Lovely hotel with excellent , very friendly and hardworking staff. The hotel is loch side, which is beautiful and accessible but it is not possible to walk around the loch very far. As you would expect there are plenty of midges both by the loch and in the wooded area to the back of the hotel, however the hotel even provides some insect repellent by the door if you forget yours. Beautiful setting but it is quite remote, about 7-10 miles at least on ( good quality) single track to hotel Staff all superb, food very good and a good price for the quality. We stayed in a suite room which was immaculate and very comfortable. We also took our dog, who was made extremely welcome and was very well catered for, with dog towels by the door(very handy after twice daily swims in loch). There was also water, treats and balls/toys for dogs at the door too, I would suggest tic treatments for your dog before you go and tic removers just incase.
We do like to go for a walk after dinner or out for dinner on an evening, however, this was restricted here for us due to the remoteness of the hotel. We therefore stayed out later through the day and ate at the hotel on the three nights of our stay. Although the food and service was excellent this might not suit everyone.

Our room was beautiful, roomy and had all the comforts: Incredible view of the loch, robe/slippers, iron/board, complimentary water and some delicious house-made cookies! We were only able to stay one night, and I would definitely add several more days to this stay in the future. The restaurant had views of the Loch, the bar was well stocked and there are many accommodations if traveling with your canines (balls, toys, towels to dry them off if they get wet by frolicking in the loch or just from rain). They have small blankets/wraps to sit outside on cold days. The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in Dr. Johnson's Room.
We loved that the hotel was remote, however, if you are planning on traveling to and from Oban using this hotel as a base, just be cautioned that it is a 30-minute drive from Oban along some one lane roads. Be careful driving on rural roads in the UK. Also, there are only a few other places to eat in the area. We just ate at the hotel and the food was good, but if you are looking for other options only a few to choose from in the immediate area and not within walking distance.

The Hotel is a lot larger than I thought it would be with a number of cosy sitting rooms where you can sit and relax and see the surrounding countryside and wildlife. Our room ( Fyne)was huge and had a lovely bathroom and great views down the Loch. The cosy bar , manned by Sandy was welcoming and had a good choice of beers and Whiskeys and also served bar snacks . We ate in the Brasserie on our first night and enjoyed a good choice of local fair, Cullen skink, Home cured gravalax, Venison Stovie and smoked salmon on a pearl barley risotto. Couldn't manage a dessert. On the second night we booked for the 9 course tasting menu which at ÂŁ65.00 a head was an absolute bargain, It was delicious and its served in a private dining room, very cosy and intimate a perfect treat for you and your partner. All in all we had a fantastic stay and will certainly be back. Thank you Michelle and all of the Staff
Breakfast although plentiful and a good choice is expensive at ÂŁ17.95 a head so when you book make sure its included in your deal

Cannot stress just how much we enjoyed our stay here, it was fantastic. It is a hidden gem of a place, secluded and SO quiet and peaceful. The food was excellent (congrats to the whole kitchen team for the gorgeous taster menu!🩷) it is quirky and cosy but still spacious enough that you can always find somewhere secluded both inside and out. Without doubt the building could do with some money spent in it (come on the investors!! Speculate to accumulate, and you will!) And the main reason other than it’s a perfect wee bolthole? The staff, they are tremendous. Michelle, Lisa, Sandy and the whole team are next level in this business. They made the stay so memorable by just being so friendly, knowledgable and welcoming so bravo all. Now the next high praise is for its dog friendliness, out of this world!! Not like some places that purport to be but in fact place so many restrictions, Taychreggan is truly dog friendly and all the pooches there showed how much they appreciated it by being so well behaved. We cannot wait to book out next trip there and plan to make it a regular occurrence but I say again to the investors and owners, the place is functioning mostly on the goodwill of your staff, there are lots of improvements that could make this a true gem in Scotland’s hospitality crown, and you’d be mad not to do them. Loved it 👏

Despite having seen the photos and having read the reviews of other customers, I was amazed at the beauty of the whole place when I got there. The hotel is located in a wonderful spot by the shores of Loch Awe, yet the first impression of elegance and beauty you get is outmatched by the interior of the hotel and the professional and caring staff. Rooms are awesome and totally comfortable, while the halls of the hotel include dining rooms, a lounge bar and halls with sofa and boardgames, complete with a billiard hall. Just few meters outside the hotel a beautiful spot is set by the lake, with armchairs and brazers, a fairy garden with fairy dwellings overlooks the area and a private pier awaits curious customers over a lovely ironwrought archway covered in ivy. To put it in few words, this is a place you cannot miss if you plan to enjoy your time in the Argyll area. In my opinion, this is the perfect place to live an unforgettable experience.
Absolutely nothing. Everything was perfect.

It would be hard to find a more peaceful and tranquil setting. Lots of cosy wee nooks to relax in. Plus charming courtyards and loch-side tables and chairs outside. Great food. The hotel obviously has a talented chef. The chef went to some trouble to accommodate my wife's strong dislike of garlic and onions. Friendly staff. Lovely fresh shortbread in our room each day. A very nice touch.
More craft bears in the bar would be good. Other than the midges, I can't think of anything in particular.

It was our second time staying at Taychreggan and we loved it even more this time around. The hotel is absolutely stunning; beautiful decor, rooms, garden; everything is gorgeous. The staff are super welcoming and friendly and can’t do enough for you! They are also really inclusive of dogs and gave us a choice of room as we had two with us, so the manager allowed us to view both rooms and see which we felt was more suitable for us which was lovely. The additions of dog towels, treats and toys is also such a lovely touch. The food is out of this world; it is absolutely delicious! They have a good choice of dishes on the menu so definitely something to suit everyone. The room itself was beautifully clean, as well as the entire hotel! You can tell the team take a lot of pride in Taychcreggan and it really shows. It is probably our favourite hotel to stay in in Scotland and we will forever recommend it to others.
Absolutely nothing - both times we have stayed here it has been delightful. We cannot fault a thing.

The road in is not for the faint of heart - it is 10 miles of single track for the most part, up and down, twists and turns. But it is totally worth it. Taychreggan is gorgeous, in the most gorgeous location ever. It is super pet friendly. It is location directly on the loch an surrounded by hills and mountains. I wanted to stay there forever. The food, in their AA rosette-awarded restaurant, is superb. They have a separate bar with fireplace and several lounges, all with stunning views. The location is quiet and serene. The staff is great, and kudos to Ivan, who assisted us with our auto's flat tire and with the rental car staff; he told them off, saying it was totally their fault as the tires were bald and should never have been rented like that!
That I had to leave!

Exceptional place in a simply stunning location. Admittedly we lucked out timing-wise - very good (almost freakishly good) weather made our stay all the more enjoyable; felt like we were in the Med as we sipped beers looking out across the flat calm of Loch Awe. But even in more typical Scottish weather, this hotel's incredible setting makes it somewhere truly stand-out. The fact that the staff (a great team), rooms, facilities and food are also more than up to scratch ensure this place is nothing short of a real gem in the wilds of picture-perfect Argyll. Assuming they maintain such high standards - and I have no reason to believe they won't - Taychreggans is truly somewhere to be treasured.

Beautiful building , sympathetic decor, in truly tranquil surroundings. Old fashioned comfort, good food, attentive, friendly staff. We had a spacious room with double aspect windows and everything we needed. The bar and lounges were welcoming and furnished with tasteful, extremely comfortable sofas and chairs. The loch view from the restaurant was stunning- and could be enjoyed from every table.A unique little gem of a hotel !
It seems churlish to mention but the bedroom needs updating ( NOT the bed, which was very comfortable). The staff were marvellous, but seemed very busy indeed, each performing a range of tasks , seemingly both day and night. A case of understaffing, perhaps? And parts of the building are in need of refurbishment- not areas which affected our comfort, but it is such a beautiful building it deserves some TLC!
