Great location- 10 minute walk from the rail station, 10 minute walk to the Minister, opposite one of the entrances to the gardens. Staff very friendly and helpful.
A bit on the pricey side for a room only, as breakfast was not included but probably to be expected as so close to the city.

Great staff, lovely rooms. I really enjoyed the walk into town in daylight. Lovely quiet area. 10 mins walk from station. I felt very safe in the property as a solo female traveller
I thought it was odd that no complimentary water was provided though lots of paid mini bar options. There is a Sainsbury’s nearby. Some of the pillows were a bit lumpy and a better mattress topper would have been appreciated but I still slept well. Walking to and from town centre in the dark was not well lit with shorter routes along the river so I opted for an uber back after meeting friends for dinner.

The room was very comfortable. This hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the inner city of York. During the day a pleasant walk through the Museum Gardens takes you through to the centre. Otherwise walking along by the river or along Marygate on to Bootham is the other options to the city centre. Either way 15 minutes or so. The Hotel is 15-20 minutes walk from the railway station, no problem for myself. A breakfast could be ordered. Whether I missed it or not on the web pages I did not realise that breakfast would be delivered to the room. I prefer having my breakfast in a dining room.
As mentioned above not having a dining room for breakfast is a minus for me.

A quiet, quirky property directly opposite the museum’s beautiful gardens. Perfectly placed for exploring York. Our room was perfect for our needs - very clean and comfortable with every facility you would expect. The ensuite bathroom (walk in shower) was great too. We chose not to breakfast there (continental to be ordered the night before) or use the extremely well stocked mini-bar, but this was no reflection on Jorvik House; just our personal choice. Every staff member we met was cheerful and friendly. When we couldn’t work out how to boost the heating, (on a cold night), we were helped immediately to put it right. Nothing was too much trouble. We would have no hesitation in staying at Jorvik House again.
The only, very minor, thing was the lighting in the room (we were in the ground floor) - fine if you were by the bed lamps but a bit dark if you wanted to read something elsewhere in the room. It wouldn’t prevent us from staying again though.

Our room was downstairs, it was a fairly quiet area. And the view from the window was lovely. As we were facing the gardens. Which is another positive, because we could walk through the gardens unless it was past 6pm. But then we would walk along the river Ouse, which is only like 3 minutes down the road. The room we stayed in was beautiful. We had everything we needed. And if we ever needed anything, the staff were very helpful and would do what it takes to help. You could have housekeeping each morning of you wanted , we chose not to. We could have also had breakfast each or any morning but we chose not to, because there were so many places we wanted to go in the city centre for food. And shopping of course. Reception printed off some recommendations of where to go for food, or drinks. It gave a list of restaurants, cafés and bars. Which was very nice of them. On the last day we had to leave our room by 11am. So we did. But our train wasn’t until 2pm. And the lady at reception offered to keep our bags until we needed to collect them, the train station was only at least a 10 minute walk. Depending on how fast you walk. On that note. Before our stay at Jorvik house, they gave me a call and told me about a shortcut we can walk through from the station to the hotel. Which again, was very helpful.
As much as it was really cool having a smart Tv (it had Disney+ and Netflix) the Wi-Fi wouldn’t connect to the Tv. So we couldn’t actually access any apps. And we couldn’t access certain channels or any radio stations at all. The bed was comfortable, don’t get me wrong, but the mattress wasn’t the best. It was a little too solid. Now, the mini bar says it’s included in the property… it didn’t mention however , that you have to pay for things individually. They leave a clipboard in there of the prices and what they are. They did have some good stuff in there I’ll give them that.

Location was great, it was fairly quiet too. Room was nice, small bathroom but adequate and clean. There was also shower gel, shampoo and hand-wash.
Just probably more personal preference but I didn't feel the bed was too comfortable. Again personal preference. The duvet cover was ripped and the duvet itself didn't look very pleasant. Just something small, I obviously wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't ripped. We were only there for a couple of nights so it was fine. I didn't feel in my opinion the price reflected what we got. The car park behind is extortionate ÂŁ25 a day! Sad really as the businesses have no control over this.

Lovely old house with a great location right next to the Museum Gardens. Bed was very comfy. Mini bar was a nice extra though we didn't use it. I was expecting the decor to be more viking themed given the site pictures, which I liked the thought of, but our room was decorated with Moomin pictures which didn't have the same vibe. Staff were lovely and the house was nice and quiet throughout our stay. There's no kitchen on-site but there were plenty of cafes on the other side of the gardens and staff offered to order breakfast in for us if needed.
The bathroom was nice and clean and modern, but some fixtures like toilet roll holders were loose. The shower was nice and hot but it was difficult to switch heads - this required us to turn the knob with a towel mid-shower, with difficulty. Not a huge problem but a bit annoying. Unfortunately there was building work behind the house which was noisy but not anyone's fault. The TV wouldn't connect to the internet, had poor reception and didn't swing out from the wall so was a bit difficult to watch from where the bed was. Luckily we weren't too bothered as we were out most of the few days we visited.

Excellent location on a quiet street adjacent to the museum gardens. Very good room size with free standing bath and very good shower. Very good tea/ coffee facilities with biscuits and sweeties available in the room and at reception. Good standard of decor and other in room facilities.
Throughout our stay the Wi-Fi was very poor. Staff tried to help by providing access to the separate hotel admin Wi-Fi but that was also very intermittent. We were advised that the situation was unusual… The main issue that we had though was the slamming of doors to other rooms. Easy adjustment to door closers would prevent this. It’s an old building but a little disconcerting that some walls had damp penetration. For the price we paid we feel that breakfast should be included.

The staff at the hotel went above and beyond, they were so kind and welcoming. When discussing plans for York, the gentleman had even provided us with a map and gave his recommendations on where to visit which was very helpful! The room was beautiful and well decorated and the location to the city centre was wonderful
The room was labelled as a luxury double however I am not sure if that is accurate or what the “double” rooms looked like in comparison. It was very warm, and we struggled to cool the room at one point as the windows did not open very well. The mini bar was a great touch, however I felt the prices were a little too steep. I think if they had been a little more reasonable, we would have used this feature.
