We loved our stay at the Dorset for 3 days & two nights! Friendly staff, that were very helpful. The lady that we met on arrival, (I think her name was Anna.) was very lovely and made us feel welcome! It's a lovely place and so close everything! We came here to have some quality mother and daughter time, a mini getaway. Breakfast was nice. We were geeted with tea, coffee, biscuits and a bottles of waters in the room. Our room was clean, small but cosy for two people! We came from Brighton, and the bus stop was a few minutes walk from The Dorset pub. We were in walking distance of the Depot and able to go and see nice movie. We were walking distance to a swimming pool for an afternoon swim. We were surrounded by lots of lovely pubs and restaurants. Beautiful river walks! We were close by to Lewes castle, which we thoroughly enjoyed exploring. After venturing out for the days, we enjoyed some drinks in the garden watching the sun set! We will definitely be returning. Thank you from Elaine & Shelley.

Continental breakfast was plentiful and varied . Friendly helpful bar staff . We arrived before 4.00pm and the room was ready for us and we didn't have to vacate it until 11.00am so no rushing around in the morning .
Only 1 small criticism of the room was that the bathroom wall mirror was so far away from the wash basin it was difficult to see to shave or do make up ( room 3 ) . It was a shame the hotel did not have some guest parking spaces ( had to use pay & display car park nearby ) but we were aware of that before we booked .

We had a warm welcome from the cheerful, efficient manager. The room was perfectly suited to our needs. We very much enjoyed the meal . This allowed us to escape a wet evening outside. The Dorset is well maintained and nicely painted. We like the idea of using Sussex celebs to name the rooms. Breakfast was nicely served and substantial. We did not need to eat outside whatever the temptations of Bill's. The staff were friendly and hard-working.
There were some small breakages in our room 'Thomas Paine': a missing hook, a shower head and so on. A maintenance man could mend these in ten minutes and it would improve the room.

We were met with a very friendly and welcoming reception, I had asked for an early check in as we were going to a wedding and this was accommodated for, room was light and airy, bathroom good, water in the bedroom which is always appreciated and an easy to use coffee machine. We don't live too far away but if ever I need an overnight stay in Lewes I would not hesitate to use or recommend the Dorset as I feel it was very good value for money.
It's a very small issue but would have like to have been told breakfast was going to be help yourself cereals, toast and fruit and nothing cooked, as I woke up thinking a cooked breakfast would be lovely! but of course that does require extra staff and expense so I do understand.

Location is great, staff are friendly and helpful. Best beer in the town :-)
The room had an extra bed in it, don't remember that being listed when we booked it. No hair dryer in the room, the mirror in the bathroom was too far away to do makeup. There is a mirror in the room, but only two working light bulbs - made it a little bit hard to see anything. Very thin duvet on the bed. The batteries in the remote need replacing. The toaster in the breakfast room might need to be looked at too - was ok the first two mornings, although quite squeaky, on the third morning it burnt the bread on one side.

Good value for money. The room was spacious, had lots of nice touches like bottled water, biscuits, lavazza coffee pods, nice smelling shower gel and shampoo. The room had everything you could need. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed the breakfast (muffins, pastries, cereals, yogurts, fruit, toast, juice and hot drinks). They had a fan in the room and you could turn the radiators up or down as needed.
We had room three which seemed to be above toilets as the hand dryer went off a lot underneath. This was fine for us as we were out all evening but bear in mind if you are hoping to get an early night! It is a pub at the end of the day! Although they have a big covered area outside for smokers, throughout the afternoon the room really started to smell of cigarettes. Due to the pub having a roadside entrance, people still must have been nipping out to smoke under our room. We just had to close the window and adjust the heating temperature. You canât control where people smoke so not the pubs fault! The shower also had a constant drip but I just put the shower head on the shower tray so we couldnât hear it trickle.

All the staff at The Dorset were friendly and helpful. Check-in was simple and quick - we were shown to our room immediately even though the pub was very busy. Parking was close by and plentiful and the location was perfect within easy walking distance to everything in the town. We had a tasty (and huge!) fish and chip lunch in the pub and a simple but satisfying breakfast in the dining room. We slept well despite the rather elderly bed and the sloping floor of this wonderful, historic building! Oh and the shower was great; hot and powerful. Thank you to all the staff for a pleasant stay in this lovely pub!
Initially our room was rather chilly. It warmed up later on when the central heating came on. The room was a little tired- looking, fixtures were rather cheap and cheerful, but completely adequate for a night's stay.

Friendly staff and atmosphere, small hotel in that there are only a few guests. This means that there's not a lot of movement in the corridors which contributes to the relaxed atmosphere. Very good in room facilities with a quality coffee machine that uses capsules (provided). Great unlimited breakfast included.
Not being able to stay longer on this trip. Would love to stay a few days and explore Lewes and also spend an evening or two in the Dorset pub.

We were delighted with our stay! The pub is in a quiet location near to the Cuilfail tunnel which made getting out to our concert in Brighton very easy. The room is as described, small but very comfortable with everything provided and spotlessly clean. And lovely to have a window you can open! A good continental breakfast too all made this excellent value for money and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
