We had an amazing time in Cornish Arms – we stayed just for one night as part of our hiking trip, but we wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was helpful and very nice and friendly; our room was lovely, very clean, and well-equipped, and the food we had was absolutely great! Both the dinner we had in the evening and the breakfast were amazing. We don't remember when we enjoyed a meal so much. Thank you!
It's absolutely understandable that rooms need to be cleaned – and that this needs to be done asap. But since the check-out is at 11am (and breakfast is served until 10am), we felt that it was rather unnecessary that staff started cleaning rooms around us quite loudly around 8 am. We didn't want to sleep until very late anyway (8.30), but this woke us up even earlier, and it made the morning feel rushed as there was a vacuum cleaner in front of our room since 9am, etc. But this is just a minor thing, really; we had a great time anyway!

Comfortable, lovely staff, excellent food, Also ate in sister pub a few miles away, pub prices but standard way above your usual pub food. We shall definitely stay again as it’s good value
Shower door narrow in Toad room, Pheasant room noisy as on front of hotel. Would have liked to eat in hotel more than 1 night but their meals are Michelin standard so not light meals. We would have preferred a choice of bread not just sourdough at breakfast, also personally none of us we weren’t keen on the bacon but that’s because we prefer a very lean meat. Minor personal choice problems!!

Friendly, helpful staff and a generally nice room with a couple of small bits that needed fixing. I didn't have dinner in the pub but I can see why it is 2nd on a top 50 list of UK Gastro pubs. My breakfast was stunningly good with excellent ingredients and equally good service.
Minor niggles with the bathroom in that The blinds didn't raise evenly and then wouldn't stay open so that it was darker than I would have liked. The shower head was also leaking due to a missing washer but I know that the staff were planning to correct it as soon as I checked out.

It’s a property with a huge amount of character. Each room has its own theme and is unique. Facilities within the room were superb and they even provided fresh milk for tea and coffee. It felt like the place had recently been decorated as everything was fresh, but in keeping with the property. Unfortunately, I didn’t book a meal for the evening, but if I stay again, I definitely will, but breakfast was wonderful. We are already planning to visit again and would love to stay in the main suite as it looks amazing.
I have nothing I can add to this as the property was so good.

The room was decorated to a very high standard. Excellent shower, breakfast was of a very high standard. Loads of space to park. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location to explore Dartmoor.
There were no tea bags in the room when we arrived, we had to ask for more toilet roll because there was only one in the room, the room was very warm, for the price we paid I would expect a fan in the room as there was no air conditioning. It was difficult to keep the window open because we were on the street and the cars kept us awake.

The bedroom itself was very clean and well equipped (tea, coffee machine, hairdryer etc) ; the bed was lovely…king size…but this tended to dominate the room, so there wasn’t much space around it. I noticed for example that a ‘fridge’ was promised but that in fact there would have been nowhere to put it. Also, only one chair. Bathroom was good except for one detail (see below). The staff throughout were excellent. Our host at breakfast was friendly and attentive without being too intrusive. The bar and restaurant staff were all extremely helpful and efficient. The food, both breakfast and dinner, was excellent. Lots of local produce beautifully cooked and very much recommended. Car parking was good and this always helps. Very centrally positioned hotel….easy to nip in and out of the town in the course of the day.
I have to mention one detail : previous guests had already commented on a ‘wobbly’ cold tap in the bathroom and yet….it was still wobbly! I find it surprising that this hadn’t been fixed, when everything else in the hotel was efficient and carefully managed. Oh well…….

Food was excellent, and breakfast was prepared fresh each morning, the staff were very attentive and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. The place was very clean throughout the three days of our stay. Our room was serviced each morning while at breakfast and without asking. The property is well maintained in and out giving a real sense of attention to detail for a small accommodation provider. Something often lacking in larger establishments
Pillows were very soft, had to use a cushion under them for support.

We expected a cosy accommodation in city B&B (pub),....and found so much more. A great place with very attentive and friendly staff. The room was very nice and stylish and the bed super comfy. Also worth mentioning is the bathroom which was rather spacious. Twice we had dinner at the hotel (ie. at the pub) and it truly was a fantastic and delicious experience. We can absolutely recommend this hotel and would stay there again should we come back to Tavistock.
The only thing that could be improved, if any, is the wifi connection in the room.

It’s a beautiful old property decorated to a high standard with themed rooms. Gorgeous amenities, sumptuous soft furnishings and a homely, rustic style. Staff were amazing; friendly, helpful and genuinely happy to speak with guests, showing real interest and remembering individual’s orders, as well as, remembering details of our days. Absolutely faultless
I cannot think of anything.

The bedroom and bathroom were clean and well equipped. The condition of the whole building, despite being old, was excellent. The staff were all very helpful. Location is perfect for Tavistock with parking at the rear of the building.
Both the evening meal and breakfast toast were based on sourdough bread. Luckily brioche roll was found. The evening meal was very good but like most restaurants the choice of pudding for lactose or dairy intolerant guests is very limited. But this did not spoil our stay.
