Liked the breakfast, good variation of food
Would have like our own teapot or coffee pot at breakfast rather than being served by the staff.

The breakfast was great, as were the staff. The restaurant staff and bar staff in the evening were also very courteous. The bedroom, despite being outside of the main building was very nice.
I visited reception twice, on arrival, and waited 5 minutes to be seen as the receptionist was making a personal call in the back, which could be heard. Not a great start. Also went to speak to get a restaurant reservation for the evening, only to be greeted by the top of her head as she was on her phone again. I literally had to say 'hi' to get her attention. as a first impression of the hotel, she doesn't really look like she want's to be there.

Exceptional building with character. Reception staff more than helpful and because of her wonderful attitude, we will use the premises again re business visits. Breakfast, whilst buffet layout was good, hot and high quality. More than enough choices of cereal and pastries.
Room allocated was out in old converted block, away from main house. Room on 2nd floor, within roof space was adequate but compact. Colleagues room, 1st floor twice the size. Suggest make sure you're not on 2nd floor. En-suite well appointed but tiny corner shower cubicle for 6'4" bloke a bit of a stretch and difficult to use. Biggest downer was WIFi signal. Very poor. Unable to complete work needed to do via emails. Mobile phone signal dropping out frequently. It is within old stone walls so can expect some disruption to signal, but worst we have had on our travels. Mentioned next morning at checkout and was told could have been given access to staff system, if we'd asked! Remember to ask!

The main building was exceptional, even better than the appearance on the website, and internally it is superb, a fine building updated to a very high standard. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable, particularly in the breakfast dining area. The bedroom in the annexe was big enough and comfortable. The two Indian weddings taking place while we were there did not generally affect our enjoyment of our stay.
(Not a criticism of the hotel itself ...) We were very annoyingly woken at 3.45 in the morning by the adjacent room (or possibly above) occupants making a tremendous noise, as loud as the occasional plane taking off from the airport, and the disturbance went on the over 45 minutes, such that we were wide awake and consequently tired in the morning. Even banging on the wall did not have any effect. Whether the noise was a faulty shower or something else we do not know but it spoilt our stay.

Nice castle hotel where we had a family room and a double room next to each other on the top floor. The rooms are cozy authentic and have very good beds ! The extra bed is a full bed which was very welcome for our youngest son. Staff is more than correct. We did not know if we were going to be back in time for kitchen closing time in the evening after our Aston Villa match and were allowed to give our choices in advance so everything was ready when we returned. Breakfast is well arranged and has everything needed. Highly recommended if you are in the area or like us going to a soccer match at Aston Villa, with a short Uber ride ideal !

The property was absolutely jaw dropping GORGEOUS. It was in such a peaceful area & a gorgeous garden to walk around in, if you don’t want to go anywhere. Very clean. Daniel made us very welcome, such a friendly gentleman. I felt like I’d know him for years. The beds (we had single beds) were ever so comfortable. The food was amazing apart from the temperature of them.
I can’t fault anything. Temperature of our food wasn’t that hot. Young members of staff need to know the menu & what comes with that meal. Unless restaurant training has changed since I did my training.

Everything about the stay was excellent. The room was stunning, well looked after and the best family room we have ever had. The staff were friendly, attentive and went above and beyond. The gentleman at breakfast had set us a table up ready, and really kindly showed us some of the amazing rooms in the hotel near to breakfast we were fascinated and he had so much passion for his work. And the lady who served us, also showed us Queen Mary’s room and others which again was fascinating and we were so grateful. We stumbled on the hotel when looking for nearby accommodation for a family party, and we enjoyed it so much we have already looked for a reason to stay again which we most certainly will. I quite simply couldn’t recommend this hotel and everything that comes with it enough, thank you!
Nothing.

Check and and out were both very quick and efficient. The staff team were all great. Really approachable and responsive to any requests we had as wedding guests. More chairs, no problem, make room for other guests, no problem, don't like the wine, no problem, here, have the one you like!..etc. The staff helped make our families special day memorable for the right reasons. The grade 1 listed imposing building is beautiful, look up at the decorative ceilings! Wooden paneling, original styled windows and large ornate fireplaces, together with well considered furnishings, gave it a grand and somewhat ostentatious feel. The grounds, although in winter season, were still a joy to walk around. Our room was a good size, it was very clean, the beds were comfy. The bathroom has both bath and shower cubicle. There were thick, white fluffy towels and some toiletries for personal use. The room was pretty quiet, apart from a few guests settling down for the night. I noticed out of the window there were charging points for electric vehicles, and a few car parks. Breakfast was buffet style, and the hot breakfast was cooked well. There were cereals, yoghurt, toast, and pastries as well. A choice of tea or coffee and fruit juices to drink. All in all a great stay, I'd recommend it to any one looking to stay in the area.
Some minor niggles, we were almost late as the post code took us to a cul- de-sac luckily I spotted the brown signs for the gardens and we followed that. The bed was comfy, but the pillows were a bit lumpy. The curtains didn't quite meet in the middle, so they let light in.

We stayed 2 nights to attend an event at the NEC. We stayed in the Devereux Suite (pretty sure this was an upgrade as we had paid for a superior room via Booking.Com). The suite was very large and impressive with a large and comfortable bed and I have never stayed in a place with such a huge bathroom. Breakfast was very good. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building with really lovely original features but in need of some restoration. Excellent location to the NEC - a few miles drive.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again. Value for money was exceptional- we only paid £100 each night to stay in the lovely suite, with breakfast. However, it must cost a fortune to heat and upkeep this beautiful building and grounds and there is work that needs doing to both. This would make it a luxury hotel but then you would be paying a lot more. I’m not sure this would be money well spent because you are in a bit of a residential area and the airport and motorway do impact on the ambience. So, all things being equal, a lovely and very well priced stay for us!! Thank you!!
