The location was great for Union Square, right by Powell Street Station and very close to cable cars, and trams stops. The room had 2 x large beds and they were the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. There was coffee making facilities in the bedroom which was great. And a constant supply of coffee in the bar / reception area foc..
Not the hotels fault, but the only downside was the homeless located on the street right outside 24/7. Although they were harmless and we felt safe walking past. The hotel was well secured so we were not worried.

An overnight stay before flying home from SFO so can only really review check-in and room as I didn't use anything else. I paid about $136 I think and for the price really good value for San Francisco. Location was great - have stayed nearby previously and as long as you stick to Mason/Market St side of town it's pretty good. Walk too far in the wrong direction you can end up in the 'less safe for tourists' part of town so check before wandering. Hotel is indeed Bijou - small and cute. Few details reflective of price, eg chipped or broken lighting, no views, small room. But lots of good towels (ladies or people with long hair will understand this is often an issue!), comfy bed, clean, decent shower pressure. Staff were great. I would definitely return for a couple of nights.

In the week we stayed here the hotel has grown on me. The staff were excellent and inspiring people and I enjoyed talking to them. Jimmy and Chris are even about to publish a book! I also enjoyed the complimentary coffee available at all times. Hotel Bijou has a flair, it has a character. The design is following a single style, and is well done. There are homeless in the neighborhood and although they are loud sometimes, I kept the windows open at night to better connect with the city. It’s all about the attitude. Hotel automatically provided ear plugs in the rooms should the noise be a problem. Very thoughtful.

Location is great - close to Union Sq and Shopping district. Super friendly staff….helpful and happy to help. There is always someone at the desk for security and assistance.
We didn’t enjoy the homeless people virtually at door step - but this isn’t the hotels fault by any means and more a systemic social issue affecting the greater US. The hotel staff seem to have a good relationship with the homeless. Please don’t let this turn you away from the hotel - the Hilton is basically next door as well as other major hotel chain on adjacent blocks - never once did we feel uneasy by them.

Great location for us - close to bus, tram, metro, train station. Some good cafe/restaurants within easy walking distance - Cafe Mason for a great breakfast - Cafe Central for lunch sandwiches or salads. Subway/ burger king also close by and Panda express in Westfield food mall. Hotel staff exceptional, could not do enough for us - helped with travel plans around the city, booked us taxies and printed our boarding passeses. Held bags when arrived far too early for check-in and we left a bag securely whilst we went on cruise, returning 10 days later, which really helped us. Good shower, comfortable bed/room. . Would certainly return for another trip.
Lots of homelessness in area - although we experienced no problems - just not good to see. Unfortunately no restaurant at location. Continental breakfast a bit monotonous, yogurt, apple, muffins available each day - better than nothing at all though!!

The staff was very accommodating. We wanted to check out later than 11am and they didn't hesitate to let me and my Fiancé check out an hour after our intended check out. Kunal, I assume the manager of the hotel, even let us stay in the lobby as our bus only leaves at 10.40pm. He allowed us to use the hotel locker even after we checked out so that we can still go around San Francisco without the hassle of bringing along our luggage. An unexpected great experience with this hotel. The most accommodating hotel I've been to so far. Excellent service!

The hotel was very clean and aesthetic and staff were super friendly. The location is in tenderloin which we were warned about, however the hotel is on the border of it. If you cross the street towards market you're good, just don't turn right towards tenderloin or walk at night. We used uber all the time so had no issues with running into the sketchy area/people.
The area is noisy but it comes and goes at night. There was no AC and we were supplied with a tower fan which was informed but it did get hotter than the fan can help at times.

The location of the place was a half a mile from where we were going which made it great. I enjoyed the older style building.
The location is smack in the middle of downtown area so there are ALOT of homeless people right outside the building which keeps it busy with people outside literally all night. The property does provide earplugs.

Location was excellent
When got to hotel ,it said full bar and restaurant which no longer is in use. Breakfast included in price of hotel and only an apple and muffin is all thats available. Very musleading as the price of hotel was on higher end which was disappointing. Lots of homeless surrpunding the hotel and music blaring and shouting outside all night. Sirens blaring also.

I LOVE the decor and the staff were PHENOMENAL. I hope a restaurant moves in and doesn’t change a THING about the current restaurant decor… it is so gorgeous. And yes, there’s a sketchy street nearby but what do you expect about staying in the tenderloin district? They keep it very safe and secure. It was cozy for February!
