Excellent value and a decent location on the Asakusa and Oedo lines. Room was a bit small, even by business hotel standards but was mostly fine. Had a bit of a hard time opening my suitcases. Internet was fast and reliable. Bed was a bit hard even by Japanese standards. The free breakfast was good and filling with a good selection and was fresh. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

The inn itself was amazing. One of the things that I really enjoyed from the inn is that the bathroom featured both a hand-shower head and a waterfall style from above, so showers were very enjoyable. The bed was a little hard, but generally the inn was a pretty comfortable experience. The lobby and the facilities were very clean and bright. My stay included breakfast, and the breakfast was a self-serve style. They had options of some rice, some meat patties that I think were made from beef, traditional pickled items, miso soup and more. (The quality of the breakfast was very good, and it was fantastic to start the day off with miso soup in the morning.) The inn is located near the Asakusa line, just roughly 2-3 minute walk from the inn, so travelling is very easy. Nearby are also a few combini, a ramen restaurant that I enjoyed going to for a few nights, a Yoshinoya if you wanted budget options for donburis, and a McDs if you're more comfortable with that. Not too far (in my opinion) are the Sensouji Temple and Akihabara in the other direction.
The bed was a little hard, but that other than that no other complaints.

Location is in a quiet area, there are bars and restaurants very nearby. The nearest station is Kuramae ( Asakusa line stop number A17)so it’s one stop to Asakusa or a 10-15 minute walk. To visit other areas of Tokyo the underground station is just around the corner. Make sure to exit via. A2, turn left then left again, a few minutes at most ( note there are two Kuramae stations on different lines that are not linked). Tokyo Skytree is walkable from here, other attractions such as Shibuya are 30-40 minutes away by underground. The room is similar to a UK Travelodge but better. One side of the bed is against the wall but one side and bottom has 2-3 foot all round plus room in the entrance. Loads of room for suitcases under the bed. The bed was firm but we slept well. Air con worked well. Room has TV, fridge, safe, hairdryer, kettle ( green tea so bring your own coffee). Bathroom, like the bedroom didn’t look amazing but had a great shower, Japanese toilet and even a mirror that didn’t steam up. Breakfast lacked presentation but was perfectly ok. Great for us as a quick bite before we headed out to eat more. I can understand why the breakfast isn’t for everyone. If you are unlucky it can be quite full but usually ok. It is a bit like a works staff canteen. Laundry facilities here are great, reasonably priced and clothes dry in 30 minutes. Cost was 61000yen for a week ( that’s £45 night in British money ) so can’t complain. It’s a budget hotel, it’s functional not romantic. There’s a bath not a swimming pool. I made a call back to UK, expected to pay a fortune but was charged 150yen, the staff and the pricing are fair. The hotel gave us everything we required and would recommend here especially if like us you are out all day and night.
Given the cost breakfast was ok but not keen on the plastic plates.

Great location and proximity to public transit, great access to some of the tourist attractions on the east side of Tokyo (walking distance to Asakusa & a short metro trip to SkyTree). Good security as only room card carrying guests can enter the elevator to the rooms. Fairly good soundproofing in the rooms. Steady and solid wifi connection in the rooms. Overall good value stay. Great water pressure throughout.
Mattress is extra firm here (probably for other Toyoko Inn franchise as this is our second one) so it will take adjusting to if one is used to a soft or even medium-firm surface back home. The double room had less electrical outlets than other competitors & Toyoko Inn stays, so charging multiple devices required some foresight and planning.

The hotel being right over the Asakusa metro line means it's extremely well placed to move all around Tokyo. Bonus points to the fact that you can grab easily an Express train to and from Haneda Airport, avoiding so the switcharound at Hamamatsucho to get the Tokyo Monorail (which is also more expensive than using the Asakusa/Keikyu line). Breakfast is a buffet, simple but plenty, a bit like a mess hall as it is served in styrofoam trays and paper cups. The Hotel allows the customers also to prepare their breakfast as a takeaway. Rooms are small but plenty furnished. Be aware, a large suitcase may be a real struggle to get inside the room! The corridor to the room is short and not very wide, the only way i see fitting the suitcase is always opening and closing it, and hope it will fit under the bed. The hotel also offers amenities only if you need them, you can grab them from the main hall, even a night gown, very nice touch if you move a lot between places and want to pack as light as possible.
The bedding. The mattress is very stiff, the pillow is double-sided, one side that doesn't hold your head weight at all, the other as hard as a rice sack! Another issue I've found is the bed sheet and duvet, it traps moisture like you're in a greenhouse. Despite having the Air Conditioning running in dehumidifier mode to keep the insane Tokyo heat and humidity at bay in the room, I would find myself waking up in the middle of the night to wipe off sweat off me, with the bedsheets needing 20-30 minutes of airing to be not soaking wet.

The room was spotless, it had everything you need and a very nice view to Sumida river. During my 7 nights stay, my room was cleaned two times, the dates and time slot being communicated to me at the reception upon check-in; I also received clean towels every day. The hotel is very close to Kuramae stations on Asakusa and Oedo lines, making it very accesible; Asakusa area is one metro stop away, and it only takes 20 minutes to get to Ueno station. Sumida river promenade is 5 minutes away. There's also a Mc Donald's, plenty of traditional japanese restaurants and a 7-Eleven nearby. They have late check-out option, which is very nice, especially when your flight leaves late at night.
Is the first time when I stay in a hotel with no heating system, just the AC.

I've been very pleased with my stay at Toyoko Inn Tokyo Asakusa Kuramae No.2! The staff at the front desk may not speak English but I also don't speak Japanese so we made do with translation apps and they were always willing and happy to help. They explained how the laundry machines worked as the signs were poorly translated and the process seemed complicated. They also helped me with the transfer of one of my suitcases to Kyoto, which was very nice of them. The hotel was very clean and in a great location, very close to transport links and various amenities. The room was the perfect size for my needs with space for two suitcases and even though I booked a smoking room and I am not a smoker, I can't say it smelled heavily of cigarettes. The floor itself stank in the evenings though but I guess that's unavoidable. My favourite bit from this stay was the breakfast. Some everyday staples like rice and various types of soup were present every morning but there were also rotating menu items available which made the experience even nicer. The kitchen staff were always happy to help if you needed it. All in all, a great stay.

Conveniently located between two stations, several convenience stores within walking distance, main areas of Asakusa accessible by foot. Fresh towels dropped off in a basket outside the room each day, which was nice. Bathroom was a decent size for Japanese hotels.
The bed was incredibly firm (common in Japan) and pretty uncomfortable. I ended up buying a pillow from IKEA as you only get one pillow and when I asked if I could have a second one, they said no. Hotel has a rule against guests in the rooms and requests all interactions with guests take place in the lobby area, which was a bit strange.

very convenient to Kuramae Station (Toei Asakusa Line. Not linked to Oedo Line.) the hotel is a 2 min walk from A2 exit. Even though there was room service only once every 4 days, fresh towels were provided and rubbish were cleared everyday (You have to put your bin at your door). free breakfast was provided too, simple Japanese fare.
Similar to other Japanese hotels/rooms, the space was a little limited. We couldn’t open 2 luggages at the same time. But this was not a big issue for us. However, if you are travelling with someone else and both of you are larger in size (me and my partner were 162 and 175cm for your reference), you may wish to book a bigger room.

The location is excellent: Kuramae is not particularly central but it is close to the center, and very close to Sumida River, Asakusa and Akihabara. The train lines are good. Lots of konbini stores and good restaurants nearby. The room is quite big and comfortable for Tokyo standards. Bathroom is very good and there were no problems with water pressure or temperature. Relation between quality and price is great.
Breakfast area is small and it can get quite crowded. The food (Japanese style) was generally good, but the variety each day was quite limited. The main problem is waste. Everyday you use a plastic bento which ends up in the garbage. Everything from the breakfast goes into the garbage, which is unthinkable in an era where ecological concerns are at the forefront. It is said that the sheets are changed in each four days, but the bed is made all days. My bed was not made all days. They would leave new towels at my door, which were not necessary. I stayed for more than two weeks and ended my stay with more than ten plastic bags with towels inside in the floor of my room. It was quite strange that they didn't took them away and kept leaving new bags everyday.
