Internet and cable are more than adequate. Breakfast is very good and dinners are beyond excellent. The views are spectacular if you like pasture land and sheep. The staff don't stop working to please and seem to have been trained in customer care. There are no "gift" hires, every member of staff knows their job and how to speak kindly and respectfully to a customer. There's a lovely variety of species planted on the grounds and the groom deserves credit for keeping the unique setting so nice. There is access to "All Creatures" (original series) filming locations in the area. The hotel itself is in an excellent state of repair. All of the above easily justify the room charges.
There is nothing that's a part of the hotel operation that we disapproved of. I did not see an elevator and none was pointed out to me so I'm assuming that there is none-not a problem for me but might be for others. It's through no fault of the SH staff that on the day of our arrival a failed train caused us to miss our connections beyond the taxi's ability to pick up at Garsdale station. Additionally, The Little White Bus failed to honor a confirmed reservation for our Saturday morning departure. All of that to say that if you're depending upon others for transport be sure to book in advance and if you use the Little White Bus, remind them frequently of their committment to you.

A fantastic Spring break at the Stonehouse Hotel. The staff were unfailingly welcoming and cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was exceptional, home cooked and good value for money. Our room was quite small but not unexpected as it is described as a Cozy King, however this didn't detract at all from our enjoyment. The Lounge and Bar areas were very comfortable and welcoming. Kept toasty with real fires so just like at home we really only slept in our room.

Well-placed well run hotel. Breakfast is waitress served very promptly, with good variety and local food. The dinner menu is a few options but wide enough for good choice and very tasty. Original artwork of the Dales in the restaurant, which is multi-roomed including a glass extension. Loved the conservatory views of spring lambs gambolling in the fields from our bedroom. There's a heater if you need it. There are great footpaths and views all around the location. I would recommend.
The conservatories join on to each other with frosted glass so you do have an awareness if your neighbours are in their conservatory at the same time. This didn't bother us as no-one is in them all the time, and wouldn't put me off booking again.

This hotel is a 20 carat gem. The most beautiful and practical please I have ever stayed. We are in the dog friendly rooms that includes a conservatory. What a pleasure to be able to open the door whilst in a very classy hotel to let your dog out for a quick wee! A dog friendly blanket was also provided and welcome in all public rooms except the dining room. We popped him in the car whilst we had breakfast and dinner as he settles well in the car. All staff so friendly, cannot so enough for you and there is nothing snooty about this hotel at all! Fresh milk in a small fridge outside the rooms for tea and coffee. The best brands of tea/coffee available in the room. The food, well, this is on another level. The most tastiest yogurt ever, plus the full breakfast a must. We ate dinner and enquired if we could be served our cheese and biscuits in the bar so we could be reunited with our dog, due to the bar not being over busy at that time. We enjoyed the cheese board with a fresh cup of coffee whilst Louie the dog lay in his blanket provided in front of the open fire, what more could you ask for. Brilliant location to walk across the fields into Hawes using the stone pathway constructed when the stone mines were active. On Friday night we went on a guided night walk with the very knowledgeable Mark. Top “marks” to Mark for making his a special night. Packed lunch provided by the hotel plus a welcome flask of fresh coffee. I had the most enjoyable sandwich of smoke salmon that I have ever tasted, more enjoyable as we made the butty stop in the stone mines! No apologies for the long review as I cannot credit this hotel enough for being a beautiful place to stay with husband and doggy where nothing is too much trouble, with the most friendly attentive staff, beautiful food and wonderful dog friendly rooms. Plus no charge for dogs if the are well behaved and sociable like our little cocker spaniel.
There is nothing to dislike!

A charming, beautifully presented hotel, especially with the gorgeous Christmas decorations. Our room was in the coach house on the ground floor, it was huge, super comfy bed, with a sofa , and stunning view across dales. The bathroom was also very spacious, everywhere was spotlessly clean. The dinner was delicious set in a gorgeous dining room with fairly lights, so pretty. All the staff were so helpful and friendly, our whole stay was outstanding, I can’t think of one negative point. Will definitely be back, we couldn’t recommend this hotel more highly, get value for money.
Nothing our stay was most enjoyable

Breakfast had a really good selection of options, the staff were very attentive and friendly - a theme throughout the hotel. The room was very comfortable and the cleanliness was first class.
Not a criticism in any way but the weather was extremely (unseasonally) warm. A small fridge would have been useful - I guess a lot of people will visit the Wensleydale Creamery and buy their products but cheese needs cool storage; maybe a collaboration/sponsorship arrangement to help with the costs???

the hotel was lovely, full of character and very christmassy. The staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient. Food was very nice and the breakfast was one of the best we have had. We had a standard room which was very nice, adequate for 2 night stay.
Our only complaint was the bar, only one draft beer and one draft lagar which was a local lagar and not my palette. There was a lovely pub up the road about 1.5 mile so we we ended up there both days after our walk bur if the hotel had had decent draught we would have drank there.

Lovely hotel..whilst we booked a "small double' it was a good sized room with double bed and enough room for 2 armchairs in front of the TV. Nice bar area and delicious food (both dinner and breakfast) in the restaurant. Sadly the weather was awful during our one night stay but when the mizzle cleared in the morning there is a great view down onto Hawes in the valley below and I imagine it would be great to sit out on the front lawn with a cold drink on a sunny day ! We've already rebooked.
Only two small minor gripes : 1. Breakfast finishes early so not much scope for a nice lie-in. Latest available was 9.15am for us and overheard a later conversation at reception where someone was offered 8.45am as latest available slot. 2. No milk/creamer in the room so had to have black coffee on waking up.

Can't remember the last time we had such great 'table service', and got exactly what we asked for, and the food was superb, served with a smile and enough chat to be friendly and not intrusive. The views were amazing and soothing, plenty of sheep, which we are used to, but not used to seeing rabbits under my window being busy in an out of the bushes.
If it were my place, I would ditch the small mat in front of the fire unless a fire was going and definitely have the edges overlocked, but that's my personal preference.

Exceptional! Everything from the room to staff was amazing. It was my partners birthday and they looked after us so well- very friendly and tentative staff! The room was done to such a high standard- extremely comfortable bed! The food was excellent, a very wide rage of options that change every night .It’s in an idyllic location and couldn’t recommend more - amazing value for money- will definitely be staying again!
