lovely room, bar/restaurant area, location and staff
The breakfast. I don’t mind being charged for it (if booked through booking.com it’s not included) but to have no continental & fruit options before ordering something cooked is just a bit disappointing (and frankly a bit weird - it’s unlike any other hotel experience). Essentially it’s like a cafe - nothing is available until you order it. It really makes breakfast a rather joyless and limited experience as you aren’t able to have fruit juice, cereals, yoghurts, toast etc. without spending about £30 per head! Because if this the restaurant area on a morning we found virtually empty. I think the hotel are badly letting themselves and their guests down in this regard.

The Staff make this hotel! They were all helpful, pleasant and friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Room and facilities were well looked after, clean and tidy. Massage was fabulous and Amy that did this was lovely making us feel very comfortable as well as fab massage
There is currently some refreshing of the property (done very respectfully) so difficult to say as they maybe on the to do list: windows not fully closing in the dining room conservatory area. Shower in gents sauna a little weak.

After 1 night we were moved to a 'Garden Room' which was lovely and if I went again I certainly would try and book one of the garden rooms . The staff were very friendly and helpful . We had a dinner on two nights and the quality of the food was excellent . We had breakfast each morning for myself . This took some getting used to as each dish had a price . I have not met this before as we are used to paying a set amount for a breakfast more if full English and less ig Continental . On the other hand the breakfast was Waiter[tress ] service which was very nice and food was cooked to order .
On the first night there were some problems with the room . WE were immediately offered a 'Garden Room' which was better than what we had paid for and we loved it .

We liked the hotel location - just 4 miles from Rye. Ample parking. We were upgraded to a superior double room at no extra cost which was a nice surprise . The room was warm and comfortable & nicely furnished. We enjoyed using the pool & jacuzzi and the staff were all friendly and helpful.
The only issue was that the pillows were flat and hard. My partner & I both woke up with aches & pains in our shoulders & neck. We brought the issue to the attention of the receptionist and she was extremely helpful & found us some Moore pillows, including a feather pillow.

Most things. Check in/check out was smooth, staff very friendly and accomodating, room a good size, with plenty of space to unpack in. Breakfast was very good. We had dinner in the resturant the first night and while the menu was a bit restricted, what we chose was good. We did not make much use of the spa facilities, but the pool is better than most hotel pools we've tried. Short drive into Rye which is a lovely little place and the main reason we chose this hotel.
Mainly the weather, the weekend we chose was in January and when Storm Eyown was on the prowl. Minor issue was the heater which didn't seem to pay attention to the temperature setting

Very comfortable, clean country house hotel with friendly staff. We enjoyed a good dinner in the restaurant. Next time will bring swimming kit for the indoor pool!
Care needed with the wine list - we chose an Argentinan malbec which proved to be of very mediocre quality and well overpriced - should have selected the (cheaper) rioja crianza as a more reliable choice. With the price of restaurant wine as it now generally is, customers are likely to be more discerning about value for money and restaurants should select their wines and prices accordingly. Most hotels offer table d'hote package prices for breakfast, but here the pricing is à la carte. With a cooked breakfast, fruit juice, toast and more than one cup of coffee a couple could easily run up £40-50. We chose not to!

The staff were all very friendly and it was lovely to be able to use the pool etc. We only stayed one night, so didn't make use of much while we were there.
It would be helpful to have some sort of shelf in the shower to put shower gel, shampoo etc on. Also, it took rather a long time for any hot water to come through and when it did start, it wasn't really that hot. Our room was located on a long corridor of rooms which ended at the Spa so was quite a thoroughfare. Unfortunately the door of our room wasn't particularly sound proof and we heard everyone walking by. We were woken around 7am with what sounded like staff members calling to each other just outside our door.

Stayed just one night with a friend for a quick bit of R&R. Staff very welcoming, helpful and efficient and we were given a free upgrade which enhanced our experience even more. Our room was very comfortable and quiet with a sizeable bathroom. The shower was good and toiletries were provided. We made full use of the swimming pool on arrival and before we left, thanks to the generous check out time of 12 noon. The changing room showers had low water pressure but that wasn't a problem for us as we used the one in our room. The breakfast was well cooked and done to order. Although the hotel is a short drive from Rye, it meant it was quiet and there was easy parking which would not always be the case with hotels in the centre of Rye, because its historic nature = very narrow streets. We had such a restful time, we felt we'd been away for longer. The hotel is lovely in itself but the excellent staff were the icing on the cake!

Lovely long weekend spent in a lovely part of the country. Clean and comfortable hotel with wonderful welcoming staff. Didn't eat there every night, but the meals I had (breakfast and evening) were superb. Had an aromatherapy treatment with Polly, which was just what the doctor ordered. . An all round wonderful experience. The only thing I would criticise would be the number of poolside facilities in the spa. Just 2 beds and one table with 4 chairs . During busy times, I would imagine this would not be sufficient.

Very beautiful hotel. Very spacious and nicely decorated, staff were very friendly, welcoming and laid back and we also received a free room upgrade. The room was very spacious with a large bed that was comfy, a nice big en-suite and all the necessities supplied such as a fan, hair dryer, decent towls, tv ect. Hotel was kept nice and warm throughout since it was cold weather outside so felt nice and cosy. Was very clean and well presented thoughtout the hotel too. Spa area was nice and clean with all the facilities and stuff needed such as free towels, drinking water to use and free lockers. The hot tub was very relaxing. Resturant was great, with breakfast and dinner being served which was delicious, and the service was also great. Checking out was at 12pm, so not being rushed out too early in the morning, which was nice. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
The only things I could criticise is not having a tea/coffee station in the room, although u can have room service, somtimes it is nice to be able to just make ur own in the room. The saunas in the spa area weren't the best unfortunately, having the men's and women's separate was strange as me and my partner couldn't sit together in one. Also, the cold shower wasn't working. Other than that it was amazing.
