I really enjoyed the breakfast which had many options available from fresh fruits to breads, yogurt, coffee and tea and more. I also loved the rooms which had a kitchen and bathroom en suite. The activities that the hostel had planned for us daily were so fun and fostered a sense of community which is desperately needed in this time. The location is prime right on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, the Pantages theater and many attractions.

- So as an introverted traveler I opted for the private room, better choose. I can't adapt to a hostel with a shared room and I found this one at an affordable price and even better, a private room. - The room was very cozy, the bed was comfortable, it had a fan and heater. - The location is a little further away from the Walk of Fame, but about 10 minutes away, you can normally walk to the subway and convenience stores in minutes. - I arrived before check in and I was able to leave my suitcase in a room at no cost. - All the people I saw in the hostel were very good vibes. - I saw some reviews about there being a lot of homeless people outside of the hostel, yes, this could become something bad, but really, none of them messed with me or tried to talk to me, So it didn't bother me, but I'm Brazilian, so that could be why I didn't have any problems with that. :) - A tip: my room was on the second floor, during my stay, I arrived at night after spending the day at Universal Studios, and there was a party with very loud music, and it was already more than 11 pm, but when I entered my room, I didn't hear nothing else, so if you like parties and don't mind noise it won't be a problem for you, but if you're like me, I advise you to ask to stay on the second floor :)
- When I checked in, I went to the room and the maid was cleaning the room, I asked her just to confirm if the room would be available in a few minutes and she didn't speak a word of English, which became a little complicated, because of communication and the fact that my room wasn't ready, and I checked in at the time the hotel requested, I had to wait about 10 minutes, it didn't take long, but after a tiring plane ride, those minutes can be annoying. The only problem that I had, so is that hotels always require tourists to respect check-in and check-out times, I think it's worth the hostel paying attention to this.

Room: The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly spacious for a hostel. The beds were cozy, and the linens provided were fresh and crisp. I appreciated the attention to detail in terms of cleanliness, as the room was spotless upon my arrival. The presence of a safe in the room offered an extra layer of security for my belongings, which was a thoughtful addition. Overall, the room provided a pleasant and comfortable environment for a good night's sleep. Location: One of the highlights of Banana Bungalow Hollywood is undoubtedly its fantastic location. Situated in the heart of Hollywood, the hostel is within walking distance of many popular attractions, including the Hollywood Walk of Fame, TCL Chinese Theatre, and the Hollywood Bowl. I must admit though that we were very happy about the gate and protected entrance to the Hotel, as the homeless situation in LA is scary. We saw many "unpleasant" situations and persons in the immediate surroundings of the hotel. Breakfast: The complimentary breakfast provided at Banana Bungalow Hollywood was a delightful way to start each day. The breakfast spread offered a variety of options, including cereals, bread, pastries, fresh fruits, and a selection of hot beverages. We particularly enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with fellow travelers in the common dining area while enjoying a hearty breakfast.
Overall, my stay at Banana Bungalow Hollywood was pleasant, with comfortable accommodations and a convenient location. However, it's worth noting that homelessness and safety concerns are present in the surrounding area. By staying informed and taking necessary precautions, visitors can still have a rewarding experience in this dynamic city.

I stayed 2 nights in a basic double room and 2 nights in a deluxe double room at the Banana Bungalow Hollywood Hotel. The location is convenient. It is close to the Hollywood/Vine metro station that can take you to Union station or West Hollywood. The basic room had everything that I required. The deluxe room added a kitchen and more space. The breakfast was basic, but still good. Overall, I have nothing to really complain about.
Nothing negative jumps out. The hotel/hostel is geared towards socializing, so there is music throughout the day and parties in the weekend. This never really disturbed me, but was also not what I was looking for.

Staff is really friendly and cool. There are programs each day of the week. The breakfast is quite good. (Strongest brewed coffee I had in the States.)
Parking space is limited, first come first served. We had a spot, so good for us. I didnt like the continous music, but this is a hostel so I understood the rules:) The homeless situation is terrible in Hollywood, there are some tents close to the gate. But the hotel is super safe!!

Good value! I stayed in a private room, and the bathroom floor space was more ample than I'd have imagined. A shower was installed, no bathtub, so that was ideal for me but might not be for others. Satellite TV channels available in room. Cheap snacks and drinks available at the vending machines. Weekly night activities in the courtyard
There was a multi-tent camp propped up on the city sidewalk right there on Hollywood Blvd, just west of the hotel entrance and across the street too (heading further toward attractions on Hollywood). A food bank is across the street from hotel, so people are camped out close by. I felt unsafe to walk by these camps as a female solo traveler. There's nothing that the hotel can control, but just telling it like it is so other travelers can be aware

Room was nice and clean! Staff was also very friendly and accommodating. The location was very good overall and super close to everything Hollywood has to offer.
The only thing I didn’t like was the view from our room because it was of a homeless camp shortly down the road. The fact that the homeless camp was so close was a little scary at night, BUT that being said I did feel very safe once inside the hotel since there is a code and it’s gated and being able to park inside the gate was very convenient and safe feeling too.

Credit where its due: affordability, free breakfast daily, no prepayment needed and its convenience towards landmarks and other venues. Not to mention that there are weekly Thursday Hollywood sign group tour hikes! Forgot his name but treat this as a shoutout (bonus) as he was the reason why I much more effortlessly than before, making it to the very top behind the Sign for the first time in my life!
If I was to give at least one Downside: maybe the lack of available wall sockets or extension cords for shared room top bunk bed users as my room even had an extension cord with one of the metal tips bent to the point where it cant fit inside a socket. The wall socket next to the room door even had low quality where an adapter looks like it was about to fall out on its own. Not to mention that there were no power outlets under the seating area in the kitchen. Lastly, i think the bunk beds to be a bit higher to suit taller guys sleeping on the bottom. The ceiling lights on MY side of the room werent working at the time in 210, just wanted to point it out

Absolutely AMAZING spot. Perfect location to get anywhere, and staff were amazing. Love KiKi’s food and entertainment AND the same guy looks after the free breakfast! We were inspired by his positivity and he made us feel so well cared for. We felt very accommodated and looked after, made new friends and genuinely would come back any time. I honestly cannot recommend this place more. Fantastic. Strongly reccomend the private rooms, it’s everything you need right in Hollywood with a perfect old school Hollywood vibe.
Not a thing. If I’m being hyper critical, being in Hollywood Blvd you are gonna see some homeless camps on the streets outside, but generally nobody ever bothered us, and they were polite and we didn’t feel unsafe. Good amenities and food nearby but you won’t need to worry on the nights the food is on (tues, thurs and sats during our stay) as we were well looked after for both meat eaters and vegans. Parking is a little tight but it’s a 1930s motel so again, it’s part of the experience. Reccomend the private spaces so you can come and go without worrying about other cars in the way.

The free breakfast is available daily until 10:30am The location was perfect for attending the pride parade as the stage was only 2 blocks away. The rooms aren't huge but big enough and mine had a kitchen which was very convenient. The staff are great <3
The top bunk is very high and the ladder isn't great. Depending on who you're roomed with it can be a very pleasant or very sleep depriving experience or in my case, both. A lot of weird men stay at hostels (not exclusive to this one) but beware young female solo travellers! Boundaries will be your best friend.
