The first appearances are not great. From the outside, the hotel looks dated and unkempt. However, once you walk through the doors, the feeling of warmth and welcome is apparent. The staff are excellent. The food in the dining room was superb and well within the normal price range. Regarding the room, I booked a single, and my room had a most comfortable king-sized bed and an extra single. The room was pristine and served complementary coffee, tea, and biscuits. As a single older female, in an area I had never been to before, I felt welcomed and extremely safe, inside and outside the hotel. The resident areas were key access only, which is nice as many hotels are not. I would not hesitate to stay there again and would definitely give the hotel and the staff 5 stars. And I'm really picky! Well done to the staff.

We had a fantastic stay in the Carrickdale Hotel this weekend. The room was lovely, view out the back, not so much but it didn't impact on our stay. The room was spacious, clean and well stocked. The bathroom was great with a large spa bath and plenty of toiletries. My husband and I went to the restaurant for dinner and the staff were really lovely, had time to stop and chat with us. Michelle, the restaurant manager was so lovely and she arranged a dessert plate for our wedding anniversary. Other staff were great especially Megan and Iona. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. Breakfast this morning was very good, plenty of food to choose from too. Everything was just great!

A later check out, like 12pm would be great as 11am is just a little bit early

Spacious, comfortable room with beautiful spa bath. Great to be able to open the window for fresh air. The menu includes a vegan section which was excellent and the food overall was really good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful gardens and the Secret Garden cafe was very nice. During the week when the hotel was not so busy, it was really enjoyable to sit in the lobby or lounge areas.

While the bed was very comfortable, the pillows were not at all soft or comfortable. At the weekend, the hotel was full and very busy, with lots of children running around. There were children running up and down the corridors outside my room until well after 11pm at night. On the weekend it was impossible to get a seat in the lounge or reception area as it was very busy and so many people and children made it extremely noisy in all the public areas.

The atmosphere, its down to the wonderful staff who create such a welcoming atmosphere, their friendly nature and always willing to help everyone enjoy their stay. The simple little things you find here are what makes this place so special, from the waiter going the extra mile for our baby, the cleaners letting us stay that little bit longer as baby was sleeping, the chocolates laid out in our room, staff that greet you or even stop to make conversation with you, what you get here you don't find in many hotels

Unwelcoming reception staff. Heating system by fan .Unpleasant and uncomfortable. After a harrowing journey from Belfast port , we are usually warmly welcomed by the Receptionists. This time they were cold and indifferent , which was disappointing , and made us consider staying somewhere else. But the other staff were very kind and warm so changed our minds. The heating system is very uncomfortable. Fan heating dries out the air. Causes irritation to the eyes. There are radiators in the room but no Central Heating.

Lovely views of the mountains, the secret garden is beautiful and nice to have a little playground for kids. Pool and changing facilities were very good. The staff were very helpful and service was really good, they were very friendly. The beds were very comfy and the rooms had aircon and a fridge.

The food wasn't great. The lunch and dinner menu is good but everything was a bit bland. The property is also split in two through a main road. The gardens and leisure centre are on one side and hotel is on the other. There is an underground tunnel to cross but but with a buggy or for wheelchair access you have to cross the main road.

I attended function in Pinewood suite, good room for the function. Breakfast was good, room was very crowded with low ceiling the room became very warm My Room was fine I like the water refill areas, better than having a bottle of water

Price was ok I think offered ok value for money Breakfast was crowded and a bit chaotic Area near reception was busy and noisy with a lot of children running around, perhaps a childrens area for them to let off steam should be separated from reception and bar areas.

We loved the facilities that the hotel provided such as the pool, secret garden and more. We loved the room as it was spacious and wasn't cramped at all. The staff we lovely and always accommodating! There was also a wee Christmas Market on the secret area when we stayed and we thought it was so lovely

The view was a bit disappointing, we didn't have a view at all. As well as the lack of spa treatments available, online it should warn that spa is not included with the booking. We also we're disturbed at 10-11 o'clock with room service trying to get into our room luckily we had the door locked as they were persistent at, a little heads up would be nice.

All the staff are very friendly and helpful The hotel is lovely- the leisure facilities were great - we used everything but loved the outside hot tub the best. We had treatments at the spa which were good. We had breakfast, dinner in the main restaurant, lunch in the secret garden plus food in the bar. Plenty to choose from and it all tasted great. Cocktails were lovely as well. The gardens are nice and very well looked after. The car park is secure. The befroom was big and tidy. Tea/coffee facilities were brilliant and nice to have an fridge with complimentary bottle of water. Lovely few days away to relax and unwind.

The main road is abit noisy so pack ear plugs if your an light sleeper

Stayed for evening meal in the restaurant - not a lot of choices for main meals!! and a bit on the expensive side!! Restaurant was very busy but waitress made sure we had our meal in good time.

television in room was very small and remote didn't work! When the room was serviced, dirty linen was left on the bed!! NO decaf coffee and NO milk - had to go back to reception to ask. - Just an inconvenience.
