The hotel itself is beautiful and has a lot to offer. Not far from the train station and also the main Shinjuku station is fairly close, but the hotel itself is in a quiet place. The hotel has an Onsen (tattoo friendly) and a late night snack bar for guests. Also, the hotel has washing machines and dryers, vending machines and other things for the guests which is very useful! The room was a bit small (we were aware) but enough for two with 2 suitcases and 2 trollies. The bed was super comfortable and the view of the city was nice!

Loved everything. Ryokan ambience and service with modern facilities. Breakfast was traditional and wonderful, such a change from boring buffets, highly recommend. The view from the Onsen is the best. Lots of bars and restaurants close by. TIP look for exit E1 from the station and you will be able to get within a few hundred meters of the hotel easily with elevators to manage your luggage.

Some guests do not respect this hotels values. Noisy, arguing in the corridors and worst of all getting into the Onsen without first showering or leaving a mess of suds as if expecting Mum to tidy up after them.

Inviting entrance. Friendly and helpful front staff. Clean room with snacks and tea. Housekeeping is excellent. Open-air hot spring (REAL hot spring water from Hakone) with partial view of Mt. Fuji in the morning and Shinjuku skyline view in the evening. Seven Eleven (open 24 hour) is right across the street. Laundromat + beverage vending machine + free drinking water (grab the water bottle from your room!) are on the 5th, 10th and 15th floors respectively.

The twin room is a little tight for 2 persons. The bath area can get crowded in the evening and get not-so-clean quickly. The water cooler dispenser at the Onsen needs to be refilled/replaced frequently during the busy hours.

The onsen (spa) with the view was awesome and our favorite part! Comfortable room, great amenities with robe and slippers for the onsen. Enjoyed the central location.

Contemporary style ryokan which was spotlessly clean w comfortable large king futon. Had a room w a city view on the 16th flr and not disappointed. Stunning view towards Tokyo metropolitan government building w a sneak peak of Mt Fuji in the far distance. It was lovely to return at night w some konbini ice cream n watch the flashing lights. The ensuite was compact but functional. Shower w separate bath. Lovely Japanese toilet. Room was small but ok to keep our large suitcase open. No drawers. Very little hanging space. Big tv but only local jap channels so never watched anything. Enough USB n power points to charge. The top floor onsen is the highlight. Same views as our room. Indoor n outdoor onsen, separate sexes. Good facilities to wash. Not many people in evenings but busy in morning. Excellent to soothe muscles after long day walking. Icy poles to snack on too. Nearest station 8 min walk. Shinjuku station a good 20 min. 7/11 opposite n busy w tourists. Didn’t try restaurant but complimentary supper included sake, nuts, crackers n cheese was nice. You can take back to your room. No issues w lift as mentioned in past reviews. Reception recommended east Shinjuku area of restaurants which were fantastic n seemed full of locals. Went back a few times to try diff types. Happy to book this ryokan again.

Staff average English but more not really keen to be helpful. Asked options to get to airport but only said walk to Shinjuku station. Saw airport buses picking up outside ryokan! Asked how to get to Yayoi Museum during Tokyo marathon…still suggested bus despite telling them that bus route was cordoned off. No response after that. Commendable that trying to be sustainable w minimal hard copy info but, supplying individually wrapped snacks n toothpaste, I was hoping to get a disposable shower cap. Petty I know. I would recommend book a cheaper smaller room just to sleep in n see the view at the top floor onsen. Take advantage of midnight snacks n the multiple konbinis.

Having stayed here when I first arrived in Japan I was more than happy that I had booked for my last few days. I had the feeling I was 'coming home' as I was familiar with this brilliant establishment. Its location is fantastic -close to the frenetic city but in a quiet street to allow some chill time. the rooms whilst small are more than functional and the roof top onsen is a wonderful way in which to revitalise the body for another day in the great city.

Slightly small shower. That I had to come home.

- The hotel is beautiful. Great design! - Lots of attention to details - Clean - Nice amenities in the room - The atmosphere is very calming and relaxing even though you are in the center of Tokyo - Walking distance to the major sights in Shinjuku - Amazing view from our room to the skyline of Shinjuku - Great to have an Onsen on the rooftop with an incredible view - The breakfast is awesome - Great value for what you get

- The room was clean, but there was some dust in the air of the room. I think it is because of the ventilation. If you are not too sensitive it will be fine but it could be a problem if you are allergic. - Sometimes the onsen on the rooftop can attract loud American tourists that go to socialize instead of relaxing like everyone else.

The bed was incredibly comfortable. Soft but still supportive. Great views from the bedroom Very clean Lovely touches like the good quality green tea and tea pot set in room The Yukata felt luxurious to wear Great having an outdoor onsen with city views. Hotel had a calm atmosphere 7 11 across the road - great for breakfast and snacks A nice local feeling area but still about 20 minutes walk to heart of Shinjuku

No sound proofing. Had to wear ear plugs. Could hear everything, paper thin walls. Lifts - incredibly slow. Seem to take 10-15 minutes to wait for a lift at times. The location was a bit too far from the closest station. After a long day sight seeing with very sore feet - the distance from the station was very tiring. I found the layout of the room quite awkward.

ONSEN RYOKAN YUEN SHINJUKU was one of our most comfortable stays in Japan. The beds were by far the best we experienced, making for an amazing night’s sleep. The breakfast was delicious, and we highly recommend trying the lemon-honey-vinegar drink—a refreshing surprise! The overall atmosphere was calm and serene, from the lobby to the breathtaking onsen, which offers stunning views of the Tokyo skyline.

The downsides? It’s quite popular with tourists, which means it may not feel as authentically Japanese if that’s what you’re looking for. Also, the windows cannot be opened, making it an air-conditioning-only room, which might be a drawback for some. Additionally, we noticed a lot of dust in the room—if you have a dust allergy, this could be a big trigger! That said, we still think this is an ideal choice for first-time visitors to Tokyo, as it provides a smooth transition between Western and Japanese hospitality.

Really great, traditional breakfast, beautifully served with a story. Rooms are clean and convenient. Love the washing machines and amenity room. Onsen is wonderful but it tends to be crowded towards evening. Enjoy the free ice-lolly in front of the onsen. Beds were super comfy.

The rooms were smaller than expected, there's not much room for our luggage. But this is to be expected of rooms in Tokyo.
