If you're visiting New Orleans and want to be near the French Quarter, Jackson Square, and all the city's top attractions, this is the perfect place to stay. The location is unbeatable—right on Decatur Street, making it easy to explore the vibrant heart of NOLA on foot while still having quick access to taxis or rideshares to reach other parts of the city. Despite being in a lively area, the moment you step inside, it feels like a peaceful retreat. The hotel’s charming courtyard is a hidden gem, offering a quiet and relaxing escape from the bustling streets. My room was just what I needed—quiet, and refreshingly cool, the perfect way to unwind after a long day of music, culture, and great food. The staff was friendly, helpful, and always ready to make my stay comfortable. As a solo traveler, safety was a top priority for me, and I felt completely at ease throughout my stay. It’s rare to find a place that offers both convenience and tranquility, but this one strikes the perfect balance. Whether you're here for the history, nightlife, or just to soak in the city’s incredible atmosphere, this hotel makes the experience even better. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay in New Orleans!

I was worried that the view was of a parking lot through a tiny window and there would be street noise, but actually it was amazing to see the sun rise over the Mississippi and see the Natchez come in and out of harbor. The room was dead quiet even on Friday and Saturday night when the city was going nuts. The bathroom is clean and nicer than a typical hotel. Love the courtyard. Love the 1700s charm. Beds were more comfortable than a typical hotel. Location is superlative, cannot be better.
Nitpicking, but the courtyard is generally used by smokers when I just want to relax with coffee and a pasty and not smell cigarettes.

The location is right across the Steamboat Natchez, you are 10 minutes on foot from each side of the French quarter. Absolutely perfect and far enough from the extremely loud busy part of the neighbourhood. Also, very close to tram stops and buses. Bathroom was spacious, I personally found the bed very comfortable. While you can't open the windows, the air-conditioned can be set from the room and worked perfectly. The staff was lovely. In particular, I was extremely lucky to check in with Deidra. Her presence in the hotel became a nice part of my staying in New Orleans. As a big extra: I loved staying in a place that has been an inn, historically, for two-hundred years.
The only not super positive aspect is that ONLY IF people in other rooms are extremely loud and unrestful, you can hear them. Happened to me with people playing extremely loud music until 3am (the hotel kindly offered me to change room). After those people left, I heard nothing in the following days.

The room was very clean. The bed was super comfy. The shower pressure was amazing. Everything was in perfect working order. And even tho we had a room facing the busy Decatur St, it was well sound proofed and we could barely hear even the loud calliope on the river boat just across from us.
It would have been nice to have a dresser or even the luggage racks for placing your suitcase on. We were able to hang up all of our clothes in the closet, but it would have been nice to have a place to put the suitcase for things that don't hang up like undergarments.

French Market Inn is located off the beaten path in the French Quarter. We loved the location-close to bus stops and within walking distance of many tourist spots. The bed was very comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep.
There was a faint noise in our room at night, possibly from the air system. We reported to the front desk that the restroom door needed lubrication and that there was some noise coming from the ceiling, but unfortunately, these issues were not resolved during our stay.

This hotel is situated in a street very close to famous French Quarter, that I walked everywhere but, it was also very quiet. Also, I felt quite secure as a female solo traveller. The personnel was great. Responsive and helpful. I stood in the petite queen room with a window, and it had all the things I needed. Room was beautifully decorated, the hotel had a lovely courtyard too. You could enjoy your book with a coffee there. Nice choice of soaps, I liked it. Confy bed. Highly recommended.
The reason it is not a 10 and 9: I think it is a safety issue due to the window structure of the building but I would like to have a window that could have been opened. The room I chose was with window and I had beautiful natural light, but it does not open. Now to be fair, unlike a previous bad experience, I never felt stuffed in the room, their air-conditioning system was great. But I just love fresh air.

The location in the French Quarter is perfect and the quaint NOLO style of the property with the courtyard made this a great stay for us. It has wonderful personality. Everything in the FQ is walkable yet it is very quiet from street noise. We asked to overlook the courtyard where we enjoyed an evening glass of wine . There is great ambiance with fountains and a pool but sometimes hard to find a spot away from smokers. We requested a refrigerator as rooms do not come with them. The room was large, clean, and the service was very friendly. We enjoyed the good coffee from the in-room machine, the bed was comfortable, and AC was quite proficient! This is a unique boutique type hotel with lots of history. It is not a luxury hotel if that is what you are looking for. We loved it. We will definitely stay again!
We would’ve enjoyed a sitting area in the room. The walls are quite thin between rooms and we heard others’ TVs going on all night. The bathroom is a little dated but this wasn’t a problem for us. Also I think rooms should always come with a refrigerator but they were happy to supply one by

Stay here. If you're visiting NOLA and want to be close to the French Qtr and Jackson Sq., etc., then you cannot beat The French Market Inn. Decatur is a main thoroughfare, but once inside, it's an oasis. The courtyard is wonderful and charming. The room as perfect - dark, quiet, cool - the perfect thing after a night of music, culture and fun. It's walkable to all the things you want in NOLA - and since Decatur is a main road, you can catch a taxi and easily get to other parts of the city without dealing with the crowds in the quarter. It sounds over the top, but this place is kind of perfect for all the things you want/need for your stay.
Nothing.

Superb location in the French Quarter, and reasonably quiet for such a busy area. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with good daily cleaning service. Staff is friendly and helpful. And if you're lucky, a second line might march by right in front of the hotel. Nice courtyard.
Occasional noise from the train line near the river front (also late at night).

The location is perfect, central, can get anywhere in a few minutes. The room was nice, the bed was huge and comfy. It was very difficult to sleep though. Walls are like paper. No sounds from the streets, but there was plenty of noise coming from the hallway, from the bathroom, pipes. From 4 am hearing people leaving rooms, shutting doors, sound of luggage, people talking. Also was coming in a lot of light from the hallway.
