Nothing to not like. I'm not going to moan about the odd spider web that was probably built after the cleaner went in. I'm not going to moan about anything. I like the odd spider. Snacks for the evening. No seriously. Fantastic little pub/diner. Quaint, traditional, isolated and beautiful. Rooms to stay. Great night's sleep and, a refreshing shower. Very good size room. Romantic evening meal. Whatever. It's amazing. It's well off the beaten track. And it's popular with those who know. Walkers love it. Couples love it. Friends and family love it. The food was great. No menus with a million choices. Simple and tasty choices without the need to Google everything. Puddings yummy. If you're going to moan about prices then don't be a loser. Don't believe the negative feedback. Stay or visit. It's lovely. Thank you for a great stay over.

right in the middle of the countryside! perfect place to escape the city for few days the host is amazing, food was very high quality although the pub closes a bit early. room was cozy and clean, very quiet. it was february so not really the best time for walks but all around the the house there are nice paths. due to the location, you can easily reach within one driving all main towns (Oxford, Bath etcc) and of course all the beautiful villages of the area. will be definitely back in summer!! thanks Vincent for being such an incredible host :)

room a bit cold maybe but nothing major

Quiet location, Old characterful building, nicely decorated and furnished, a little quirky a little traditional. Staff pleasant, the older waiter in particular was very busy and keen to please, food good, ( my husband said the lemon Posset was one of the best puddings he’s had out!) breakfast very good, nice atmosphere.

We were in Willow room. Very pretty and overlooked the pub garden. However, pillows were very flat and of poor quality, linen could be improved too. Cobwebs over the beds,( which I removed) dust on the TV stand. My husband would have preferred a better quality lager ( only Carlsberg available) such as Peroni. None of this actually spoiled our stay particularly, but definitely a little room for improvement on the points made.

The room was cosy and the mattress extremely comfortable, it was a lovely surprise to have filter coffee available in the room and a choice of teas and a caraffe of water. The ensuite was spotlessly clean. We had an evening meal and the food was amazing, with a very good portion size, you could tell it was locally sourced and freshly cooked. likewise the breakfast was really good. The staff were welcoming and friendly they made our stay perfect.

This really was not a problem for us but the bed was such that one of us had to crawl/ roll across it. personally I thought it added to the charm, but something to consider if you are less mobile, I think other rooms were available that would have been more spacious, for the price we paid it was amazing.

Ancient stone country pub in an idyllic rural village just a few minutes walk from Kelmscott Manor. Our room (Scroll) was spotless, warm and well equipped with a comfy bed and a lovely view from the window. The bathroom was completely up to standard - huge soft fluffy towels, very good shower and lovely Branche d'Olive toiletries.

We were given a room right over the bar, even though I'd requested a quiet room specifically not over the bar, but when I asked we were immediately given a different, quieter room. Breakfast was 8-10am but it seems most guests turned up at 8.30am and there was only one person on breakfast duty, so he was rushed off his feet and there were long waits for service. These were just niggles, but could easily have been avoided!

They were very welcoming, Everything was clean, For once the room wasn't too hot and the window opened properly. Delicious dinner and breakfast, good service and very helpful.

Only two very small things stopped this being excellent. We were the last in the dining room at 9 p.m. on Saturday night, coming to the end of our meal. The tables all around us were cleared, but then copious amounts of cleaning fluid was sprayed on all the surrounding tables. I understand they wanted to get sorted, but we would have left and gone up by 9.15 anyway and it was a Saturday!! It felt unneccessary. The other quibble was the quality of the bread used for the toast at breakfast, really basic supermarket, thin white and brown, such a shame as a decent thickness white and perhaps seeded brown would have been so much nicer, and surely not much more expensive. Parking a bit problematic too!

We were made very welcome by Vincent on our arrival. Both he and Trudy were attentive helpful and fun. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was comfortable, clean, and very adequate. The food was good, breakfast was more than sufficient and very enjoyable. Our only disappointment was with one evening meal. We chose steak frites. The steak was delicious, very tender, and the fries were crisp. However, we were disappointed that there were no veg, e.g. peas, tomatoes, or mushrooms. For the price, we would have expected a little more on the plate. The steak pie was very good indeed! It was very cold weather while we were there and we did find the ill-fitting windows rather drafty but given that the property is very old it was understandable. We would certainly love to return for a second visit and have no hesitation in recommending this delightful pub.

The decor both inside the pub and in the room is perfect to our taste, a great mixture of cosy village pub and modern design influence. The room we stayed in is cosy and characterful, and the fittings of the bathroom opulent. The room was toasty upon arrival and never short of hot water in the bathroom. The breakfast was outstanding, so much so that on our way home from our road trip we came back for Sunday lunch. The chicken roast was the best I have had in any restaurant or pub. You couldn't dream of a more picturesque, quaint village for the pub to be situated in. There is almost no traffic to speak of through the village, and the architecture and nature surrounding it is incredibly peaceful.

No complaints at all. Please note that given it is a village pub opening hours can fluctuate based on busyness, for example the kitchen and the pub itself closed slightly earlier than their publicly listed opening hours on the Thursday night that we arrived (we arrived at 8.30pm and kitchen was closed, and when we returned with food at 10pm the pub was also closed). We messaged the Plough Inn prior to setting off to inform them that we'd be checking in in the evening, and I am sure they would have contacted me or stayed on site until our arrival whether or not we gave forewarning.

Had an amazing stay at the Plough. We had dinner and breakfast the next day. Both meals were amazing and the staff were so lovely. It’s a super quiet village, room was clean and very well decorated. The pub overall had such a cozy feel. Very relaxing!

The only downside is that the rooms aren’t very soundproof, however saying that you can’t hear the bar downstairs at all only the rooms next door to you which is great! We did unfortunately have a broken kettle but when mentioned to Staff they did do everything they could to fix and help the problem. You can’t fault it at all! well worth the money and would definitely recommend to anyone. Can’t wait to come back!

Comfy beds, squishy carpets that felt amazing under your feet. Felt like memory foam which is a great idea for not hearing people walking about in older buildings. Lovely food and great selection of locals ales. Friendly staff and locals. Pets super welcome. Breakfast was a beautiful touch and nice roaring real fires at night and in the morning. Such a pleasant stay. The Appletree was magnificent!

Car parking was a little difficult as in a small village and not much parking for guests, so was a little wait until some of the locals left. There was a generator or something near our room which was a little noisey. I am a light sleeper so ear plugs were needed and I slept OK.
