Helen and her family are nice, friendly and helpful people with great hospitality. The rooms were very clean. The breakfast was delicious and had various choices in the menu so every morning can start with a different taste. An Charraig Ban is found on a quiet, rural location between Ardara and Killybegs. In these two small towns you can go for shopping, dining etc. Several highlights of North West Ireland are within a 20 or 30 km.’s drive, such as Donegal and Donegal Castle, the Slieve League cliffs, the Assaranca waterfall, the Glengesh pass etc. Special recommendation : book a boat trip with Paddy in Teelin to see the spectacular coastline, including the Slieve League cliffs, from the ocean.
Add a (small) shelf in the shower cabin for placement of shampoo and shower gel, and two hooks (e.g. mounted on the bathroom door) for towels.

Lovely welcome from our host, Helen, who showed us to a clean and comfortable room. The view from the property was open countryside and it was very quiet there. The bathroom was spacious and well stocked with toiletries and fresh towels. There was a good selection of breakfast choices and we were served in a lovely well lit dining room.
The bathroom was exclusively for our use but was across a hallway with creaking floors and two noisy doors to get there … we were anxious about disturbing other guests and the family who lives upstairs in the house. The TV in the room wasn’t working and the WiFi was a bit patchy … maybe due to the countryside location.

I really enjoyed my stay at An Charraig Ban, its a beautiful house with a spacious room for storage and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was also a great size. The breakfast was lovely and the views looking out the bay window were spectacular. The hosts were very helpful and friendly especially with directions and their knowledge of the area. There is also plenty of parking at the property.

Top class. The B+B was very easy to find on the main Killybegs road outside Ardara but close enough to get a 10 euro taxi into Ardara in the evening for dinner at Nancy's and to enjoy music and pints at The corner House pub. Our room was large with ensuite with a spacious shower.. Immaculately clean. The TV and the tea/coffee facilities were also appreciated. The hosts Helen and Gerard were very welcoming and generous with local knowledge. Nearby attractions include the scenicTeelin pier, where you can take a boat trip on the Nuala Star to appreciate the majesty of the sliabh Liag cliffs from below. . We drove back to ardara via glencolmcille, taking in the stunning views of the Glengesh pass on route. On Sunday we visited the stunningly beautiful Maghera Strand and made a quick stop at Assaranca waterfall on the way. A great place to stay on the wild Atlantic way,
It was perfect for our needs

An Charraig Ban was convenient to Ardara for an evening meal. I'd recommend a visit to Assaranca Waterfall and a drive through the nearby Glengesh Pass (towards Ardara from Glencolumbkille direction). The host was very accommodating, the room was clean and well-equipped, and the continental breakfast was great. I'd happily return if travelling in that area again.
Nothing - I had everything I needed.

An Charraig saved the day. Last minute booking due to someone cancelling on us. Meeting the owners Helen and Gerrard was very nice. Very welcoming and willing to engage in conversation which is always nice. Location was lovely and peaceful and only a few miles from Killybegs. From there we were able to explore the high cliffs and Silver Strand beach. Absolutely stunning. On arriving back to the accommodation, feeling a bit tired, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a good nights sleep in a very comfortable firm bed. Breakfast was catered for and met our expectations. Thank you for a lovely stay. We hope to return again someday.

This gem of a place is in a great location — 5-minute drive to Ardara and 10 minutes to Killybegs. We probably managed to discover most of the southern part of County Donegal because An Charraig Ban is so centrally located. Helen and Gerard are great hosts. Helen thinks of everything to make your stay pleasant (even lets you pick a time for her lovely breakfast) and obviously cares about your experience. We loved chatting with them both. Our room had an en suite, which was perfect for us. The beds are comfy, the room is spacious, and having a full bathroom to ourselves was really convenient. Bonus: One of Helen and Gerard's sons, Ben, makes tweed items — as is a long-standing tradition in the area and in their family. We bought two beautiful scarves, so we'll have a regular reminder of our visit to beautiful County Donegal. We suggest you do the same.
No complaints here. Helen accommodated all of our requests.

Helen was a great host - and very responsive - breakfast was amazing. My daughter Talitha loved staying at An Charraig Ban and has been telling the rest of the family all about her trip. We also got good tips for dinner in Killybegs. Thank you so much Helen!
Nothing, all was perfect - and what we were looking for - thanks Helen!

Situated a 5 min drive from “The best village to live in Ireland” Ardara, this lovely family welcomed us into their home for one night with open arms. Take the glengesh pass down towards Glencolumcille and then make your way down towards Sliabh Liag and have lunch at the rusty mackerel. Top class. Bed was super comfy. We had biscuits, water and tea/coffee by the bed too. Everything was super clean (towels, bathroom etc). The breakfast on offer was great. We had granola, fresh fruit, wheaten toast, wholemeal toast, selection of cheeses, cold meats and cereals too. Leaving stuffed ahead of our hike up Errigal!

The hosts are lovely family, very welcoming, we were travelling around bad weather but both Helen and her husband made us feel home, location is handy to both Ardara town and Killybegs, nice clean room and great breakfast, highly recommended if you are up for nice Donegal experience.
