The friendliness, follow-up and follow from inception of reservation until check-out. The Inn had such a cozy and serene atmosphere. The Inn was perfectly stock with everything that you would need for your stay. The outdoor spaces are a delight. Such a great find with parking included. And, breakfast too!! Such an amazing value for your money.

Since it is a quaint Inn the stairs to reach the breakfast and amazing scenery was amazing. The stairs were only the small drawback I loved loved loved the place so much that I will come back. The friends that I will come back with are older. I can just get the breakfast for them. And, eat outside on the beautiful grounds.

We didn't get to try the breakfast. The price was right, the parking was excellent and the host was very helpful.

We loved our room and slept great except the room had a strange odor, almost cloying. It would fade after awhile but when you left and came back there it was.

Loved the location- so close to everything! Easy to walk around to all the spots we wanted to see! Close to lots of shops and restaurants! Breakfast was delicious and the room was beautiful and the bed so comfy and the towels so soft!

This bed and breakfast is simply amazing!!! Where do I start? The manager, Heidi, is a joy and so nice. She was lovely as she got us checked in and gave us a lot of great suggestions for things to do and where to eat. Similarly, Eileen, who makes breakfast in the morning, was also so nice! The staff really made this feel more like a home than a hotel. I absolutely loved chatting with them! The bed and breakfast is located in what is, in my opinion, a perfect area. It's just a bit out of the way of all the hustle and bustle of Thames Street, but walking there is a breeze. You can get to most of the bars and restaurants within 15 minutes. It's also located close to the mansions! The Elms is practically right outside the door, and The Breakers is only a 15 minute walk away. I loved the central location! The bed was so comfortable as well, and we really enjoyed sitting up in the conservatory after we returned, where Heidi leaves a bottle of wine for guests to enjoy after sunset.

As a note to people with mobility issues: the dining area for breakfast is located on the 3rd floor, and there are no elevators. This was no problem at all for me, but I just want to give a heads up to those who have trouble with stairs.

Artful Lodger has considered everything: light sensors provided in the common spaces; night lights; lots of hooks to hang clothing; little shelves near the bed for jewelry, phone, etc.; an oh-so-comfy king-sized bed; a couch that comfortably sat two; mirrors made the room appear larger and lighter; ability to use shades and drapes for light and dark;; quiet, a big plus for a reader. Parking is easy and much appreciated. Heidi was so welcoming and so pleasant, and we appreciate her help with our suitcases. Breakfast was delicious; we had to leave early and missed out on our last one, but Eileen offered to make us a package "to go," that we kindly refused but oh so appreciated. Location is terrific....so close to so much, yet, the residential location is a nice separation from everything. The view from the dining area is absolutely lovely and relaxing.

Truly, we have no complaints or recommendations.

For breakfast, I chose sausage, and was served half a sausage, sliced lengthwise. Very odd. What did they do with the other half? Also requested decaf coffee, and the breakfast lady acted put out by the request, forgot to make it, and only after a second request, finally brought decaf when we were finished breakfast. Decaf coffee isn't so unusual a request. Shouldn't have thrown her for a loop!

Mattress in the Ann room needs to be replaced. Many flights of stairs. Not recommended if you have mobility issues.

The room was pretty big. The bed was comfortable. There are enough parking places. The accommodation is close to the major attractions and restaurants.

The TV was relatively small, especially considering the distance from the bed, but since we only used it for about an hour in the evening, it wasn't a major issue for us. The breakfast was good in terms of quality, though the portion size could be slightly improved. We visited in May when the weather was unexpectedly cold, and unfortunately, the fireplace was not functional during our stay.

I absolutely loved my stay at The Artful Lodger Inn. The room was cozy, spotless, and very comfortable—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring Newport. The location couldn’t be better, just steps from the mansions and a short walk to downtown and the harbor. The breakfast was delicious served on the rooftop. This inn has a charming, homey feel that made my visit truly special. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Newport.

From booking, to arrival and communication and greetings from Heidi, we were all happy and satisfied with accommodations. Bonus: wine, cookies and popcorn on arrival in beautiful rooftop room overlooking the town and seaport.

Although I understand the economy, I did feel pressure to tip for services that were supposed to be included in cost. We only stayed one night less than 24hours. If it were a few nights, I think the tipping is warranted.

We stayed in the Estella Suite which was spacious and comfortable, including the bed. We were greeted by the extremely welcoming owner with chocolate chip cookies and wine upstairs in the Conservatory. Breakfasts were made to order and were served promptly. We have traveled a lot and have never experienced such a friendly owner/staff. Even the cook (Skyleen) was very friendly and helpful. I was on a special diet at the time and the owner quickly accommodated me. It was like a home away from home. We would not hesitate to rate this experience as "wonderful!"

We were very sad that, upon our departure for home, we were unable to locate Heidi to thank her for everything and wish her well.
