Staff excellent. We arrived very late and the kitchen was closed but Richard behind the bar kept the bar open for us whilst we went to get a takeaway. When we returned we ate our food with a few pints despite it most likely making him late off work. The following day we had breakfast via the owner and chef, both couldn’t be more helpful, kind and approachable. Breakfast was generous and filled us up for the day. Rooms did the job. Bed fine, shower was hot, minor issues with a leaking shower onto the floor and wobbly toilet but for the price I was never expecting the Ritz. We used it solely just to crash the evening before climbing Scaffel.
Nothing of significance or that the staff could affect. It did the job for the price we paid.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly, quite chatty and genuinely seemed to want to make our stay enjoyable. We were offered a free breakfast every morning, the chef was more than happy to cook any typical breakfast, as well as providing a cold buffet (cereal, toast, yoghurt etc). Location was great... Just a short distance from the two places we went to while we stayed (Scaffel Pike for a trek and Ravenglass to enjoy some steam trains!)
The floor in our bathroom had some loose tiles

Super cosy and clean rooms, staff were EXCEPTIONAL. Lovely good quality breakfast - staff so accommodating to cook whatever you wish. Loads of recommendations for our planned hikes, real friendly, warm and family-like environment. Staff allowed us to check out late so we could have a kip after our sunrise hike, got a takeaway one night and staff assisted with crockery, just everything about this place was fantastic. Could recommend enough.
Nothing to improve on.

Outstanding! Thank you very much. Friendly, welcoming and helpful from arrival till departure. Prepared a plentiful breakfast for us early before trip to Scafell Pike, did so again for youngsters who got up late too. Lovely pub / inn with great rooms. WiFi and TV worked, microwave also provided in rooms. Dinners were excellent. Fantastic beer garden, great for kids. We are extremely grateful, 10/10. Thank you very much, we will definitely stay again.
If you are without a car, it means walking on the road. But that's not the inn's fault, just something to know.

Rooms were really nice and clean, staff were amazing very helpful and very friendly, nice cosy bar/restaurant area, nice big open beer garden where we enjoyed a few drinks in the sun and the food was superb.
The only issue I had with it was a minor one. On the website it said the bar opened at 12 but didn't state that it closed between 3 and 5 so we turned up just after 4 to have a few drinks in the beer garden to find the bar was closed. The chef was kind enough to serve us a drink each around half 4 once we had checked in and taken our stuff to our room.

Really nice pub close to the village great parking ! I had a really nice stay nice to be able to find somewhere down to earth nice couple running this pub / hotel rooms are nice and clean spacious and the beds are comfy slept really well nice powerful warm shower too !! I would definitely return there is so much I could say as we enjoyed our food can tell owners are putting effort in with what spare time they have as new paint was being put on the bar and doors lovely the best thing is the rooms are not a rip of and are great value for money I know the cost of living is expensive and running a business is by no means cheap or easy but it’s nice not to be paying over the odds for a hotel room and was great keep up the great work was a awesome find !! Great dog friendly place to stay
Just a recommendation ! Perhaps give the car park a tidy up and around the back stair case and put the WiFi codes in the rooms but this is constructive criticism and nothing that effected my stay do not be put of staying here it’s a lovely quite place to stay with friendly staff and close by amenities and beach awesome thank you !!

From the moment we parked the car everyone was so welcoming and friendly. There was great fun between staff and guests and nothing was too much of an ask. There is a gorgeous outdoor area with picnic benches, an amazing selection of food (the chef was amazing all weekend) and drinks. The location is amazing and there is amble parking. Can't wait to return.
Nothing, everything was perfect!

It was easy to find and access, the staff were absolutely lovely, when we came downstairs for some food, we spent ages chatting with them & putting the world to rights. The food was delicious, locals were friendly and the room was so comfortable!
The room was really warm and we couldn’t open the window BUT that was a minor issue. Getting the right hot/cold balance in the shower takes a little fine tuning as the hot is VERY hot. But again, just a little tweaking and it was no issue :)

The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect for us as we were heading to wastwater to go paddle boarding, and the facilities were great. For a bargain price room it had everything we needed. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast, the food was great quality and very well priced.
There was a slight cleanliness issue but the staff were very apologetic and sorted it very quickly.

Location was fab, we'd booked in for a rest after Scafell/Wastwater trekking. Arrived a little early because we got done walking a bit earlier than expected. Still greeted with a warm welcome, where we were sat in the pub with a drink whilst the room was finalised. Hosting was certainly best I've experienced in a guest house setting. Even got a pencil for a crossword puzzle! Popped to Seascale (no distance really) for some tea and a walk in the evening. Bed was ridiculously comfortable and slept heavier than I have in weeks. The upstairs has been done up so well, fabulous place and fabulous value for money really.
So little to complain about it seems petty. There was a bit of trouble regarding the windows staying open. No remote for the tv which was a minor inconvenience really. Light under door maybe do with a draught excluder or something but just used a rolled up jumper. Bigger mugs for drinks maybe but the thing I have a brew out of normally is like a trough so personal preference I guess.
