The location was perfect for what we needed. The room was clean and bed comfortable. Lovely soft towels. We ate in the restaurant, food very good and we were lucky to be there for Curry night. Every member of staff that we met were friendly and professional, a credit to the hotel. We loved the breakfast. Thank you

The shower in our room had a high step up into it. We are fit and agile but still found that a bit daunting especially when stepping out of the shower. The shower control was difficult to adjust the temperature and could be so easily caught during your shower which would either make the water cold or scalding hot. The shower temperature also took ages to heat up initially. We did mention this on check out. Hopefully this will be looked at.

A good hotel in the middle of a small English village. The rooms were in the back of the tavern in an extension building. Our room faced the parking lot at the back of the hotel. The room was big enough and the shower was good. The breakfast was exceptional. From the hotel, you can stroll through the village or walk through the fields. Make sure you bring your wellies if you want to do so in winter.

Not much to dislike. The rooms were a tad rundown, but that did not interfere with our stay and also amply compensated by the price (in comparison to similar places). Overall, this was excellent value for money and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Generally the room was basic and somewhat old-fashioned, but that just added to its charm. Most importantly it was very clean and very comfortable, nothing was missing (coffee, tea, water were provided, all bathroom items were provided, the mattress was super comfortable) and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast which was included was absolutely top notch and a great start to a very long day so much appreciated indeed! All in all a perfect stay for one night and I’m sure even better for a few days exploring.

A bit ramshackle, but that was expected and could be seen in the pictures AND it totally added to its charm.

The food overall was extremely well cooked and presented. Even at busy times, service was in good time. The menu didn't change during our stay but there was sufficient if not a great amount of choice. The room was very clean. On a purely personal level, we prefer sheets and blankets to duvets as we find duvets are invariably too hot (particularly in hotels). However, there were no blankets available. The staff were without exception extremely pleasant, helpful and hard-working.

The water took a very long time to heat up, particularly first thing in the morning, and so a lot of water was wasted. I understand that it may well have a distance to go from the boiler but perhaps a sign in the bathroom telling customers about this would help. The wifi kept dropping out - doubtless those working would be using mobile data but it was rather annoying for me. As mentioned, a blanket or two would have made our sleeping much more comfortable. However, overall these are minor matters and the staff did all they could to help.

Lovely hotel in a lovely location. Ample free parking is available at the back of the hotel. On line check in was easy. The room was lovely and spacious. The hotel is old, but rooms have a lovely modern twist. Free tea and coffee in the room. A fan is available in the room which was very welcoming. The hot water in the bathroom/ shower took a while to come through. We needed to turn on all taps first (sounded like there was an air lock) After about 5mins the water came through lovely and hot. Free toiletries available. Breakfast was lovely. Freshly prepared. Breakfast was from 07.00 when we were there which was welcoming. Lenham is a really pretty place. I would highly recommend staying here.

We have stayed in The dog & bear Hotel several times now and we have always enjoyed staying there. Everything is always perfectly in order, the rooms as well as the restaurant. A gluten free diet is no problem for the cook, which we appreciate very much. When we recently stayed in the hotel we arrived very late at night due to unforeseen circumstances and that was no problem either. The personnel is always friendly. We travel to the UK twice a year and hope to stay in the Dog & Bear more often.

The Pub was very nice and just what we needed traveling with the Dog and children. The check-in was easy and all the staff were exceptionally helpful. A special shout out to Layla who was incredibly helpful and arranged a breakfast bag for the kids as we had to leave at 6 for the ferry. The food was very good and there was a dog-friendly table area so even Duke was happy with the pub. Can't recommend the place enough - and say hi to Layla when you visit.

The Spitfire ale ran out just as I ordered ;). But the Shephard Neam RED was brilliant instead!

The room was excellent and had it own little outside area so perfect for the doggies. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant - reception, bar staff, restaurant. Good parking facilities at rear of hotel.

The wifi was very disappointing in todays world. I was unable to even get a signal in our room except occasionally and very poor strength. Must be said that even the mobile network reception was poor in our room. Both were OK in the rest of the hotel but for bedtime browsing before sleeping - no chance.

Bed was comfortable, room was dark, shower was hot.. Complimentary shortbread was an unexpected but pleasing welcome (free shortbread always a winner!!). Not too much to choose from on the menu in the restaurant, but the food we ordered was really good and at the expected price point. Breakfast was very good. Parking was a little tight to get into the remaining bays when I arrived, but not too onerous if you are competent at manoeuvring and reversing a vehicle. Local late co-op opposite for room snacks, chip shop opposite I know also does good food.

The hotel was spotlessly clean and all the staff were really nice and could not do enough for us. The room was on the ground floor and our car was parked right outside our window in the car park. With my husband reliant on a walking frame access was easy and the wet room in our ground floor accommodation was a big bonus. We enjoyed breakfast and an evening meal during our stay and the food was amazing. The whole property was filled with character…. And very comfortable.

Everything….. will definitely return and cannot recommend it highly enough.
