The room and staff were attentive and responsive. We had an issue that was addressed immediately. THE LOCATION IS THE THING! It is at the gates of Chinatown, a lovely French resturant is attached to the hotel. An Irish pub is next door, and another intimate French restaurant Le Parc is around the corner. There are Belgium chocolates and and Fomagerie in walking distance. In the other direction is Union Square and lots of large with small high-end and lower-end shopping available. I stay here when in the city. Very European in feel and design but in San Francisco.

All of the staff were very kind and friendly. From the housekeeper to the handyman repair a room on the 5th floor; everyone was pleasant. Malina (forgive me because I think I am spelling her name wrong) is a gem! The breakfast was fulfilling, the wine a nice treat, and the restaurant right next door was delicious! The bed was super comfortable and the room is cozy. The water dispenser was a nice treat. We will definitely be coming back with some friends!!!

The hotel did not feel like there was AC running in the entrance area, but the AC in the room was nice. We could hear the noise from the bar near by; however, we just turned on the TV to help us fall asleep. A simple fix. The room AC was set to 86 degrees upon our arrival; however, within an hour from us changing the temperature on a hot day it started to feel perfect.

Love the option to skip daily housekeeping - would the hotel consider a discount in that case? Very quiet - only heard upstairs neighbour stomping around a little bit. We loved being downtown & so close to a couple of good convenience stores, 4 kinds of transit, & restaurants & an amazing fabric store. Wonderfully quiet fridge! Staff very cheerful & personable.

Headboard squeaked; that is a minor consideration, tho'. Could have used a microwave in the room. Really this is one of the best stays I've ever had. Price could always be sweetened...

Great location, excelent staff (except for postcard-sending-gate, see below), I liked the carafe and water cooler on the 6th floor, cool fountain outside. Bike friendly and also free snakes and alcohol!

I asked the front desk if they would sell me some stamps for a couple of postcards and they said they would mail them for me. I agreed and then found that they charged me $8 to send two postcards! Much more than two postcards worth of postage!

This is a wonderful location, and the rooms are very clean. The staff are OUTSTANDING. They are so helpful. It is literally at the gates of China Town, and they have free wine every afternoon. The parking garage is only a block away and easy to get in and out. When I stayed on the 6th floor on a Friday night, it was so silent, I didn't hear any doors open or close. It was so great to be able to sleep in.

The rooms are a little small, but when traveling alone, it isn't a big deal.

The young lady on reception was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was in a good position, 5 minutes from Union Square, right by Chinatown and about 15/20 minutes to get to the start of the piers, and another 10 minutes to walk along to Pier 39. The happy hour in the afternoon was a nice touch, it was good to relax with a drink after a day of sightseeing, and chat to the other residents. There are a couple of restaurants attached to the hotel, and we ate a couple of times in the Irish Bank pub just around the corner.

We couldn't fault the hotel. There are a number of closed shops around, and a fair number of homeless people in the city which we had read about before travelling, so were prepared. We didn't feel unsafe, but tended to stay local in the evening, eating in the Irish Bank pub.

Located in the city center right next to Chinatown, this hotel is the perfect starting point for exploring the city. Lots of restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There was also a happy hour in the lobby from 4-6 with complementary drinks!

The Wifi was a little complicated to access and did not work on an older phone. The windows only open about 2 inches and there is no ventilation or fans in the bathroom.

- Friendly and helpful staff at the reception - Stable wifi working flawlessly in my room - Good first impression in the lobby ;-) - The small things: the key-cards for the rooms have cool photos and even cooler descriptions - Greeted with a small can of free beer - arrived during a happy hour

- Room a bit darker than expected (one not too big window) - The bathtub-shower combo didn't seem too easy to keep clean - neither by me, nor by the staff - The breakfast is all sweet: muffins, bagels, jam, croissants, juice. That's it. After a day or two you may want to look for something else.

Great location for BART & muni. Really friendly staff and reception, who was kind enough to let us check in early instead of just dropping our bags because I filled in the pre-check-in form. Beautiful room decor and I like that the window can be cracked open for fresh air.

Nothing! I noticed that some people had trouble using the toaster in the morning for breakfast, so maybe a useful little handout or visual sign for the buttons might be helpful, esp for non english speakers
