The location of the Burnside Guest House is excellent, being both close to the town centre and the beach. There is parking outside, with a free permit being given to me by the owner. The check in is flexible, and the host, Paul, is friendly. The property is well kept and is very clean. I had a family room with a separate bathroom. This wan't an issue, as the bathroom was solely for my personal use and was next door to my room. Both the bathroom and the bedroom were light and airy and are welcoming spaces. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept well. There is a fridge in the room, which was handy. There is a good choice of breakfast, and I would highly recommend the cooked breakfast, which was very tasty.

The location of The Burnside is absolutely superb as it is just a very short walk away from the bus station, the centre of Ayr with all of its shops and varied eating places and also the esplanade. Queens Terrace is a lovely residential area which is full of mainly older very attractive terraced properties. There are also lots of well kept green spaces nearby along with the extensive and lovely esplanade. There are a great number of good restaurants in Ayr and these are also within easy walking distance of Paul's lovely guesthouse. The Burnside is a period Victorian property with lots of charm and character. Our room was on the first floor and it was huge - a family room with a superking sized bed and also a single bed. It has a sitting area at the large bay window and is very fresh, clean and comfortable. We slept well as the bed was comfy and the street is very quiet. Paul's breakfasts are very good, tasty and generous and he is a friendly, interesting and helpful host who gave us lots of invaluable advice on the best places to visit during our stay. A most enjoyable wee break in Ayr. HIghly recommend. Thank you Paul!
Everything was great and there was nothing that disappointed us. All good.

Paul was very welcoming when we arrived. Our room was at the back of the ground floor next to the Dining room. The room was comfortable with a window seat and small table and chair. We had plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe and a couple of small drawers each. The bed was comfortable and the room was nice and warm. Fan provided too. Shower room. Was well fitted with a great shower and lovely free toiletries. The only thing we didn't like was that it wasn't unsuited but next door to our room, off the corridor. I hadn't realised this until we arrived and it was entirely my fault for not reading the booking details properly as its clearly stated on Booking.com that it's a separate own use bathroom. Nevertheless we had a great stay and would definitely recommend and stay there again, but probably in an unsuited room next time!
Our bathroom wasn't ensuite

Lovely! The room was gorgeous, had everything you could possibly want, spacious, clean and with little luxurious elements in the room and bathroom. Amazing shower. Comfy bed. I loved that the host didn't interrogate me, he just said hello and gave me my room keys (I prefer this as a young woman traveling solo)!! Interesting information in their brochure too about local places to visit. Also, the guest house is right next to the beach!! All in all, fabulous stay, but out of my price range for a proper extended holiday. If you've got the budget, it's worth the spend.
Nothing! I found my stay to be great.

The location was perfect. I was there for the Ayr Races and it was a short taxi ride away. I arrived by train and I was able to walk from the station which took about 20 minutes, through the centre of town. Close to the nightlife and felt safe walking home alone. I arrived before check in and although my room wasn’t ready they let me quickly get changed. The owner was lovely and so was the housekeeping lady. The room was lovely and clean and the bed was really comfy. Towels and toiletries provided along with a kettle and tea and coffee, oh and some nice biscuits too. I didn’t stay for breakfast which was included as I needed to catch an early train but it did smell lovely as a left. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you
Nothing. It was lovely

Big spacious room and very clean. Bathroom good size and lots of toiletries and very clean. Breakfast was exceptionally good!! Very well situated and only 2 min walk to beachfront.
My fault entirely I didn’t check that family room wasn’t en-suite. Although bathroom is huge and sits right next door to room. Also to let older people know that family room is up 2 flights of stairs at top of house. Double bed too firm for us but that’s a personal choice. Could perhaps have blackout curtains? As very bright room.

Lovely, well kept and well appointed, very peaceful and quiet. It was easy walking to promenade on one side and in town on other both within 5 minutes walk. Owner was very pleasant and knowledgeable about area and facilities.we stayed on ground floor and would have no hesitation coming back with family members who have reduced mobility. Breakfast choices were extensive and excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Not a problem for us as we took bus from Glasgow (station is within walking distance), but parking could be difficult as it is a residential area , so some planning may be required if driving, but don't let that spoil the chance of a great stay.

The host Paul was so warm and welcoming and after we checked out my partner left something in the room and he was more than happy to give him the key back to let him back into the room to get it and the room was great big comfortable bed the best sleep my partner and I had definitely would recommend even though there is no car park you get a permit off Paul to park up on the street can’t wait to book again
The stair’s leading up to our room as we were on the top floor but managed it

The location was fabulous. I couldn’t fault the cleanliness, or how quiet and comfortable the room was. The breakfast was brilliant and plenty of it. Paul was very friendly.
It wasn’t overly clear that to get the bathroom you had to walk out of bedroom into the downstairs hallway. Paul did provide a dressing gown which was very much appreciated. It may have been my misunderstanding of the room description.
