free roadside parking after 6pm (might be more busy during summer months). The coffee shop onsite sells cakes, hot and cold drinks as well as alcohol options along with the partner pub a short walk down the road for food.

No option of a hot breakfast onsite however the sister site down the road offers it

The location was stunning, surpunded by a couple of close vicinity. Stunning scenery around, with lots of large hills and animals (mostly sheep), the staff were absolutely amazing, so friendly, and would help with every need. They are always available for emergancies 24hr however not always on site (live close by).

Unfortunately the lodge is very limited on food as there is no kitchen on site. This means that the food available is for the majority cold. With one or 2 paninis available. This being said there was alot of pastries and cakes available. They also advice you of their sister hotel (which i cant comment on, we didnt go), which has a kitchen and a cooked breakfast available when prebooked at the the lodge.
