Older well cared for property, with many character features. Owner (Sinclair) and his staff could not have done more to made me feel welcomed. Proximity to Ayr University Hospital to visit my brother, 5-7 mins by car. Perfect. Top Floor Room was quite small but well presented, with en-suite and very comfortable bed. Lying in bed at night sipping Hot chocolate and Star gazing through the Velux roof window will stay with me for ever. Slept well, and Breakfast a varied and well thought out selection with fruit to go. A veritable feast !
Slight issue with on-street parking, not a major thing. Otherwise everything suited my needs to a tee. Wasn't there long enough to enjoy the Parlour with books, a selection of music (inc. Madeleine Peyroux which was playing on arrival) or listening to the baby grand being played.

Realising that we’re being more and more priced out of our usual budget hotels on recent a trip to Ayr we decided take the chance and book a “normal” type B&B, I’m so glad we did. This guest house is excellent, from the moment we walked into the warm, tastefully decorated entrance with its deep pile carpets and warm ambience we were greeted by the proprietor, a man who obviously takes great pride in himself, his work and his guesthouse. Our room was on the first floor, again tastefully furnished with period furniture, there was a filter coffee, fresh milk, cookies and the usual teas and coffees, although only staying 2 nights the room was fully serviced, bed made, towels changed and used milk replaced. I’m not a fussy eater but the £9 breakfast was excellent, obviously all fresh and good quality, we were meeting up with friends so declined breakfast but I wish I’d brought them back to the “Lochinver” to to experience the difference a bit of pride can make.. There’s a very warm, comfortable guest sitting room, free parking at the door and a short walk into the Main Street.

Lochinver is a beautiful Victorian property with wonderful period features. A lovely drawing room was available to guests. You could sit in comfort and read or play board games. We stayed in the immaculate Kennedy room - very comfortable bed dressed in white, fine cotton. In addition to the usual teas etc a cafetiere was provided ( for ground coffee). Fresh milk was provided each day (if required) and there were some tasty biscuits. Breakfast was extensive and varied, catering for all, with vegan and gluten free options readily available. The weather was grim during our stay and a couple of times we availed ourselves of the "Ayshire Ashet" - a huge platter of gorgeous cheeses, cold cuts, olives, pickles etc. and a basket of breads and crackers. This was a fabulous supper on a miserable wet day ( together with a bottle of wine). Sinclair was a wonderful host - knowledgeable about the area and places to visit. Don't miss out on visiting Culzean Castle and estate. Stunning! Sinclair was 'spot on' with his recommendations for restaurants. The Strathvaig and The Fox and Willow offered great food. These are very popular and it is best to book. The guest house is so close to the town centre ( 10 minutes easy walking) and there are loads of eateries, pubs and cafes to choose from.
Nothing major. Perhaps a few more sockets in the bedroom to cope with all our devices - laptops, chargers etc.

This is one of the most perfect bed and breakfasts I have ever stayed at. They very kindly upgraded me to a room with an en-suite because they had one spare. There was everything possible in the room that you could think of. Tea strainer and loose leaf tea as well as teabags. Fresh milk in a very fancy bottle that would keep it very fresh, plenty of fresh water, a china tea cup, saucer and plate. They allowed me to drop off my bag even when no one was there. The breakfast was perfectly cooked. The buffet table was so full of jars well labelled of every cereal imaginable, several kinds of jams and marmalade all in dishes, butter in a butter dish beautifully carved in the shape of the St Andrews Cross, plenty of fruit and yoghurts to choose from, beautifully clean, lovely comfortable bed. Even charming chiming clocks added to atmosphere of this super guest house
I could not find anything that could have been improved

Guest house has a fabulous location right in the heart of town but set away from the hustle and bustle, the room and guesthouse were immaculate and the staff / proprietor couldn’t be any more friendly, approachable and helpfull. Breakfast was brilliant food cooked freshly to order and a choice of everything from a cold breakfast buffet as well, staff at breakfast were great. Would happily recommend to friend’s & family.
Can’t fault the guesthouse in any way.

My stay in Ayr was originally unplanned, but due to a missed bus connection, I required lodging for the night; Lochinver and its staff were exceptionally welcoming despite my last-minute booking, offering a lovely breakfast the following morning, and the room itself was gorgeous and incredibly comfortable. Lovely music and decor around the lobby area as well!
There was nothing at all that I disliked; everything at Lochinver was above and beyond my expectations as a last-minute booker. I had a wonderful unexpected night in Ayr thanks to the guesthouse, and hope to come back in the future!

The location of the house is perfect and the interior is gorgeous too. The owners were lovely and breakfast was one of the best we've had whilst travelling .
I felt that a 3pm check in was late considering check out was 10:30. We travel a lot visiting places in the UK(you can request earlier but it's £10).This hotel although lovely was one of the most expensive for one night and we spent the least amount of time in the room. Generally, check in is at 2pm and check out 11 everywhere else. Breakfast is often on till 10-10:30 everywhere else as well and here 08:30-09:30. This is ok mid week I guess but I'm sure we're not the only ones who want a couple of drinks Saturday night and would really like a lie in on a Sunday morning.if you're an early riser then it's perfect!

Spacious, clean and exceptional attention to detail. Lovely home baked biscuits in the room, bedding and linens of high quality and I enjoyed the bathrobe. Breakfast was fantastic- home baked banana bread, good choice of cereals, yogurt and fruit. The full Scottish breakfast was excellent. Sinclair is a friendly, welcoming host who made us feel at home. We also enjoyed the restaurant- The Stravaig - that Sinclair recommended to us for dinner. It was a 5 minute walk around the corner.

Room and amenities were comfortable and well thought out. Felt welcomed and appreciated. Lots of helpful information provided at check in, including recommendations for places to eat within a short walk. Breakfast selection was varied and tasty. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Nothing. We were on the top floor so not sure how loud our footfalls may be on the floor below, but they seemed loud to us, but it’s an older structure so to be expected.

This is a gem of a place. Lovely room, a nice guest lounge with a variety of books and games, a piano for those who can play. The breakfast was brilliant, the service was very good, I was made to feel very welcome. I would recommend this B&B to anyone thinking of going to Ayr. It is near the centre, it is also near the lovely seafront, a short walk takes you there, where the views of Arran are fabulous.
