Had a really lovely 2 night stay. Room was really lovely with a fabulous bathroom, and the whole hotel felt really warm and welcoming. Gorgeous beer garden, and drinks were really reasonable with good selections. Great breakfast too!

The only thing that was a little crazy is that it was a warm (very warm on day of arrival) few days, and the heating was on in some places. Even though I had pointed it out twice to different staff,on the morning I checked out, it was blasting out again. Think this heat rising contributed to needing a fan on all night on night 1!! Sure this can be resolved and certainly wouldn't stop me coming back

We stayed on the 8th May. The room was amazing, the decoration was also very in Vogue. The TV was the biggest I've seen in a hotel room! Our server for our evening meal was very attentive and informative, and would like to pass on our thanks. Unfortunately we didn't get his name!

There was a problem in the morning of the next day, which meant it was turned off at 9am! Luckily it didn't affect us too much as we had an early start. So maybe we should have been informed of this happening the night before and not at breakfast on that morning. We were personally told after breakfast in our room but that was too late really. However we would not hesitate to book the Hotel again.

The hotel was in a perfect location for the train station as we were in and out London during our stay. The room was a really good size, clean with drink making facilities and a selection of hot drinks to choose from. There was also basic handwashing and showering toiletries. All the staff, both in the hotel and restaurant were polite and happy to help. The food in the restaurant/pub was lovely and very reasonably priced. The lamb shank shepherds pie was exceptional! Really great vibe and would definitely recommend.

Very minor, there was only one pillow per person on the bed but it wasn’t a major problem and I know that if we’d asked, we could have got more.

Our room ( always stay in Room 22 ) our favourite, lovely shower, huge bath if you fancy a lovely soak, after a day site seeing in London.The restaurant meals are lovely to, never had bad meal there.

The only down side is there is not enough staff on at breakfast.The restaurant manager ( chap dressed in black shirt ) run ragged !!! Poor chap, kept saying sorry for waiting long for the breakfast ( which when did come was lovely ) We love this place so come on chaps put a couple of extra staff on at breakfast time please.All your staff are a credit to you but at times they do need help.

The room we booked was beautiful. Very comfortable bed and loved the bath & shower, it felt very luxurious. The bar area was very nice & relaxing. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. We would definitely stay again when we are in the area for work.

Beautiful bath in the bathroom but no bubble bath provided so we had to go out & buy some. A room of this standard we would expect bath robes. It would be nice if reception provided umbrellas for rainy days. The only other observation was that we booked and paid for breakfast with our room but upon arrival we were told that it was a continental breakfast instead of a usual full English which was a little disappointing so we by passed it and ended up at the Jack & Alice along the high street which was lovely although we would of much rather had our breakfast at the hotel.

I thought it would be noisy being so close to a road but the secondary glazing worked a treat. Slept like a log on the extremely comfy bed. This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in, lots of facilities including heaters in a massive glass roofed canopy in a seating area for us smokers or anyone who wants to sit outside. Lovely decoration in the rooms/pub/hotel etc. Not like a chain hotel at all, very warm and friendly like a family run hotel. Had a Christmas meal there with some colleagues, food was excellent and the staff were always on hand for drinks etc. Thoroughly recommend the squid!!!

The only downside was before leaving, I went outside for a cigarette and when I came back in my key card did not work and had to wait ages for someone to come to reception to get it to work again but even then I could only gain access to the main door to the hotel rooms - my actual room would not open. I had to get one of the housemaids to open the room for me.

The location was excellent for the train station and all the facilities of the town. We loved the decor in the rooms and bathrooms. The pub was decorated for Christmas and looked lovely (all done by the lady on reception and her family so please credit her for this!) We had a super breakfast and the server, Michael, went out of his way to accommodate us. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone who is looking to have a weekend away in London who doesn’t want to stay in the city. Large car park with EV charger and they kindly let us leave our car there after we’d checked out whilst we spent the day in London. A great find!

Nothing, all fabulous!

Staff all fantastic, accommodated small request to move soap holder in the bathroom. Bed comfortable and very quiet in room, well presented and clean. Good ventilation. Shower excellent. Large floor area, nice carpet. Good amount of tea/coffee/biscuits etc. Both nights sleep comfortable. Food in restaurant very nice, reasonable prices. Location most convenient to town centre.

Soap holder position in bathroom quite cramped to right shoulder, more of a design issue as limits sink access. But staff were extremely helpful to accommodate. May be useful if small fridge in some rooms, as difficult to keep items from supermarket - juice/milk etc.

Better than expected.Some old reviews left us hesitant to book but this pub's accommodation has been vastly improved with full renovation. Rooms are well appointed with lovely decor, well designed bathrooms and very comfortable beds. Overall easily beating a well-known purple coloured hotel chain. Short 5 minute walk to mainline train station serving London. Cinema, restaurants and cafes nearby plus a Tesco supermarket. Pub noise was not noticed and parking free for hotel guests. Reception welcome was warming and efficient. Staff all pleasant.

Just two issues which spoilt the stay; 1. litter in the car parking area and walking route to reception 2. Breakfast service: No fruit (told they had run out); no tea bags immediately available; hot water flasks empty; no cups or glasses available for use/not replenished; staff unprepared with tables not laid for arriving breakfast guests. This led to us cancelling our breakfast in preference to a local cafe breakfast at Fego, Station Road which was excellent.

A second wonderful stay at the Ethorpe! Our go to place now when travelling to visit family locally. A very convenient and comfortable stay. Housekeeping are very attentive and the facilities are so clean. Michael in the restaurant is just one of the loveliest humans you’ll meet, very kind and accommodating. Lily and Ina on reception are so friendly and helpful. We couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you and hopefully see you again soon! 😊

No complaints! Only change made would have been to have a firmer mattress but we know that is personal preference.
