Beautiful "Japanese Style" room with Tatami and essential amenities. The hotel had a "premium" feel to it and had a calm and relaxing atmosphere throughout the hotel. The staff are amazing; they are polite and cater very well to people with little to no command of the Japanese language (sorry!). Upon our arrival, we were absolutely shattered from our previous adventures in Osaka. I asked the staff if we could check-in early by about 2.5 hours and they were able to facilitate this for what I felt was a fair and reasonable fee. Location is extremely convenient being just a couple minutes' walk from Kyoto station. Plenty of eating/drinking options around the hotel, as well as convenience stores and vending machines. We didn't opt to include food from the hotel during our stay as we were only staying for a night and had a packed schedule. However, I do regret this having seen the wonderful quality of this hotel and staff, would like to try the food next time when we inevitably stay here in the future. Due to the relaxed atmosphere I decided to try the public bath here, having not experienced this before. While I had opportunities to experience a public bath in the larger hotels I stayed at in Osaka and Tokyo, the larger number of people and the energy of those places didn't match what I was looking for. This hotel provided a nice Yukata with clear guidance on how to wear them as well as public bathing etiquette (perfect for a newbie). I found the public bath to be a relaxing experience, and it really seemed to help my body recover and ease my sore muscles. When we checked out, we wanted to have one last look around Kyoto before setting off to the craziness that is Tokyo. We wanted to take full advantage of the hotel's location and asked if we could leave our bags there until the afternoon before we caught a Shinkansen from Kyoto station.

Nothing.

Location was nice and the hotel was clean and rooms spacious. Nice public baths.

We had booked a room with a child and a room category which comes with 3 beds but they had only put 2 beds and when we asked for the 3rd they said we haven’t paid for the child. The next morning I went to the reception and showed them the booking and then they added the 3rd bed so was a bit inconvenient for us for that first night. We had asked for more water beyond the 2 small bottles they provided and they brought us water in a little jug that didn’t smell very nice.

The staff were extremely helpful and kind. I really enjoyed staying in a traditional Japanese room, as it enhanced my cultural experience in Kyoto. The public bath was wonderful at the end of two long days of sightseeing - I had it almost entirely to myself and soaking in a hot bath soothed my tired muscles.

I found it hard to sit on the floor to do some work on the computer, but this is a part of this style of hotel. I would still stay there again!

Really well situated and such a fabulous, luxurious place. We took a traditional Japanese room and it was big, spacious and minimalistic. We slept on futons (and both had a very good night sleep)and had all the amenities needed (from tea and cookies, to yukatas, toiletries, hairdryer etc). Yes it's a little bit on the pricey side but we only stayed 2 nights and wanted to experience a ryokan and the price is really worth it.

It was the fasting month of Ramadhan so I couldn't take the breakfast package and didn't have the chance to dine at the restaurant either. Location is superb, walk underground using the Porta Dining route then exit to get straight to the Ryokan

I love everything about the place. A small improvement would be to add proper bath mats. One medium size towel is provided daily but as there is no bath mat provided, we use that medium towel as bath mats. Hence we have no extra towel to dry hair

The property was clean both in the public areas and in the private rooms. It smelled so nice too! When we couldn’t get cleaning service when one of our family members was sick and rested in the room, the cleaning staff put an entire bag of fresh towels, sundries, and snacks outside for us. The onsen and laundry facilities were very convenient too.

Rooms and bathrooms are small, but that is typical in Japanese hotels.

Very excellent introduction to the traditional ryokan for my family and myself. We loved our room, the entire building was clean and the breakfast was excellent! We also loved the yukata provided in our room. We regret only that we didn't experience the onsen.

Honestly, I cannot think of anything. Personally, I forgot to bring body lotion which would have been nice to have but that was a 'me problem.'

Lovely, spacious ryokan — excellent location for traveling on Japan rail passes. The welcome cookies were delicious; the robot in the lobby is amusing (if not really useful as a concierge); staff were lovely; the room was nice and spacious; and the women’s ‘public’ bath was fabulous after long days of walking and exploring.

Location was amazing, it was right next to the Kyoto station so it was easy for us to travel to our destinations easily, and had easy access to conbinis and restaurants. The room was very clean and organized. It was a pleasant experience sleeping in a Japanese traditional room.

Staff couldn’t be more attentive. Facilities excellent and clean. Very quiet. Great night sleep. Breakfast amazing. Location just what you need when visiting the area. Literally 2 minutes from the train station. Great value for money. The water wall and area to chill out in is just lovely and calming. Would highly recommend.

All fantastic. I have no complaints
