Very convenient location for travel from ferry. Food in restaurant was very good. Service was also very attentive and effective. Bedroom and bathroom both very clean and we'll presented even though small. The pub itself has lots of character. Coffee machine in room worked well for us.
Room was smallest I've ever stayed in. Very cramped for 2 people with luggage. This was made worse by the number of cushions and additional pillows laid over the bed. Food and wine prices are a little high. Wine was served at almost room temperatures which is not good for a white pinot grigio. We rescued it with a little ice though until the cooler kicked in.

We liked the rooms with Victorian decor, panelling and radiators.Very comfortable beds, clean linen, clean modern ensuite. They provided dinner in the room as we were arriving late after the kitchen closed alone with drinking water. Very kind and courteous staff. Meals are delicious.
A twin room that was booked was out of commission but they replaced it with a double room. The car park would benefit from a bright movement sensor light as once you switch off your car lights it is difficult to see as it is pitch dark outside.

We went to visit Highclare castle It is literally 10 min drive 25 min walk The property is a pub and B&B the price is excellent for such a good position to visit many places. Room 107 was comfortable and ensuite was fine with excellent shower. We had a meal there on Sunday evening (7TH) And despite it being busy, food was fine and arrived quicker than we thought it would. I have to mention Amy who despite being really busy made sure we had everything we needed, and has a wonderful sense of humour . Would definitely stay the again .

Beautiful building in a lovely location, just a walk away from Highclere Castle, where I wanted to visit. Staff were exceptionally helpful and looked after my luggage, pre check in so that I could go to the castle. Food was delicious, a great breakfast, 😋 included in my nightly rate. Room was beautifully presented, comfortable and stocked.
Nothing😃. Iln terms of location, you had to get a taxi if you hadn't come in a car. Not on a public transport route

Great location, very well presented with plenty of free parking outside. We had a lovely evening meal and breakfast was great. Our bedroom was clean and well appointed with very comfortable beds and an attractive bathroom.
The temperature of the shower was quite sporadic, swinging from scalding hot to cool without is adjusting the temperature gauge. Whilst this didn’t cause us any problems , it could have been challenging for people of limited mobility (ours was an accessible bedroom)

This was my 2nd visit in 3 years. I chose The Carnarvon Arms as it’s in a great location to visit Highclere Castle. I enjoyed my first visit and had no hesitation in staying again. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant are smart with comfortable chairs with a cosy atmosphere. The food is delicious. However, one area that does need some attention and hadn’t changed from 3 years ago is the tidiness and look of the exterior and interior paintwork on doors, skirting boards etc. The paintwork on the windows is peeling off in great chunks in a lot of areas, which is a shame as a lot of effort has gone in to the beautiful flowers and hanging baskets.
As written above

The email before arrival asking if the hotel could be of assistance in any way. Check in was swift and the rooms are named after race horses. Dinner was excellent and breakfast was excellent too. A cooked or continental breakfast was available and the bread was delicious. All of the staff were friendly and helpful.
The shower was a bit tight getting into and out of. It could be doing with updating; the step down from the shower tray was quite high. Otherwise the room was comfortable, clean and had a nice selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolate.

The Staff were so friendly & welcoming, nothing is too much trouble for them, Carnarvon Arms is a fab place, full of character and serves delicious food, with cosy surroundings. We stayed a couple of nights & the beds were divine, the comfiest thing I've slept on in a long time.
Our room looked out onto a brick wall, which is ok but the Fire Exit was next to our room window & people were using it and could look right into our bedroom. This was only during the day and actually made us laugh. You wouldn't want to get caught with your pants down, would you 😂

Stylish traditional pub with extension for a dozen bedrooms. Comfy bed, great bed linen, small well-equipped bathroom, decent shower. Nice range of teas, coffee machine, homemade cookie a sweet touch in every sense. Excellent breakfast served quickly and pleasantly in lofty dining room - request for cappucino (not on menu) met with real grace. And it was very good.
I don't know why you'd choose to paint a fairly dark room in varying shades of greeny greigy brown - it has a lowering effect on both the ceiling and the spirits... And what I hadn't realised was that the A34 (a busy road) was just on the other side of the garden wall. Our window looked onto it - a number of the rooms do face the other way - I wished I'd known this top tip before booking as quiet really matters.

Visiting Highclere Castle so stayed for 1 night . On arrival early evening our room was so cosy and welcoming , the room was lit with side lights instead of going into a dark room(nice little touch) We ate in the bar, again it was warm and cosy and the Christmas tree being up made it look all the nicer . We had a starter and main course ,very generous portions and everything was piping hot, big portions, and delicious . Staff very attentive .
Couldn’t fault anything
