Location and the comuns spaces are awesome, they have 4 washing and drawing machines, it a super plus. You get drinks if you opt out of room cleaning. The staff is really nice! Minana great recommendation!

To make it a 10 they need to insulate better the room doors you hear a lot the other guests getting out of their rooms.

We have a great staying experience in TUNE STAY KYOTO. The room is tidy and clean, the bed is sooooo comfortable, and the bathroom is clean with a separate shower and toilet. The location is very close to Kyoto station, around 5 mins. Therefore, it is very convenient to visit any place in Kyoto or even visit 宇治 or 奈良。 They even have a cozy library, where you can chill and relax, and a self-serve kitchen where you can cook or enjoy a simple breakfast with a cup of tea or coffee. As a foreigner who cannot speak Japanese, the staff at the counter of TUNE STAY KYOTO really save our life. They speak good English, so there are no worries about communication or asking any questions if any. Thus, we had a good experience starting from checking in till checking out of the hotel.

The hotel was very pretty and it was cool that there were movie showings every night! There’s also a gin bar and it’s a ten minute walk from Kyoto station which is nice if your coming from Tokyo to Kyoto!

It was far from the nightlife. There was a ton of restaurants that were opened late by the hotel some were even opened when I was walking past the bars. You could Uber back to the hotel when there are no more trains or buses left. I just opted to walk and it was nice! I felt very safe and there were people leaving restaurants when I got closer to my hotel. I just needed a more younger crowd at the bars and it was easier to talk to people as a solo traveler.

Comfortable and secure location just a few blocks from Kyoto Station. This was my second stay at this location. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. I love the ability to go out and eat in the city, or bring ingredients back and cook in the well supplied basement kitchen and common dining area. I stayed in a double size bed room with tv, desk, plenty of storage and hanging space, in suite sink, toilet, and generous shower facilities.

If you like to have temperature control over your room, this stay only has central heating which means you're controlling how hot or cool your room is by opening the window and/or adding or removing your duvet.

It was close to Kyoto station-we were able to walk with our luggage to the hotel. Staff was helpful and allowed us to leave our luggage both before and after check-in/out. Our room was small but well appointed and we found it comfortable. We had everything we needed and enjoyed the movies, bar, and popcorn in the evenings. Overall would stay again for the cleanliness, comfort, and kind staff. The bunk room was good for my friend and I and though small, we had enough room to store our luggage. The extra linens for grabs in the hall was nice as well.

Very stylish hostel/hotel, comfortable beds, functional bathroom, very friendly and helpful staff, really cool common area with book shelves, seats and couches. A movie is shown there every night. We especially appreciated the coin laundry and the community kitchen, where you could sit and eat your bought food or cook your meals. There is no breakfast here except the possibility to buy a bagel and drink in the morning, but we got a coffee here and bought breakfast at the convenience store. Places to eat are nearby. The hotel is close to the train station, the bus line to Nijo Castle, and within walking distance of a nice park and a big buddhist temple. Would definitely come back if I ever return to Kyoto.

Not their fault but air conditioning is centralized, you have a control in your room but it doesn't change, you can basically just turn it on or off. We could live with that but people sensitive to cold air conditioning probably would suffer. Also, people with younger children should probably not rent a room with bunk bed as the upper bed has only a very small safety bar.

We really loved the modern and sleek vibe to the hotel. Very welcoming and friendly staff that greeted us every time they saw us! Loved the kitchen space and the amenities weren't too bad, not great but decent! No problem with getting cups from the kitchen space, we loved that they provided mugs instead of paper cups. Happy with getting our own towels without having to wait for staff. Rooms were clean. Compact but comfortable! We were on the 11th floor and had no issues.

Upon arriving the shower room smelled awful and we had to air it out and ventilate it before using. Fridge could have been set cooler. AC does not work, and the shower temperature went hot then cold, it was repetitive but shower pressure was great. Wifi was on and off.

Great location, easy walk to restaurants, shops, the Kyoto train station and to busses. Walking distance to some of the shrines. The hotel was very clean, staff were friendly and helpful. The laundry room was useful. The communal kitchen and lounge were well resourced.

Only one thing was less than pleasant. The room temperature is controlled centrally. My room was stuffy, hot, airless and therefore uncomfortable. The window opened only a small amount and the weather was very humid so “fresh” air was not available. Being in the room was unpleasant.

This hotel is absolutely amazing and has so much to offer to its guests. From the moment you arrive, the front desk hospitality makes you feel incredibly welcome. The place is incredible—it features a hotel bar that serves craft gins and even hosts nightly movie screenings at 9 PM, adding a touch of entertainment to your stay. The hotel also boasts a library with a remarkable collection of 2,500 books, offering a blend of English and Japanese titles—a perfect retreat for book lovers. The art exhibitions throughout the hotel are a delightful surprise, and the minimalist interior design, combined with the brutalist raw concrete walls in the kitchen, is simply stunning. The lighting is thoughtfully designed and strategically placed, creating an impeccable ambience that feels both cozy and refined. The convenience is unmatched. Many buses in the area make it easy to commute to places of interest, and food is readily available with Nakau and Family Mart just steps away. For even more variety, Kyoto Tower Sando’s food court is nearby and offers a great selection of dining options. Don Quijote is also nearby, and Anytime Fitness is just a 10-minute walk away. Additionally, the hotel has a laundromat, so you don’t have to brave the weather to get your clothes cleaned and dried. While the rooms don’t have bathtubs, you can book private baths through the reception, which adds to the charm of the experience. Overall, this hotel is a perfect balance of style, comfort, and thoughtful amenities—highly recommended!

There’s hardly anything to dislike about this place—it truly ticks almost all the boxes. The only minor issue was that the hot water wasn’t consistently stable, but everything else more than made up for it.

The location was perfect for us, only a few blocks away from Kyoto station. The hotel has a really nice amphitheater that we can relax while reading books or working with our laptops. The kitchen was very spacious, clean, and had appropriate kitchenware and dinnerware. There was a laundry facility as well, so we didn’t have to bring so much clothes. Also, the staff were very friendly. On our last day, we had to leave our luggages for a while since our bus leaves at night. When we came back to pick them up, the staff were kind enough to let us use the public shower so we could clean ourselves before a long ride home. Thank you so much!
