The staff were very friendly and approachable. I'm very old now, and I found everyone very kind and anxious to help me in any way they could. I can so longer manage a large breakast, so I appreciated the 'help yourself' continental breakfast which was included in the price.
My only problem was with the shower (every hotel seems to have a different type!) The 'flow' knob worked properly, controlling the force/pressure, but the temperature knob had no control, so the water was scaldingly hot whether turned left or right. Oddly, the bath tap would dispense only cold water, so in the end I had a bath by using the very hot shower spray to fill the bath, mixed with cold from the tap.

It was situated in a lovely village. Very picturesque. I was staying on Christmas Eve so it was pretty quiet. The room was clean, comfortable, secure and warm and the staff were very polite and friendly. Incredibly powerful shower, fab English breakfast served promptly at 7am and fast and fuss-free check in and out. Recommended.
Nothing specific. It seemed like somewhere very smart that has faded a bit, but it was very good value and perfectly fit for purpose. My window was cracked and the security bond was broken but the inner window closed properly and it was a cold night so I didn’t need to open the windows.

We really liked this hotel. It has the feel of an old mansion under new care. An impressive winding stair and portraits on the walls add to the mood. Room was large, clean and well furnished. Staff very helpful. Large bed. Quiet at night. Could hear an owl in the grounds. Breakfast buffet good. Clearly the present team are working hard to make this a successful hotel and I intend to use it again. I suspect it will soon increase its number of stars.
It will be good when the restauarant is open for dinner again (but plenty of good pubs nearby with food). Some signs of ongoing restoration but not inconvenient. Roadworks outside made access more difficult than it should be but clearly not the hotel's fault.

Room was quite big and was clean. Had everything you needed in it (soaps, tea, coffee and biscuits) and we liked that it had a bath and a shower. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. Staff were friendly and helpful. We paid £59 for the night with breakfast, so overall we had a nice stay. Just a few things let it down.
Breakfast... was disappointing. Not a lot of choice for continental (only 2 cereals and toast) and the cooked food I ordered looked quite sad, I got 1 sausage in my sandwich! Hot food was table service on this day, which we didn't mind but I expect a full sandwich. Also, I personally think breakfast finishing at 9am is a bit early. Room was a bit dated and could do with some maintenance in some areas (shower curtain, grout and paint in hall ceiling.)

I loved every inch of the property. The hotel is set in lovely grounds near a river bank. It has such charm with it's period features. As I am someone who loves older buildings with history this was perfect for me. It is located in a lovely quiet village, not a lot to do but a shop within walking distance and plenty of restaurants/pubs. Ideal for a quiet get away. For me it was ideal as my husband was on a training course near by so we needed somewhere with free parking and free wifi. Really enjoyed my stay as I spent most of the two days in the hotel doing my online business work. It wasn't too busy so felt as though I had the place to myself. We were put into the bridal suite which overlooked the beautiful grounds, zero traffic noise! Looking back at previous reviews many say how it is falling apart and needs updating, which I agree with the updating part, just little attention to detail jobs that need doing but, it is an old building with charm, to upgrade it too modern would ruin it! One thing that does need upgrading is the mattress, we rolled into the middle a lot and the bed made a noise each time we moved but, we found it funny and part of the charm. Breakfast was beautiful, just enough and service with a smile. I think I have fallen in love with the property, if I had a lottery win I would love to invest in the property and restore the beautiful staircase, windows and grounds, it felt so homely and safe. Very pleasant staff doing the best they can with what they have to work with. Would love to come back again!
There wasn't anything we didn't not like about the hotel just a shame that there is a modern vending machine and a modern computer system in the reception but not money spent on the period, charming features.

Very friendly welcoming staff to both myself and my pet. The room was situated on the ground floor making it accessible with a pet. Nice spacious bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, which had plenty of shelving for toiletries. Good facilities for my pet, supplying a pet bed (too small for my dog but made good pillow) and a dog bowl. Nice grounds for my pet to be exercised. I took continental breakfast as the cooked breakfast could not be accommodated before 8am.
Shower taps were very stiff to turn.

Large rooms and very comfortable stay. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with a river flowing nearby that is accessible from the property's grounds. Yet not far from the city. Everything was perfect.
They stop serving breakfast at 9 AM although the check-out time is 11 AM. I wish the breakfast window were a bit wider. Also, the postcode takes you to the parking lot of the village hall nearby rather than the hotel itself, which can be really confusing. That's not the hotel's fault though, but something to be aware of.

An absolute treat in the heart of the countryside. The place was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, making it a comfortable and cozy retreat. The surrounding gardens were stunning, perfect for a morning walk. The staff were warm and attentive, making sure everything was perfect. Breakfast was freshly prepared with a great selection of hot and cold items. The location was peaceful yet conveniently close to nearby attractions. Would highly recommend!
