The room was perfect. It even had a little window alcove where I sat and drank my complimentary tea each morning wearing my complimentary yukata. Excellent location, just 5 minutes walk from Kyoto station, so I could easily get anywhere in the city. The staff was incredible. I loved this place.

Nothing at all.

The fact that it was literally 5 minutes from Kyoto Station, it was 100% clean, the staff were almoat warm, welcoming and polite, and they do keep the traditional ambience from the moment you step into the Ryokan where you take your shoes off and they give you leather slip-ons until you get to your room. They also give you traditional pijamas to wear inaide the Ryokan and tea with hot water, as well of course having a futon bed, floor chair with pillow and a floor table so you can have a true Japanese experience. That, and the price is unimaginably great, not expensive at all compared to some others. They even give you 4 waters for free.

Quiet, traditional tatami room, very clean and organized. There is a small table with a mirror, very cute. The manager was very nice and kind. Maybe he's the kindest person I have evert met during my trip to Japan. We even had hot water ready for tea upon arrival in our room. We were able to check in early as the room were available at that time. He also kept our luggages for a few hours on the day we checked out. The shared bathroom was super clean. The location is very good too, close to Kyoto station and there is a big and very beautiful pagoda nearby.

The shared bathroom was a little cold for me maybe and there was no bidet as it's kept original I think. It's just a small thing. Overall it looks really traditional Japan tatami place and it was a very good experience.

Firstly, all the staff there are amazing, they make your stay very comfortable and ensure you have everything you need. They always have your key ready when you enter (as you need to leave it when you go out) and will ask if you want room cleaning or want to stay in a bit later. This means you have the option to stay in after 10am if you don't want cleaning, but you still get given new towels to change yourself which is good. They are great with attention to detail such as leaving a thermos of hot water for tea when the room is cleaned and leaving bottles of water in the fridge and clean towels everyday too. The room was also very clean and was well stocked with soaps, toothbrushes etc and has instructions in English for things like the AC which is fantastic. Location wise it's perfect as it's only a few minutes walk from Kyoto Station as well as many restaurants and shops, so you don't need to travel far for anything. It's also in a quiet location, so you get a good night's rest. The room itself was a good size, had plenty of space for my suitcase and had a very nice "balcony" area which was perfect for drinking tea in. The futon was comfortable and also convenient as it could be folded away to create more space. Everywhere was very clean and well maintained. There also weren't too many rules for a ryokan, obviously there will be some, which also meant that didn't cause any stress as someone not used to it. Overall I would say this is one of the best places I've ever stayed in, mostly due to the hospitality and definitely the best one of my Japan trip. I would like to thank them again for my fantastic stay and I hope to stay again on a future trip.

Best place we stayed at in Japan! The location is great - close to Kyoto station and walking distance to a lot of the "must see" places in Kyoto. It was quite cold & wet while we were in Kyoto so it was great to come back to a warm room. The room was large and the futons were very comfortable. The shared bathrooms were spotless - we didn't have to wait to use them once during our stay - it was like we had them to ourselves. The staff were very helpful. Although there is no food options, there are many places to choose from that are walking distance. Would definitely recommend this place.

Only one small thing that I would mention is that the shower heads in the bathroom weren't great but i wouldn't let that get in the way of staying here - it was a great place to stay.

Staff and overall environment was lovely. It seems family run. Location was great, quiet side street easily walkable to the station. First time I stayed in a Japanese-style room and it was really cool! I actually preferred sleeping on the floor, good mixture of firmness with a soft mattress. Quiet room and area, I think due to the type of guest choosing to stay here and their no kids policy (if only my flight here had such a policy).

Not much really. They hit you with a bunch of rules and disclaimers about the curfew and such, this was initially a little off-putting (who wants to be told what to do on vacation, right?), but I realised these rules are because they are not able to be staffed 24/7 and really were not a problem for us at all. I almost forgot the gongs! Some buddhist temple or something woke us up at like 5 am smashing gongs. No idea what's going on with that, but I can't really hold the hotel accountable for that.

The room looked like a traditional inn. It was the most spaceous room I had when in Japan. It is located near Kyoto station. I had facilities like heater, kettle, TV, wardrobe, fridge. The teaset with the thermo jug was coo and a good idea. The host was very nice. Said yes or no to cleaning everyday, and if no you leave the old towels and bin in a basket outside the room, where they are replaced with new. There is a lift. Let me keep my bags there before check in. Futon was comfy.

I liked everything

Our first Ryokan in Japan. Centrally located near main rail station & so great for rail/ light rail/ metro and bus links - excellent as always in Japan. Very friendly host who in English explained to foreign guests concepts for a stay in a Ryokan as he took us to our rooms. Comfortable Futons. Western style chairs but also floor cushions for writing desk. Fridge with enough mineral water for our stay. TV/ AC and kettle with supply of sachets green tea as wells as teapot and cups traditional. Foreign adaptor plug helpfully available in the room. Noticeably more spacious than the modern hotels we were used to staying in (3 star). On each floor , sharing with other guests, male / female shower areas with fresh towel supply and male / female toilets Very hospitable and friendly hosts and the lady host kindly explained ( with the help of google translate) where the nearest ER was when one of us needed emergency medical assistance.

Noted wash basins not male/female designated and open to anyone crossing floor landing, so exposed to other guests crossing floor or using lift or stairs, - rather disconcerting when shaving or brushing teeth. Also but more understandable, signs limiting use of washing machine and tumble dryer to certain hours so noise did not disturb other guests. Not sure about disabled access and if you have problems with either lying down on floor level and then getting up easily, you might find this challenging as one of us found out- though we adapted

6 min from kyoto station and walking distance to many attractions. Since the station is nearby, day trips are easily done. The room was big in japanese standards, very clean, comfortable, well lit, warm and comfortable. It was very quiet and easy to sleep. The staff,a gentleman at the reception, was very welcoming and helpful. I was offered clean towels and tea every day. There was complimentary water in the room, a kettle and effective AC.

Nothing that I didn't like.

Very peaceful and traditional looking hotel. Very quiet inside and clean. I love that you have to take off your shoes as soon as you enter. The workers were all very respectful, helpful, and friendly to chat with. The room itself was very quaint and lovely to look at. Definitely was more unique then staying at a traditional hotel

The futon bed isn't the most comfortable way to sleep. I'm a side sleeper so it was a little bit of a struggle for me. Also the drying machine wasn't very strong and my clothes were still a little wet. Not a huge issue though and I just hung dry my clothes in my room.
