We liked 99% of the staff. See comment below. The food was lovely. The rooms were very impressive. We stayed in the Donegal Suite. The location was excellent.

The night manager that was on duty of the 22nd of Nov did not give us a drink in the residence bar. We were residence. It was only 1 o'clock. There was 8 of us which was part of a wedding party from the previous night. He was rude and totally unpleasant. After all the money we spent on Thursday and Friday in the hotel, and that was the treatment we received. Totally unexceptable for any hotel especially a 5 star hotel.

Beautiful castle building with well manicured grounds, cozy interior sitting areas with fireplaces, elegant, luxurious, huge room & bathroom. Free bikes to ride around the property & amazing full breakfast, anything you wanted, was included with my booking. The entire staff was amazing, caring & accommodating.

My initial room that they gave me was ADA compliant which I did not think that I booked. They told me that it was booked thru Booking.com? I do not need ADA compliant nor did I like the set-up of the room. The staff which was fantastic, eventually moved me to another room after about one hour because the room had to be cleaned and they were fully booked. That was the only drawback to my whole Lough Eske Castle experience & that was NOT the fault of the hotel.

The staff at reception and in the restaurants and pub were very friendly and always ready to help with our stay. The food was excellent. The breakfast the following morning was fantastic! The grounds and gardens around the castle are beautiful and well kept up. We enjoyed walking/cycling around the various trails and roads nearby. The public area inside the castle really does give one the feeling of being in a grand castle. Very well kept up, with wonderful paintings, furniture, photos in all the various rooms available to relax in.

Our room was not quite as nice as I was expecting. It seemed smaller, a little beat up in places, and did not have the view we were expecting. However it was a nice room and very comfortable.

Beautiful building set in lovely grounds. Pool and thermal suite were excellent. Really good breakfast. Staff were very friendly. Bed was very comfortable with really nice bedding. There was a kettle and coffee machine in the room. Bathrobes and slippers were also provided

We stayed in a courtyard room on the upper floor. The floorboards creaked really bad and quite loud creaking from above about 4 in the morning. It was hard to sleep. The bathroom was ok. The shower had a rainfall shower head and a separate hose shower. It would have been impossible to shower without getting your hair wet and the hose shower was so high I couldn’t reach it. Along the front door of the shower was mouldy and the sinks were just ok. Slats were missing on the blinds.

The staff were the friendliest, most engaged, happy, helpful and positive spirited I have ever experienced. From the moment I parked my car and was assisted to reception, to the moment we left there wasn’t a single member of staff who didn’t beam positive ‘can do’, ‘happy to help’ attitude. Whoever is recruiting, training and motivating the staff needs to be applauded. Higher star, higher end, more ‘exclusive’ establishments, of which I’ve been to many around the world, need to visit and take notes!

Downstairs bar was understaffed and never open to serve drinks whenever we tried. Given the hotel was near capacity over Christmas this was a glaring oversight.

unfortunately, the reservations manager, explained to me, they allocated all rooms booked through the hotel first, and then use the remaining for booking.com customers, I was given a room furthest away from reception.

The staff were excellent. The concierge service 5 stars The public areas cery special. The Xmas themed decorations were tasteful and pretty. The open fires and the library space!! For a luxury room ... I couldn't find the hairdryer. You need a little sign. The coffee machine didn't perform well. For a property of this calibre the bedroom to look exquisite. Luxury thread Cound bedding A throw and the bed to look inviting rather than just clean and neat. There should be a pillow menu. I've experienced and it really makes a huge difference to your sleep. I enjoyed the breakfast but my Mum didn't.

Reception very professional and friendly and and a special word of thanks to Michael who brought us to the room, and upon hearing I wanted to go across to the pool and spa the next morning, returned back to the room within minutes with an umbrella given the forecast for rain. He also checked the level of heating in the room to ensure our comfort. The courtyard room was a great size and exceptionally clean, with excellent bathroom facilities with the toilet having its own door within the bathroom affording more privacy. Double bathroom sinks and ESPA and Ritual toiletries provided and ample towels. Good coffee and tea making facilities, double portions of biscuits, many accessible plugs for charging. Very comfortable large bed, seating and storage with robes and slippers. Very good and friendly service in the Father Brown bar and again lovely helpful staff at breakfast with ordered food arriving quickly and hot!!

The downstairs Father Brown bar was a little colder compared with the more homely warm atmosphere in the other bar and the food took a little while to arrive, however the quality of the food was excellent. Food ordered at breakfast was very hot, the buffet breakfast extensive but if your preference is hot food on a hot plate, do order it.

The castle was beautiful as where the grounds

For a 5* hotel it lacked small touches like the bathroom in the bedroom had no toothpaste/brus, razor or nail file I have stayed in 4.* with better. Also my husbands meal the chips had obviously been cooked about 4 times inedible and the breakfast I would advise anyone staying to go for the a la carte as when you get your hot breakfast by the time you get your toast it’s cold

The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Gallery bar was great and the staff were so attentive. The whiskey tasting was fantastic.

One or two little shabby things, for example, broken blinds in the bedroom which we should maybe have mentioned but I think that should perhaps be the job of the room attendants. The Cedars restaurant felt more like a buffet Sunday carvery and not really very intimate for such the beautiful setting. I think perhaps because it was very big with a carpeted floor. Maybe a little modernisation and ambient lighting would help. Food was okay but 100% better in the Gallery bar.
