The island is blessed with lush vegetation and a gorgeous beach and is very well maintained. The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly. The food was very good and there was plenty of variety. Delicious curries. The house reef was excellent for snorkelling. The scuba diving was mostly good.

We were very put off by the resorts mosquito 'management' . Although largely effective, having chemicals pumped into the air each morning and afternoon can not be good for the environment or anyones health. Other resorts nearby are managing the same problem, without the use of chemicals / fogging. I'm sure this poses a serious health risk and needs to change. The creaking floors of the cottages made it difficult not to wake my companion when getting up during the night.

Our experience at Royal Island Resort was nothing short of amazing! Nestled in the heart of the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, this island is a true gem. While not overly large, the island boasts lush vegetation that creates a serene and picturesque environment. The cleanliness of the resort was impeccable, and it was clear that great care is taken to maintain it at the highest standards. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The resort team organized our transfer seamlessly, perfectly timed to coincide with our international flight, which was a huge relief. A special mention goes to Faridun, who personally welcomed us, guided us to our villa, and ensured that every detail of our stay was perfect. His attentiveness truly enhanced our experience. Our villa was a haven of comfort, cleaned twice daily with fresh water, towels, and everything else we could possibly need replenished promptly. The attention to detail was outstanding. The dining experience was equally exceptional. The buffet offered a wide variety of cuisines, catering to every palate—whether you’re a fan of traditional Maldivian dishes, Chinese flavors, European classics, or other international options. We were fortunate to have Habib as our server during meals, and his kindness, cheerful demeanor, and attentiveness made each meal a pleasure. He ensured we always had drinks and anything else we needed. We also took advantage of some of the excursions offered by the activities center, which were wonderfully organized and provided unforgettable memories. Whether you're looking for adventure or relaxation, the resort has something for everyone. We wholeheartedly recommend Royal Island Resort to anyone seeking a slice of paradise. It exceeded all our expectations, and we are already looking forward to returning one day. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special!

Fantastic spread with plenty of options

The transfer times to and from the island are the only downside of the stay. Being woken at 3:15am on the day of departure spoils the trip. It would be good to know the island departure time prior to your stay, so that you can have the option of staying in Male overnight before your international flight. We missed the evening entertainment because we had to get up at 3:15am to catch the boat, even though our international flight wasn’t until 1:05pm. This issue needs to addressed to avoid more adverse comments which will reflect badly on what is otherwise a fabulous experience.

Between the large amount of resorts in Maldives we have picked Royal Island Resort and we couldnt be happier of our choice! We were coming in after a full, busy and intense week in India and decided to pick a week of relax by the seaside. Honestly speaking? Everything worked perfectly! Starting from the warm welcoming and dedicated checkin after the internal connection handled directly by the resort, we got in touch with Nipun as our dedicated many point of contact to ease our stay. Special mention to him as really was very reactive and supporting in everything like arranging activities and escursion, providing guidance and useful recommendations everyday and brillantly solving a couple of small issues we have had during our stay which required medical support (my wife had a small otitis while I cut myself while swimming, nothing serious but promptly addressed). Kudos Nipun, well done and keep the good work! Special mention to all the staff as well as waiters, room service and aquatic sport team were all fully committed to make our stay lovely. Need to mention as well Joyce and her lovely husband which everyday are playing greatly acoustic covers and gave us the opportunity to join them playing music togheter pretty much every time they saw us! Thank you all guys, wonderful team! Looking at the island, I'll try to cut it short as you have plenty of picture available which represents the true inner beauty of this island. The seaside and corals are great as well as the rooms which were cleaned twice a DAY. No need to go with Villa with private pool in my opinion as the sea is way more cristal clear! We were staying on room 228 on the main reception and buffet restaurant side, I have noticed this side is generally more calm (at least during our stay) therefore recommended to have the perfect water condition as the other side was a bit more windy and exposed.

It's though to me when traveling to be fully satisfied by a place, I must say Royal Island really did a great impression and surprised us. We have had a wonderful time with you, thank you so much for that and see you soon!

A gorgeous place with stunning nature! The island is a small tropical pearl with a beautiful surrounding beach and a reef wall close to it. You can go safe and easily for snorkeling all around the island and swim together with sharks, turtles, eagle rays and dozens of fish species and corals. The inland has been turned to a very well maintained tropical park where the resort with all its facilities is integrated in the best possible way. The service was on the top level in all aspects and exceeded our expectations! The staff everywhere was very professional. From the housekeeping and food service trough the water sports and dive center to the management, everyone was dedicated to their work. Always positive, smiling, polite and attentive, they made us feeling special. The food in both restaurants was excellent with big variety. We would like to express our special gratitude to: our personal assistant Thoo who managed to organize our stay perfectly, to Nawwaf who did the service for us in Makaana restaurant, to the service staff in Raabondhi restaurant, to Hassan Fareed from the water sport center, to Latheef and Zaahil from the diving center and last but not least, to our housekeeper Chiran who managed to keep constantly our room clean and neat. We were treated with respect everywhere from everyone. THANK YOU GUYS, YOU DID A GREAT JOB!! We definitely want to come back again!

The staff is good at serving. We especially thank you to Budi and Phadas at reservation desk. You can taste delicous things. Swimming and snorkeling at the island was a exciting experience. One more time we can come to this hotel. Because it was a good choice for us.

The room cleaning is weak. Althoug we stayed for 5 nights, sometimes we could not get new towels and bedlinens. Mazin was not interested in us :( he did not help to us sufficiently.

stunning bungalows, right on the foot of stunning beach. top quality food at the buffet restaurant, amazing variety. the ala carte restaurant was a bit tedious. only enjoyed one dish there out of 4 meals. lovely cocktails in the bar, stunning pier and house reef where you can snorkel all day. had the most amazing 7 nights.

The staff at the buffest restaurant were nice but was really weird, they tried to kick us out of the table a few times saying that they want it for another family who sat there for 5 days, there wasnt any reserved sign post on the table, and it happened 3 times. I did not simply understand the politics behind it, because we went there as family of 3 ,nobody gave us a designated seating. I got put off by their behaviour so I skipped 3 meals. I would have rated the resort as 10 but just because of this behaviour I wont, no 5 star hotel would treat guests like that. they did say sorry in the end. also, house keeping were very clumsy, they forgot to replace towels a few times, didnt replace water bottles which are just basic.

This was our second time visiting Royal Island and 5th visiting the Maldives. The food was amazing. The Executive Chef Ishag Solih delivered a phenomenal array of cuisine with different themes each evening. He was so passionate about the food. His heart and soul was in it. I really loved the traditional Maldivian food night. Maha our Personal Assistant was so helpful and sent us daily updates of what activities were going on. A really kind and caring person who ensured our time in Royal Island went smoothly.

Cost of drinks is very high. ☹️ This is the same across the Maldives due to having to import alcohol and costs associated with that.

It is a very nice hotel, it got everything you need! All the villas are clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a kids club where you can leave your baby and they have different craft activities every day. The food is good. A la carte restaurant has a better food but the service is very slow. In general they have everything you need for a perfect vacation with a great value for money! Spa is very beautiful. They offer many water activities as well. I suggest you take premium all-inclusive and at least 7 days to get all the benefits and experiences for free. The reef is good, we saw sharks, mantas, many different fishes.

The floors are very slippery in the villa. It is not safe. You need to wear rubber slippers at all times. And the bathroom is not brand new, kind of old, but clean anyway.

The hotel itself is very good, quite big in size and has a good sport facilities. Excellent food!! 2 restaurants and nice bar near the pool. Plus you can choose a lot from water sports or nearby travel offers.

Trip from Male international airport to the island needs improvement (eg sea plane). You have to take local airlines to the nearby island and it’s only 2 flights per day, without fixed time. Be prepared to spent 5-6h to finally reach the hotel or the same time to reach your return flight. We arrived to Male at 8:00am and only at 14:00 were in the hotel. On a way back (if you have a morning flight back) the pickup time is 4-15am or 5am and after you have to wait your departure. Afternoon arrivals/departures will be similar in time.
