Evening meals were tasty and wholesome.
The full breakfast was a let down. Bacon was under cooked, sausage was square sausage which wasn’t mentioned on the menu. I included beans and these were poured over the bacon and sausage. The staff member who greeted us in the morning always said “is it a table for two?” It would have been so much nicer if you had been welcomed with a cheerful good morning. They were very efficient but you can also be pleasant!

We really liked the location and the unique atmosphere of the hotel. Swimming pool was an added bonus and the sauna was excellent. The family room was really spacious.
We are a family of 3. My son is only 12 years old but very tall to his age. He found the sofa bed very uncomfortable. I tried it too and was not nice to sleep on it. The room size is big another bed would fit easily. As a 4 star hotel we were not satisfied with the food. Breakfast was all right but nothing special and using the normal dinner plate to look like it was full, just a trick. Portions were actually rather small. We had the soup of the day for lunch and it was very watery, lacking flavour. We had dinner 2x. I have chicken and pork on the other night with the same type of garnish actually. Again as a 4 star hotel I would expect something better.

Fantastic location in a superb historical setting. Reception staff were great, reception/lounge area really nice with grand piano and spiral stairs to dining area, very tastefully decorated. Bedroom was fabulous - very spacious and well fitted out, ensuite likewise. Gorgeous looking pool and spa area - unfortunately, not enough time to sample it! Evening meal was excellent - more than ample portion size and very tasty!
Bedroom heating had a glitch so we were a bit chilly - reported to staff who were very apologetic, so no doubt that will be sorted. Breakfast seemed a little hurried and rather average - pity really, as it detracted from what would have been an excellent stay. Another little thing - a bottle of water in the bedroom would have been nice.

The room was spacious, bed comfortable, location amazing, breakfast and dinner tasty and most importantly staff are professional, efficient, friendly and always helpful. We spent a wonderful anniversary weekend at this hotel. There is a visitor centre, nature walks to waterfalls from the hotel, the restaurant has a nice selection of Scottish fayre at dinner time and breakfast, there was a pianist in the bar on Saturday evening, Lanark is one mile away with amenities and it's well situated for exploring Scotland. Edinburgh is an hour's drive, so are the Kelpies and Falkirk. Glasgow isn't far away either. Didn't use the spa facilities or the swimming pool. Honestly can't think of anything negative to say.

From the outset, everything was first Class.💜 All requests facilitated. 💜 Myself and two friends were there to celebrate a Special Birthday, and Housekeeping laid out flowers, gifts, balloons etc. as requested.💜 Staff very accommodating, friendly, helpful and cheerful.💜 Reception Staff are an absolute joy and a credit to the Hotel.💜 Hotel very clean, rooms very comfortable, leisure facilities top notch and food delicious. Compliments to the Chef and waiting staff. We had an excellent time and will definitely be back.
Honestly, I have absolutely no complaints.💜 10/10.💜

Breakfast was okay, first morning, potato scones were well burnt, second morning it was sausage turn to be overcooked and bacon was cold, certainly not cooked to order, more likely lying in a dish and put on plate when they get your order Staff were great first morning, not so much second morning We had dinner on second evening, staff were okay, but could do better, ask if everything is alright etc, meals were nice Rooms were big enough, beds are very comfortable, but old windows do rattle when windy and the radiator isn't hot enough to completely dispel the cold that seeps through them
There is a 15 percent discount on a few things, like the Annie Macleod experience, but no one tells you, we only found out when my daughter saw it on display in reception. Burnt potato scones, overcooked square sausage and cold bacon Swimming pool can get rather busy at certain times

This hotel and area is absolutely fabulous. So much history to view. The views are spectacular. Spent hours viewing area and the history. Hotel looks anazing. Resturant was lovely so were all staff. Just a pity about the availability of some items on menu but was quite busy. Breakfast had so much to choose from and cooked breakfast was fresh/hot. Didnt use other facilities but looked very inviting. Bed & pillows in room 24 level 6 were not comfy, this needs to be properly addressed imho, as sort of spoiled our stay. Niamh was so sympathetic and understanding, also went over and above in resolving this issue 🙂 thank you so much again. We will be back though 😉😀. I would recommend no problem atall.
Bed & Pillows were not comfortable. Everything else was amazing.

The area was delightful, with a family friendly waterfall walk on the doorstep. The hotel is set within a heritage site which was very picturesque. The room was spacious with a direct view of the river from the window. There was a mini fridge which was great to keep my little one still, and a good supply of tea and coffee. The beds were so comfy! We used the pool / sauna / steam room which were lovely and easy to access. And the food was great. Would definitely return and recommend to others.
The majority of staff were wonderful - the lady on reception, the spa staff and the gentleman who came to clean our room were all cheery and polite. My children and I did unfortunately come across two meme era of staff who were not so lovely, ignoring my daughter when she said hello, scowling at us and generally ill Mannered. Would possibly benefit from a few more choices on the children’s menu, but the pasta that my daughter chose was nice and good portion

Large comfortable and well appointed room Hotel was warm though the weather was freezing Bathroom large with large , soft towels Car parking easy at front of hotel Excellent breakfast with efficient and cheery staff
Menu at dinner did not accurately reflect the dish, i.e. roast vegetables were identical to seasonal vegetables. Instead of accepting the point the waiter insisted they were roasted. Advertised price on booking.com, the hotel and other sites at the time of visit was more than £100 less for the 3 nights than I had booked on booking.com 6 weeks in advance. It was too late to cancel my booking by then. Customer Service have still not replied to my messages about this.

We had a great dinner when we arrived at 5 pm. Our first real meal in Scotland! We ordered lamb and Duck Breast both wonderful. We had a cheese selection and chocolate pot for dessert. We also loved their breakfast selection the next morning. The coffee was good. We appreciated the concierge for getting us a taxi for the train station.
We were surprised by the high walled tub in the shower, it made getting in and out of the shower a little dangerous. There was no bath at or sticky decals on the curved bottom and no handrails in case you slipped, just an FYI suggestion.
