We stayed at Hanamuro Inn for two nights and absolutely loved it. The inn is simple, clean, and full of charm. Just like the island itself. The owner is warm and welcoming, and the whole place had a laid-back, friendly vibe that made us feel right at home. Aka Island is small, quiet, and stunningly beautiful. You’re surrounded by turquoise water, white sand beaches, and a peaceful atmosphere that’s hard to find elsewhere. Around the inn, there are a few small restaurants and two little supermarkets. It is just enough to enjoy good local food without any stress. If you’re looking to unwind, swim, snorkel, or just take in the natural beauty, Hanamuro Inn is a perfect place to stay. We would absolutely come back. A lovely spot on a lovely little island.

I’m going to agree with all the other reviews. This place is a little gem on a tiny island at the end of Japan. The whole hamlet has a very relaxed feel with amazing beaches all around. Rent bikes and choose between perfect sunbaking, swimming with turtles or just cruising up and down the reef. Or walk up to one of the lookouts. The guesthouse has 5 simple rooms around a courtyard with outdoor baths where you can relax and meet other guests. The food is fantastic and a huge add - breakfast and dinner are delicious and the staff are just so happy and smiley and helpful and lovely. We almost let the shared bathroom put us off but really it’s not an issue. There are so few rooms they are never being used and are right there next to the room and super clean. Overall we highly recommend this place. It is a rare find that we will always remember.

Like everyone else says, the pillows are like super firm marshmallows. That’s all. Everything else is perfect.

Fantastic place on Aka island! Yes, the room was very basic, just a bed and A/C (shower/bathrooms outside), but the whole place is just cozy and comfortable, there is a shared fridge as well. A nice wooden-area patio was simply brilliant to have a breakfast/dinner. A shop is nearby, one beach is just 5 minutes walk. 2 main beaches are 10 and 20 minutes walk, not a problem at all. The hosts are simply brilliant, very friendly and helpful. Overall: a very good place, I highly recommend it, and if I come back to Aka, I would select this nice homely place again :)

This is one of my favourite places to stay in all my worldwide travels. Apart from Aka island being the cutest and calmest island with the best snorkeling, this hotel always makes the trip. The owners of this property are so nice and always willing to help you with anything. The rooms have everything you need and the bathrooms are always clean. There is a communal kitchen with a kettle, fridge and microwave you can use if you don’t feel like eating out. The outdoor space is the absolute highlight though. It has tables and chairs and two outdoor bathtubs, perfect to relax in after a day at the beach. They also rent out snorkeling gear and push bikes to make your stay incredibly easy. They gave us a map of all the beaches with local knowledge on the best snorkeling too. I first stayed here by myself and made sure I brought friends with me the next trip. They all said out of all the places we stayed on the trip that this was their favourite. Thank you for such a wonderful stay again, I will definitely be back.

The staff were excellent. They were very helpful and friendly. We were able to rent snorkelling equipment from them for a small fee and they provided a helpful online guide to the area. The beds were comfortable and there was space outside to hang our clothes

I didn’t expect the showers and toilets to be separate from the room. It was fine but a little awkward if people were sat outside

Staff were excellent. Home cooked meals were very tasty and cooked individually at a time of your choosing. They have bike rentals. It’s just a few minutes walk from the docks. Rooms were clean. I checked out at 10 but my boat wasn’t leaving until 4pm, the owner said I can go out all day, leave my luggage and come back to use the showers. This allowed me to really enjoy my final day there and visit three more beaches. Thank you!

Slightly expensive for the room alone (but with the meals included it’s worth it)

I usually don’t review places but after staying here I really felt the need to. My partner and I had the most amazing time here. The owners were so kind and helpful, the breakfast and dinners exceeded our expectations, our rooms were small but comfortable and more than adequate, shared bathrooms were super clean, the outdoor area was such a great spot for drinks and reading and chats, and you could hire snorkels and the owner even had a couple of beers you could buy from him because beers are scarce on the island. Apart from this the location is perfect and aka island is also such a beautiful place. We only stayed two nights but for sure could’ve stayed for at least a week.

It’s only a 3-5min walk from the port as well as the beach. The common toilets and showers are kept very clean. They also rent out snorkelling gear at a discounted price.

Unfortunately, it was raining most of the time while we were there so we didn’t get to use the patio/hot tubs at all. There was also no breakfast provided and most shops are closed during heavy rain. We had to get buns from the local mart.

This place is awesome. Staff are friendly, organised and genuinely interested in making your holiday enjoyable. Food was great, place was clean, and plenty of snorkeling equipment and bikes available to hire for cheap. A perfect Japanese experience, thank you!!! Aka Island is a lot better if you prefer a less touristy option with quieter beaches.

A very warm and welcoming atmosphere! All of the travelers’ needs have been thought of, even including a small selection of vegan and non vegan frozen meals in the community freezer. The owner is so sweet and the mornings and evenings on the patio are dreamy :)

I have no complaints, I wish I had stayed longer!!
