It's lovely, so impressed. The staff are great, cheerful, and welcoming, good food, well made, and a small but perfectly formed bar. The rooms are comfortable, warm and beautifully designed spaces, we stayed in The Cruise, furnished with rather expensive yachting inspired furniture designs. The bath is the deepest one I've ever seen, and the shower, once I found out how to turn it on, was fantastic.

Just two minor things. Would have liked a darker room, but the curtains allow rather a lot of light. Blackout blinds or similar would be more my preference. And the shower curtain rail could use replacing, it's a bit corroded.

Great little boutique hotel in a great location with nearby parking. Under new management when we stayed who were really welcoming. All staff were really friendly too, nothing too much trouble. We stayed in the cruise room which was a welcome change to the Bland rooms you often get at mainstream establishments.

The bed felt a little tired, had to request a hairdryer at reception. No room make up. The lack of room make up was explained that we hadn't displayed the " please make up room " card but there wasn't one in the room. All above very minor issues though. Slightly over priced in my view but would consider again if we were in Durham itself.

The location of the hotel was great for exploring the old city and the staff were fantastically helpful. Well stocked bar. The owner is relatively new and appears to have great ambition to develop the the hotel and restaurant - so I suspect it will only get beter. Couldn't have asked for more from him. All rooms are individual and no doubt some are better than others.

Our room was at the front of the old townhouse and looked over the road. That (and celebrating students) did make it a bit noisy at night. Other rooms at the back of the hotel will have been quieter.

The staff June, Becca & chef Caesar were excellent. We had problems with the hot tub not being hot enough & June went out of her way to sort things out for us, cannot praise her enough. Would love to stay here again 🙂

Hot tub didn’t reach proper temperature until the last morning of our stay. Though June sorted us a temporary alternative, would be better if the owner got it checked out.

The Townhouse is a quirky but stylish boutique hotel within 10 (easy walking) minutes of the cathedral, but well away from the noise and student bustle of the very centre of Durham. The rooms are all individually decorated, and very comfortable. The reception staff are outstanding. Wendy, Ann(e) & Ryan are friendly and helpful at every opportunity and it is because of them that we will be returning again and again whilst our son is in Durham. Thank you so much to the three of you for a fantastic stay. Easy parking outside the hotel on a meter with "pay by phone" app.

We liked everything. The only thing which could make it better is a Nespresso machine & fresh milk...but we're being picky here!

Staff very welcoming and friendly in particular Wendy. The room was really cosy. The bed was very comfortable and the feature bath (Azzurri room) was great. The bar was really good with Wendy showing her bar tending skills.

Some small maintenace tasks (reported) needed to be fixed. Shower was very hot and could not be cooled and the fan in the shower room was not working.

The room was amazing the hotel was lovely staff so helpful went for my partners birthday and my partner surprised me byasking me to marry him here the staff helped Pond with the surprise it was lovely night all round wr had the azzuri room 4 poster bed bath at end of it beautiful room

We were dissatisfied by the fact the room there was no towels to use yet a shower and free standing bath @173 pound it would been nice to have use of them

Hotel stay was lovely, great location a very nice boutique hotel. Breakfast was also delicious, we had a lovely stay thank you 🙂

Some switches in the bedroom didn’t work, mainly lights around the bath, and one of the chairs sunken in when sat on, we took bubble bath with us for the big tub but this would a nice touch if added for those who may forget.

Lovely Georgian building ideally situated in the city, quiet street but short walk across the bridge to shops, bars and cafes We recieved a friendly welcome upon arrival from lady on reception and were given the keys to our room in the Bjoux loft room. Albeit on the small side, (clue is in the name loft), it was perfect for a short stay as a couple. The room features a comfortable Queen size bed, wardrobe, kettle, electric fan and a modern en suite with walk in shower. Rooms are tastefully decorated and very clean and also had air con which we were grateful for given the balmy summer evening it was when we stayed! There are two sash windows (cannot open but didnt need to) with nice views of Durham cathedral in the distance which overlooks the city There is a cute little bar next to the reception where we had a drink in the afternoon, and to the rear of the property there is a restaurant and small beer garden though we didnt use it during our stay.

There isnt anything we can think of at all. We were impressed and satisfied with our short stay here and would recommend to others

The property is so quirky! The outside doesn’t do it much justice, whilst plain outside, it really does open your eyes when you walk in. Mix of modern and vintage. The Bijoux Loft was lovely, very low ceilings! So mind your head and no overly tall people. Really welcoming staff and very homely. A great stay!

Wasn’t a fan of the window into the bathroom. The curtain wasn’t long enough to cover it so going to the toilet felt slightly ‘on display’.
