Rene at the front desk was fantastic! From her warm and informative welcome to troubleshooting when I needed it she was outstanding. The location was perfect for proximity to the historic Pioneertown set, shops, Pappy & Harriet's, and local sightseeing that included Joshua Tree. The bed was super comfortable, as was the bedding and pillows. I loved the local liquid hand soap and body lotion. It was quiet and I slept well. I also enjoyed the canteen that had fresh brewed complimentary coffee, tea and water. It was a particular pleasure to grab a warm cup of coffee and watch the spectacular sunrises that only the desert can offer.
I was ok without this...but don't come here to watch your tv shows and do what you do at home. There is no TV in the room. It is a real throwback to another time and I found accepting that invitation left me so recharged. I did have internet in the room and was able to do what was necessary that way.

We had a great two-night stay at Pioneertown Motel. The rooms have been thoughtfully renovated and decorated but have remained nicely in keeping with its old-world, pioneer charm. If a famous actor / actress once stayed regularly in your room, the lovely staff will let you know. Modern bathroom, nice size, great products. Temperatures dropped to freezing during the night when we were there but the heating in the room kept us toasty warm. Enjoy the starry night sky just outside your door, and hot chocolate in the common area. Don't miss the merch at reception for souvenirs.
Everything was great.

This a weird, amazing place that really must be experienced. In some ways it’s glamping; in other ways it’s staying at a rustic inn with perks. We liked that we could walk to the Red Dog Saloon for margs and dinner; we liked we were close to Joshua Tree. When we were there the temperature had dropped and wind picked up so sitting outside in the hammocks was not possible. Hands down the bed and the pillows were the best. Over our trip we stayed in 4 other hotels before the Pioneertown, and none had the combo of excellent bed and excellent pillows like this place. We slept like a dream.
It was dusty - this was due to the wind but the property is rustic. This means that the door does shut flush. The cement floor is cold. Things creak in the night. The property is close to the music venue, and if the band is loud, you will hear it. If folks come home a little drunk, you will hear that too. We felt like the music stopped early enough and our neighbors quieted within the “quiet hours” time. Once we went to sleep we heard little.

We drove a long way to attend a wonderful concert at Pappy & Harriet’s on 26 March 2025. The motel is an easy walk from the venue. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a nice hot shower and cool tile floor. There were board games and a guitar in the room. No TV, but WiFi for our mobile devices. Really good coffee in the canteen room in the morning.
We had brought some food with us and there was no way to warm it up, other than bothering the motel staff to use their lunchroom microwave. We decided to eat it cold and that was fine.

This charming property is located conveniently enough to the Joshua Tree National Park but is an attraction in its own right. It is a pioneer village as its name implies so dust is always going to be a problem but it is easy enough to live with. Tom was extremely helpful to us especially as I had booked the wrong date and my wife ha a touch of flu.
There is nothing more that could have been done to improve the conditions and still maintain its character.

A slice out of a western movie for sure. Rustic and not overdone. A broken bedside lightbulb was immediately and cheerfully replaced.
No coffee or hot water available in canteen, maybe a new hot water cooker and then all would be fine! Breakfast was not available locally until 10am but many options in 29 Palms.

Absolutely beautiful room which had the most comfortable bed that I have ever slept in. The motel was right in Pioneer town and next to Pappy and Harriet's and the member of staff that checked us in was very pleasant and helpful. The room is like that of a boutique hotel. It is basic in that there is no TV, microwave, coffee machine or breakfast included but that said it is still a great place to stay and the simplicity adds to it's charm. There are seats to put outside for stargazing and hammocks outside to lay in. There is also a room where you can make yourself tea, coffee or hot chocolate. It is simply beautiful.

It has so much history and is so peaceful. Everything is made to bring you peace and comfort and an immersive experience with the environment. Perfect place to stay if you’re seeing a show. I may go back by myself at some point to just do some writing. Note this is not a tv watching hotel—it’s rustic with history and a great staff. It’s a vibe :)
Water pressure was a little lacking but that’s about it.

The staff (Renee) was phenomenal -- very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The environment was great with fun amenities, from Pappy and Harriet's, to the outside fireplace, to the little craft/boutique shop, to the comfy chairs to take outside and stargaze.
The walls between rooms are thin, and unfortunately we had one neighbor couple who fought a lot, and another neighbor who liked talking on the phone at 7:30am on a Saturday.

Loved the theme. The room was super clean, well decorated, and comfortable. The soap/lotion smelled amazing (we bought some), and the coffee in the morning was exceptional (way better quality than standard hotel coffee).
Our only complaint was that our toilet stopped working properly (not able to flush). The woman came by and thought she fixed it, but when we came back from dinner it wasn't working again, and there was no one to help. We used the common restroom in the morning, but she should have offered us a different room or ensured the toilet was fixed properly the night before. There were also a lot of large mosquitos that got into our room when we went to dinner (doors and windows were closed).
