This place is honestly a hidden gem. After the renovation, it offers clean, comfortable, kind of stylish rooms - no luxury, but solid. Trader Joe’s and cvs 2 blocks up for anything you’d need, and a great breakfast place just 3 doors down. Incredible value for money

Just be aware that the sketchy tenderloin starts a few blocks down - trick is to go east first a few blocks and then down towards market. Anything north, east and west of the hotel is totally fine (and btw, it’s not “unsafe” going down, just sketchy)

Really friendly staff in a beautiful building which felt very 'San Francisco'! Loved the old-school lift and decor and bed was really comfy. Great breakfast places nearby (highly recommend Farm:Table especially), lovely bathroom and great shower. Felt very at home!

The location was nearer the Tenderloin area than the name implies so the walk up from the train station was a little sketchier than I'd been expecting; not the fault of the hotel, of course, and I had zero problems with the local homeless community but I think a small heads-up would've prepared me better and might be useful for other solo travellers.

The hotel is very well located within walking distance of Union Square, Chinatown, Pier 33 and many more tourist places (if you are prepared to walk around). Bus stops nearby very easy and convenient to use. The room was comfortable for 4 of us plus luggage with fridge, coffee/tea machine, TV. Shower room was good and clean (took a bit of time to get hot water but not an issue for us). Wifi worked well. The entrance and elevator looks great. Staff was polite and room service was done when we asked for it.

Nothing to do with the hotel (so not their fault) but walking to Union Square (and around SF to be fair!) there are a lot of homeless and human faeces+urine on the street. Didn't feel unsafe either as most mind their own business but does make the area feel dirty.

Nice hotel, comfy bed, soft clean sheets and pillows & towels. Coffee machine with free coffee in lobby, but on the last day (3 nights stay) the coffee machine was not working and wasn't fixed the whole day. Complimentary breakfast was surprise, thank you. The people on drugs on the street make the whole town so messy, and the feeling of beautifull town is gone like the smoke (not the fault of the hotel).

Super thin walls, I literally heard when the curtain in the next room was pulled up/down. The fridge in the room wasn't working, wasn't fixed. But the staff was nice and put my cheese in their fridge in lobby. Restroom in the lobby/fitness area had dirty floor.

The guys at the front desk should be dressed better as the decor is so cool, they look a bit shabby I’m afraid to say. But they offered great service with a smile.

Location was quite good. There are a lot of comments on here about how sketchy the area is but we had zero problems the whole time. The room was a perfect size and great for people travelling who just need a nice secure place to sleep after a long day of activities. Staff are super friendly and accommodating and allowed for us to do bag storage. Location is right next to a lovely cafe and down the the street from a Trader Joes which was very convent for us

Honestly the only issue we had was if we tried to shower right in the morning the hot water would not really kick in for a good 10-15 minutes. It is an old building so would be expected - we didn’t complain about it either so I am sure if we did the staff would have helped us out but it wasn’t a huge issue for us overall.

We booked a room with a desk so I could work but when we got to our room we didn’t have one. The guy on the front desk was very helpful by sourcing one from another room for me. The bed was comfortable, shower was good and the WiFi was strong. Fresh water and coffee provided daily in reception. We felt it was good value for money.

As others have said, there are quite a lot of homeless people in the area. However, they keep themselves to themselves and did not impact our stay. The lift broke down once while we were there but it was fixed quickly.

Very spacious and a great area. Very comfy bed, great decor, very nice bathroom. Lots of storage space. Has a nice restaurant downstairs. Welcoming staff who are knowledgeable. They list food places close by, and it’s really easy to walk everywhere. But there’s also buses/cable cars. The guy at the front desk helped me figure out how to get a clipper card so I could ride transport. Awesome staff.

Was kinda cold and it took me a minute to realise there was a portable heater in the closet. Easy to figure it out when that was found. Plug in the bathtub didn’t work very well but that was fine.

Rooms and bathroom are very clean. I liked the green bathroom walls, very stylish. Location is o.k. Although there is nothing too exciting within a 2-3 block radius, Union Square is only a 15min walk. Although there a few homeless on neighboring streets, I felt very save when walking back to the hotel at night.

I got woken up at 6am from garbage trucks and high-pressure water sidewalk cleaning. May be a set of soundproof windows could help dampen the noise a bit. A TV with options to stream my own content from my phone would be nice, but not a must. Traditional TV channels are out of style.

Perfect for a solo traveler. The hotel is fairly small and has a pizza restaurant on site (didn't actually dine there). The rooms are small, but the bed was comfortable and if you're out all day, you don't need a huge room anyway. Facilities wise, there was an iron and ironing board, safe, toiletries, coffee making etc. There is a bar at the end of the block, and a cafe at the other end of the block. A little up the road is a Plant based cafe which has a sizeable menu offering. You can catch buses form two blocks away, and the cable car stop isn't too far up the hill.
